This album is going to bomb. You're probably right, but she'll still most likely outsell "Code Red".

This album is going to bomb. You're probably right, but she'll still most likely outsell "Code Red". I'm lost since they are in two completely different demographics but I'll attempt to understand this stretch and say that lack of radio support is a key factor for both. Alive underperformed, there's no second single on the rise and the general buzz around this album seems minimal compared to 1FOF. Plus I think the fact that this album has been billed as a collection of scraps from the start ultimately caused a general lack of enthusiasm. The main talking point was who the songs were meant for instead of the music itself. And I'll honestly be shocked if this debuts with more than 30k.

I would think this as well but I still feel like this album is already an afterthought and most people aren't have forgotten the album comes out on Friday. I assumed a second single would've been rushed out since Alive didn't take off.

Haven't listened yet, but considering the quality and (lack of) cohesion among what I have heard so far, I wonder if she and her team would've been better off really pushing the "these are rejects!" angle and either pricing it low or giving it out for free like at the end of last year as a gift to fans. Then the perception might have been less "what's the point of this messy project?" and more "wow, look at all the artists she's worked with and how nice it was to give quality songs away for cheap/free!" Eh.

That's all I meant. Both somewhat low key projects by female artists.

It's not as big a mess as I was suspecting. Yeah, it lacks cohesion, and at least half the songs are so "Sia" that it feels like treading water. That was never the point of this album though, I guess. It's supposed to be generic pop, but where it is fresh, it is at least interesting (as rare as those moments are). I guess a close comparison for me would be Delirium, which also didn't really have much to say other than "This is my Pop album please buy it." I could now go a lifetime without hearing another midtempo by her tbh.
Move Your Body is a BOP, and Sweet Design is going to be I Do What I Want of this album. (Those who love it, really love it and those who hate it really hate it.) It's the most interesting moment of the album.

Maybe hearing Move Your Body (which was written for Shakira) in HQ will change my mind, but it just sounds like a cacophonous mess in the snippet

The album leaked. I changed my mind about Sweet Design. The verses are good, and I love the sample of Thong Song, kinda unexpected.
House On Fire is my new jam. One of Sia's best songs for sure.
She tried to recreate a Cellophane type of song with Space Between but her vocals end up sounding annoying and it reminds too much of Neptune City by Nicole Atkins for some reason.
Overall, the album is average at best. No growers, only fillers.

I expected far worse based on the reactions here. This isn't bad, but yes, a stepdown compared to other Sia releases. I'll still purchase. It's interesting to hear Sia make songs that are SUCH blatant radio fodder.

I still wish there was some master list of who was meant for what song.

I still wish there was some master list of who was meant for what song. Well we know some of them: Bird Set Free - Pitch Perfect 2 soundtrack, they rejected it, offered to Rihanna, she rejected it, offered to Adele, she rejected it Alive - Adele One Million Bullets - not written for anybody Move Your Body - Shakira Unstoppable - rumors are Rihanna Cheap Thrills - Rihanna Reaper - Rihanna We know one of the songs on the album was intended for Beyonce (possibly Unstoppable) and one was intended for Katy Perry.

Unstoppable, based on the clip, reeks of Beckyonce.

"Broken Glass" could be a BeyoncΓ© album track. "Fighting A Sandstorm" could be a Shakira track - she always has those weird metaphors floating around her lyrics.

I'm not a huge Sia fan though I do have her debut cd and this one. Maybe that's why I like a lot of her cd. I really like first single "Alive". It was one of the first Sia songs I instantly took to. I also love "Cheap Thrills". I could care less if I instantly could tell this was for Rihanna. "Bird Set Free and Unstoppable" are both strong songs in my opinion. I really like "Move Your Body" after a few listens. Though I like the versus more than the actual chorus, it's a little loud but I'm sure I'll get used to it. Because I basically already am. "House Of Fire" is pretty good and the rest are listenable but didn't really stand out to me except "Sweet Design" which I wish was a little longer.

She will also be performing on Ellen on Monday. Hopefully she will announce there what the next single will be (I'm hoping for Cheap Thrills or Reaper from what I've heard so far) www.facebook.com/SiaMusic/photos/a.10150351696248408.402984.10959868407/10153952378963408/?type=3&theaterFinally got to listen! Can definitly hear the Shakira influence in Move Your Body. I actually prefer a lot of these songs over the ones that were released over the last few weeks. Footprints is my favourite, I love the instrumental and her vocals are great! I give it a 7.5/10

She's on the Tonight Show tonight as well! They still haven't announced what the next single will be, but Unstoppable is sitting at 53 on iTunes. It's resonating with the public and I wouldn't complain if it was chosen. (Despite its basicness)
My greatest wish is probably contractually impossible, but I really want an album of fully produced demos of songs that other artists have done. Diamonds, Perfume, and Let Me Love You especially. The demos are amazing, but I want to hear them crystal clear.
