Out of curiosity, what are the specifics on how the formula works? I am aware of the ratio but is it simple flat sales numbers times whatever the ratio is and then added with the others? Is there some sort of equation involved?

Is there some sort of equation involved? Basically the answer to your question is yes. The raw sales (and streaming, airplay) numbers are multiplied by the ratios and added together, only we don't know what the ratios are because they have not been disclosed.

It has been downloads/10+airplay/8400+streaming/775(and I think +physical singles/5). Today starts a new chart year, so this is subject to change. I proposed to Gary and Silvio downloads/8+airplay/10000+streaming/1000+physical singles/1. I also mentioned having ODS/1000 & VS/2500.
Finally I asked about changing the recurrency rule from 20 to 26 weeks due to that better matching the genre charts and longevity in the Top 50, and to resolve the issue of slow risers. Silvio wasn't negative toward my recurrency proposal.
However, we'll have to wait and see if there's a formula change today (which seems likely), and if so by how much does Billboard adjust the calculations to (temporarily) the influence of streaming.
