I want to see The Weeknd getting top 2 in airplay.
Is there an artist who made it? Pharrell or someone else?

I think the low peak in audience for CFMF (comparing it to Earned It) is rewarded with a high longetivity (while Earned It dropped hard in audience when it peaked)

Pretty sure The Weeknd's gonna replace himself at the summit next week. Totally agree. My prediction for Top-3: 1. The Hills - 110 - 110 - 20.0 = 42,400 2/3 WDYM - 140 - 70 - 19.0 = 39,800 2/3 CFMF - 80 - 140 - 17.0 = 39,600 The Hills should easily win. It will be close between WDYM and CFMF for #2.

One thing I'm curious about though: what's the dominant factor of a song's stability in airplay after peak (severe drop like "see you again" and "cheerleader" vs mild drop like CFMF)? Is it largely depending on a) how much audiences are tired of that song already; b) company airplay contract power (or whatever it's called); c) radio station staffs think that song should not be played no more?

That would be callout scores. If long into a song's run in radio the callout scores is still decent, radio ain't got a reason to drop the song too much from rotation.

So... something I learned today:
Chains was actually the debut single off Nick Jonas, not Jealous. And yet... Jealous debuted first and did better.

The Weeknd really jizzed in his pants by releasing both songs right away.

Didn't they immediately drop "Chains' for "Jealous" before it was really even promoted. I believe a video came out but if I remember correctly it kind of felt like a "buzz" track because they changed their minds so quickly on it.

So many songs flying up the chart. I wonder if Locked Away can reach #1 or if it will be blocked by The Hills

I realized while driving the other day that I never listen to the radio anymore. I either hook Spotify in my car or listen to sports talk.
Anyone one else no longer listen to radio?

I'll try to listen to the radio every few days. Turn it on, flip through 10 stations, realize that I'm already tired of every song that comes on, turn radio off, plug iPod in.

Was Mariah never 1 and 2 in airplay with "WBT" and "SIO?" If you go back to the 90s when Hot 100A had a more limited panel, I know she was #1 and #2 at the same time on that chart ("Fantasy" and "OSD").

I've never used Spotify. I'm a much bigger fan of digital and radio than of on-demand stuff.. I want to pay artists more respect

I still listen to the radio while sitting in traffic on my way to work. The local Kiss station has a hilariously awesome morning show, with a few songs mixed in between

The Weeknd will be the 2nd artist to have a lead single hit #1 Hot 100 after the 2nd single. The first one was Rihanna.
Also, when was the last time a 2nd single peaked first (on radio or Hot 100) before the lead single? Not sure if Rihanna's What's My Name peaked first before Only Girl.

Mariah did replaced herself on #1 Hot 100 Airplay after occupying the top 2 (SIO & WBT).

And actually, Can't Hold Us was technically released in 2011, long before its preceding #1, Thrift Shop.
