Whoever picks the extras did a good job. Love "I Wanna Go," "FU," "Something Better" and "Downtown".

Speaking of Downtown, it just hit me that it was one of the biggest flops of the year. It spent 11 weeks and peaked at 8. It was no TSGH but still I expected 20 weeks.

So, "How Deep Is Your Love" is the biggest dropper for the second week in a row. Will probably end up gone in next week's chart.

• The countdown starts off with three songs all moving down by 4, then with How Deep Is Your Love, the biggest drop for the second week straight.
• Pentatonix is still struggling to make the countdown for their first time. I'm sure they're hoping to make it in next week before the year comes to a close.
• Speaking of Pentatonix, I wonder if we'll ever hear from Karmin again on AT40, because honestly, I feel Karmin has done better than Pentatonix since they both started out performing hit songs before releasing original material. Besides, it seems like no one is downloading Can't Sleep Love. It got me thinking, "Who listens to the Pentatonix?". Not to put anyone on blast or anything.
• That's quite a way to stylize twenty | one | pilots. I'm quite namely familiar with the song, Tear In My Heart. It kind of was a big hit on rock charts and I wonder why it didn't really cross over to pop radio.
• Can't Feel My Face back up two to #29. Doesn't bother me much.
• Jackpot at #17! Called it.
• It seems to me that Tori Kelly is so underrated because nobody is really turned on to her hits, download-wise. Her previous two hits both peaked at #16. Will Hollow do the same? Also, Tori, who only managed to be eliminated before the Top 24 was announced on American Idol, has had more hits on pop radio than winners like David Cook, Kris Allen, to name a few. In fact, some of the AI winners have gone NOWHERE since winning. Also quite the same for The Voice. Just being realistic here.
• It's likely that Focus will not hit the Top 10, becoming Ariana's first song to do so since her very first hit, The Way (#12 in 2013).

As nice as that would be, I'm, certainly, not holding by breath. Those days are behind us, it seems. I do look forward to seeing if they use the published Mediabase year-end chart, again, this year, or if they revert back to using their own.

One of my faves, Cake By The Ocean, is already dropping. Another song by Chingy was also
titled One Call Away. I remember it from the last year I could listen to Rick Dees on the radio
here in Miami, 2004. I just listened to him that one year when Ryan took over AT 40.
But now I could listen (and tape) his show online, and I'm thinking
of doing that some weeks. He seems much more dynamic than Ryan as an announcer.
Why isn't there more discussion of his show at Pulse?
As to the year-end AT40, I can only listen to it one of the 2 weeks. Even though I often
listen to a weekly chart 2 weeks in a row. I just want to hear more current stuff, so I'll
repeat the last weekly one instead of the second airing of the year-end.

I guess that depends on how you define a flop; reaching #8 is hardly a flop in and of itself, but there was reason to expect better considering M&RL's track record.

Then again, one could make the case that the song only got as high as it did due to name recognition. Personally I thought it was a bit too hodge-podgy to be a big hit without previous name rec, and lyrically it seemed basically just a combined rehash of "Thrift Shop" and "White Walls", though the chorus (from Foxy Shazam's Eric Nally) was cool.
