While not yet confirmed, it appears XL/Columbia's Adele has broken first-day digital sales records with over 400k for single "Hello" sold across all platforms. Meanwhile, digital preorders for album 25 (due out 11/20) surpassed 100k. Streaming numbers also appear to be through the roof with some speculating she could hit well over the 2m mark in the first day.The current record-holder for streaming is labelmate One Direction’s “Drag Me Down” with 1.8m U.S. hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=298203

She has Flo Rida's record in the bag. I knew this would destroy records upon arrival.
It's insane there are still people who doubt her star power at this time.

Well, it's always hard to know how someone will follow up a huge album, especially after a few years away. Look at Alanis following Jagged Little Pill as an example. Plus, we know sales in general are way down. So, it's understandable if some people were skeptical. But, yes, now it's clear Adele doesn't follow into any kind of normal sales trends.

Whatever HITS reports and Billboard reports, it will likely be the same at day 7
Is it possible we might be getting caught up in differences in how they are being counted?
For instance is Billboard only counting the purchase of the single in their totals? and maybe HITS is counting the purchase of the single AND album preorders together?

It doesn't seem like HITS would be counting both if they make a point to state the singles sales in one part and the album pre-orders in another part, but you never know I guess.
