Fantasia (self-titled) should have sold more. It should have been over a million. I actually impressed with Back to Me's numbers too.

I still don't understand the failure to properly capitalize on the success of When I See U nor the rationale behind choosing I'm Doin' Me as the second single from BTM. On another note: if she really wants to embody this "rock/soul" sound she's been hollering about for years, she needs to take that Tina Turner vibe on Lonely Legend and run with it. Hard.

So agree with everything you said. It is amazing how "When I See U" saved that album from totally failing, but still her label could not get it right with the next single (or a proper push for the next single). "I'm Doin' Me" was blah for a single. I did not understand that one. Also, this woman barely has a videography. That is ridiculous and it continues to be a mess due to "No Time For It" did not get a video treatment (in which I was looking forward to). Her label has been doing her dirty. I guess those Idol stops were enough to say that she was getting the full treatment. She is a staple in the urban county yet the label treats her as the loosely paper. I just don't understand.

I was really disappointed with the sales but she's on par with other r&b girls aside from K michele

1. Ugly (I feel like this could be a country crossover and I agree with the comment that someone said about it sounding like a Carrie song, which is not a bad thing to me, at all...let's not forget that Fantasia is as country as it gets and this sound fits her WAY better than it did K. Michelle, who tried it. Anyway, I eat this kinda song up because I love Wasted and JTTW by Carrie.) 2. Sleeping With The One I Love 3. Lonely Legend 4. Crazy 5. Wait For You (this song is kinda weird to me, but whatever. It's the catchiest on here, at least, which is the only reason why I have it ranked so high. Also, I didn't need a minute of phone chat to start the song...) 6. Roller Coasters (I like the vibe of this and her vocal production is pretty perfect; Good job, Ron Fair! He certainly knows how to produce vocals, doesn't he?) 7. So Blue
Not bad at all, Fantasia! Oh...and When I Met You did absolutely nothing for me. I don't remember the melody, if there even was one, and nothing about it stood out. #oop
Oh...I appreciate I Made It too. Wasn't the best execution but...eh, coulda been worse.

I can't with these R&B females disappointing me one after another... going on like two/three years now. I feel similar to this as I did with Code Red. Some interesting and adventurous production ideas, vocally on point... but weak hooks and nothing sticks. Pleasant listen, but a huge step down from her previous work.

Did the homewrecker thing affect her career at all? Up until that point she was always doing well. I can only imagine her being marketed to older women who are married or who were till they man left them for some homewrecker must not have taken well to that aspect of her personal life.

There is a home wrecker story/rumor going around for her too? I wasn't aware. Honestly I don't think her sales have anything to do with that.

She was with someone who was married, aborted his baby, and then attempted suicide after all of the fallout. I actually felt bad for her during that time period. Anyway, when the guy's ex-wife tried to take her to court, Fantasia won because the ex-wife lied about when they were separated, even though she lied about an earlier separation date. Anyway, this album actually continues to grow on me. I definitely like it more than her debut but I think Back To Me is my favorite of hers. If I had to rank her albums: 1. Back To Me 2. Fantasia 3. The Definition... 4. Side Effects Of You 5. Free Yourself

Now I remember. I never invested my time into why she tried to attempt suicide, now it makes sense. I usually don't pay these incidents any attention. Thanks for the info.

Fantasia Side Effects of You Back to Me Free Yourself The Definition of... Mine is similar to yours. I would just switch Back to Me and Free Yourself. And Side Effects/self-titled could be tied for first.

You better write every frustration I've had since her debut! The timing of releases (or lack of) for her radio adds, singles, videos, and album releases always frustrate me.

Every one of her album eras just ends abruputly; she gets two singles/videos and a third single just thrown out to radio. Side Effects of You (single) was SUCH a missed opportunity!
Since they already threw NTFI out to radio and gave SWTOIL the video, I wonder what they'll drop next.

I'm preaching this for years. SO much injustice with "When I see u" and "Man of the house" was the obvious 2nd single from BTM.

I would have loved "Move on Me" as the second single. It was still her, but quite groovy. "Man of the House" was just too generic despite my liking for it.

It'll be interesting to see how the Grammys respond to this album. She's gotten at least 1 nomination with every album release and each of her previous four have been nominated in the R&B/Contemporary R&B/Urban Contemporary album categories.

WAIT FOR YOU should be the third or next single released from this album. I think it's her most catchy song. Plus, it has crossover potential.

Lonely Legend is HOT. The Middle Eastern sounds don't fit AT ALL so I just overlook them. I live for the drum, guitar, and horn combo. Such a great song. I want more of this from her.
