I met her yesterday. Really nice girl, and super pretty too. Hopefully she has a lot of success with this song; she's very talented. That's awesome, I know some artists in different genre's are charging for that type of thing. Yeah it was cool. She and Brandy Clark hung out at the merch table afterwards, which is kind of in the lobby that most people have to walk through to get out of the venue.

That is how it should be, everyone starts somewhere and this is a way to connect with the fan base. I follow Lindsay on Twitter and Snapchat, some of the behind the scenes stuff is pretty good. I hope this song gets on mainstream radio.

I listen to a lot of Sirius and other online stations.

I looked at WMZQ's page to see if it was on their popular list and it was not. The 12 spins are from the rolling Mediabase chart that is listed on All Access. The site is free to sign up and offers stations playlists, along with the top 50 daily Mediabase rolling chart. Linday's song is listed as the 38th most played song on WMZQ's playlist this week. The labels in Nashville (major labels) follow the Mediabase chart and the Billboard Airplay chart. The Music Row chart is followed by smaller labels like SMG, SSM, Circle S Records, etc. and that chart keeps track of the smaller market stations. I'm sure you know most of this. :)

I decided to listen to this today. Holy cow this is catchy. Reminded me of when I first heard "I Love This Life" in terms of how I was instantly hooked to the song because of its catchiness. This needs to be a hit. Maybe once more people hear it, it'll catch on and take off kind off like "I Love This Life" did.

Despite the fact that "By The Way" lost its bullet on BB "By The Way" is officially Lindsay Ell highest peaking song on the AirPlay chart as she reached #45. Now let's keep this going.

Sorry for a double post. I just think that this song might be able to take off soon as this week judging by the spin leaders on AllAccess, it looks like a lot of the stations that have "By The Way" are increasing the spins just a little bit. A lot of my optimism is from the fact that on the BB chart there's a lot of songs ahead of Lindsay that look to fall relatively soon (Lee Brice, Chase Bryant, Brad Paisley, Love & Theft, and William Michael Morgan) all those songs are looking weak and I can see Lindsay Ell "By The Way" taking off shortly after. I at least hope.

I'm becoming a little worried about this one. It seems like it's been trapped in the top 50 for a while and hasn't made much progress. I feel like if this doesn't start picking up in the next few weeks, the end of the road for this song could be near. I'm still hoping this will take off and become at least a moderate hit though.

The good news for Lindsay Ell on Billboard at least there's a lot of songs leaving next week (Eric Church, Brothers Osborne, Brad Paisley) and the only song behind Lindsay Ell looking to pass is "Record Year". Also Love & Theft might fall below since they might be done. so if Lindsay Ell holds back the competition she could easily head back to her peak of #44 if she has a good enough week
I really do want see Lindsay Ell breakout as a star as her songs are very lightweight but at the same time very catchy and an earworm.

This is cute! I'd really love to see this reach the top 30 or so, but top 40 seems more feasible at this point. Sometimes I forget, baby steps first when it comes to situations like this (new artist with cool new song and no OTV push).

Isn't this song set to go recurrent on both charts this week unless it regains its bullet? It's showing a very small loss on Mediabase but is still without a bullet so far this week. Could easily recover enough to regain it before week's end.

Could easily recover enough to regain it before week's end. It's only on its first bullet less week and if it loses this week than it's eligible. I do think Lindsay Ell needs to turn it around and fast though there is only so many songs that can go recurrent before Lindsay Ell has to start moving.

Isn't this song set to go recurrent on both charts this week unless it regains its bullet? "By The Way" will not go recurrent this Sunday on Mediabase since it had a bullet on the February 1st issued chart. Lindsay's song had a rather promising start but it's been completely lost in the shuffle since the New Year. "By The Way" has lost 100k in net Mediabase audience over the past four weeks. All her station leaders have her in light rotation and a large percentage of her spins are overnight.

Actually Lindsay has been without a bullet on the last 2 Billboard charts, so yes, she would go recurrent on Monday unless she can re-bullet. On the Billboard chart that came out on February 1 (tracking week of January 25-31), Lindsay increased by 10 spins but lost 131k in audience. A spin gain does not automatically equate to a bullet on Billboard...and because of the audience loss, Lindsay was not awarded a bullet on February 1. And then on the current chart (tracking week of February 1-7), "By The Way" was down 5 spins and 109k in audience...and was also without a bullet. So she needs to re-bullet this week or she'll go recurrent on Monday's Billboard chart.

Lindsay Ell "By The Way" is down about 100K in audience this week so for my prediction I have Lindsay Ell off the chart :'( . I'm hopeful for a rally today or just something to save this song but I have my doubts now.
I'm surprised though that the end of the road is probably here for this song. I for sure thought it'd at least scrap the top 40. I am stunned honestly that the last month has been nothing but cruel to this song.
So in the end I don't know how much longer Stoney Creek will keep Lindsay Ell. This'll probably be her third song in a row to fail. The only thing she really has going for her is the support of Bobby Bones and I think that's it. I can see Lindsay Ell getting dropped by the end of the year :'( .

It might be close, but I think this song will manage to re-bullet. Remember, a song can lose a little bit of audience and still be rewarded a bullet so long as its percentage loss in audience does not exceed the percentage of monitored station downtime for the format. So oftentimes songs that lose such a minimal amount (like 100k or less) will still be rewarded a bullet.
Or maybe Billboard just pulls a Hank Jr. and lets this stay on even if it is bullet-less for a 3rd week in a row. That happened just a few weeks ago with Hank Jr.'s "Are You Ready For The Country?" where they left it on at #59 even though that week was its 3rd bullet-less week in a row.
I don't mean to sound insensitive here, but there have been quite a few mistakes on the Billboard chart ever since Wade Jessen passed away last year. Wade was the senior chart manager for Billboard until his unexpected passing 11 months ago (RIP Wade). In recent months we've seen Hank Jr. get an extra week on the chart, Canaan Smith's "Love You Like That" was supposed to go recurrent one week but it inexplicably got an extra week in the top 10, and the application (or lack thereof) of the grace week rule has been incredibly inconsistent. If it were 1-2 years ago, I'm quite confident that Easton Corbin wouldn't have been removed so prematurely (even though "Yup" obviously isn't going anywhere), and the same goes for David Nail, A Thousand Horses, and Mo Pitney. In Billboard's defense, it turns out that "(This Ain't No) Drunk Dial" and "Country" wound up not lasting much longer, but David's "Night's On Fire" is doing fairly well right now.
I'm not trying to be too critical -- I understand mistakes happen -- but it's just something I've noticed over the last year or so. I suspect that it's a case of the new Billboard chart people not being quite as meticulous as Wade was.
Anyway, back to the topic at hand...I hope my prediction is right (that Lindsay is able to re-bullet), because I really enjoy "By The Way". It's pop-country done right. It's got great instrumentation and cute/inoffensive lyrics, and Lindsay sounds like she's having a lot of fun. I generally gravitate more towards songs with a more serious nature/tone to them, but this little ditty is simply infectious and irresistible.

"By The Way" went recurrent :'( .
It makes me sad as this has quickly become one of my favorite songs going into 2016, so the tact that it just all of sudden just collapsed and struggled so soon into the new year greatly saddened me.
I wonder what the future holds for Lindsay Ell she has now tried three separate times and each one saw a flame out in the 40s. I so badly want Lindsay Ell to break out but I just don't know if it's meant to be for Lindsay to become a star.
So without further ado.
BB Peak #44, MB Peak #45 (wish it was higher) :'(

So without further ado. BB Peak #44, MB Peak #45 (wish it was higher) :'( I wouldn't speak so soon to say that #45 will be "By The Way's" Mediabase peak. Stoney Creek is still actively promoting Lindsay's song and they've rallied nearly 200k in MB audience over the past two days. There will be just one recurrent this Sunday (Sam Hunt), while Dan + Shay and Eric Church are poised to pass Lindsay, so she might not get past #45 this week but I wouldn't be surprised if the label sticks with this for another couple weeks. I'm not saying this will do much more but it's not done yet. Billboard had to send this recurrent with the loss of a bullet for the third consecutive week, but they're still after spins and audience on Mediabase and in hopes for re-entry on Billboard.

It's nice to see this song not give up when it has still has plenty of room to grow (Yup I'm looking at you >:( ). I do hope this can at least sneak into the Top 40 when all is said and done, I hope the last few weeks were more of a bump in the road then anything.

And I actually do think the label tried to rally BTW last week. After all, they managed to re-bullet on Mediabase...it just so happens that their efforts weren't quite enough to re-bullet on Billboard. I can definitely see this one re-entering on Billboard. That's not to say that it will suddenly take off, but I do think it still has a chance to be a slow-climber at the very least. It shouldn't be hurt at all by a 1-2 week absence on the Billboard chart. The fact that it never went recurrent on Mediabase will be more than enough for Stoney Creek to convince radio programmers that it's not done yet.

I bought this single yesterday, if that helps!
I rarely buy singles, I would rather wait for the EP to be released and get the artist more money at once.

"By The Way" has a good chance of re-entering Billboard tomorrow. Lindsay Ell is up 28 spins this week so her bullet seems to be fine, but what really has me thinking that "By The Way" will return is the audience gains, it's approximately gained 300K in audience this week which should translate well enough for Lindsay Ell to re-enter. Now where Lindsay Ell re-enters remains to be determined but she should be around where her peak position was at (#44). So things are looking up for "By The Way" and I couldn't be any more pleased :) . Edit; sabre14 you're the Mediabase expert. Would you say "By The Way stands a good chance of re-entering the BB chart tonight? I just want more than just my take on "By The Way" chances of re-entering.

"By The Way" has gained 350k in Mediabase audience from last Monday to this Monday. I would be a little surprised if Billboard didn't re-enter the song.
