Amazing numbers for Chris considering there wasn't a solid Urban single and no crossover hit. After August Alsina, R. Kelly, and Jeremih, I was sure he would do 30-75k.

I'm surprised, good numbers for his debut.

These one-day extensions have become hard to trust (Hits hasn't quite figured out how to model the new tracking week), plus last week before Christmas may impact the numbers. But they'd be in line with expectations if they hold up.
Chris Brown hasn't yet had a smash from this album, but the excitement from his core fanbase seemed a bit bigger than it did for "X." Plus, it's the holiday season (which means less formal hype but more shopping activity). With those factors canceling out, you're left with a pretty consistent performance.
[By the way, since this is a Hits thread, I guess this is a semi-relevant place to ask this: does anyone know the deal with this "buddy" thing they do? They end a lot of their headlines with "buddy" ie "Your weekly sales estimates, buddy." And then they post stuff like this:

Chris Brown usually sells 100k-150k the first week to his die hard fans, then disappears quickly from the charts. Only one of his last four albums has even gone Gold. He sang lead on 7 singles released in 2015 and featured vocals on 15 more - only 2/7 and 4/15 charted higher than #90 on the Hot 100 and they didn't do much better on R&B.

Those numbers far exceed what I expected, considering last week's chart - it's perplexing - he's on 7 songs, but can't get real traction on any of them. Perhaps, radio will take another look. Zero should've been a hit. 92 94 99 6 Play No Games, Big Sean Featuring Chris Brown & Ty Dolla $ign 84 97 0 New 1 Sorry, Rick Ross Featuring Chris Brown 97 98 0 New 1 Drifting, G-Eazy Featuring Chris Brown & Tory Lanez 98 99 82 84 15 Liquor, Chris Brown 60 + Bubbling Under 4 11 – 2 Back To Sleep, Chris Brown 4 12 2 10 8 Zero, Chris Brown 2 18 25 – 5 Player, Tinashe Featuring Chris Brown 3

What were the opening numbers for Melophobia? I wonder what numbers Adele will get.

I expected these kind of numbers from him since he has a VERY dedicated fan base that has allowed him to service these kinds of first week numbers. It's the long term that matters with this project. Each one has fell short of selling 500K except for "F.A.M.E." but that was because he was churning out hit after hit. His albums don't have the longevity that he had before.

What were the opening numbers for Melophobia? 17k opening week, sold 174k to date Thank You, Happy Birthday opened with 39k and should have passed the 200k by now (by 2011 it should have sold 186k) I don't know how much their self-titled debut album sold, but it didn't sell much in it's first week (it actually debuted on the Heatseekers Albums), but it's sold 518k as of August 2012 even though the album eventually peaked at no. 59 and hasn't sold more than 12k per week if I'm not wrong. It should be around the 550k mark now.

Chile, I just get giddy anytime I see a R&B album cross 100K, whether i like it or not. Monica, an r&b legend who knew she had a album outside of her stans. Until she showed up on the Wendy Williams show a day ago? Promote bishes.
Bottom line. 2 singles of the Code Red and Monica is spitting truth and numbers or not. Sounds like this album will be amazing.

I'm impressed with Ariana's numbers, considering hers is just a holiday EP that literally came out of nowhere and has had no singles or promo. That bodes well for her next album.

Her fanbase easily guarantees an EP opening 40k, it guaranteed a 100k selling selling single too.

Chris Brown usually sells 100k-150k the first week to his die hard fans, then disappears quickly from the charts. Only one of his last four albums has even gone Gold. Actually, Fortune is eligible for a Gold cert. His label is just stubborn/ he doesn't want the album certified. X also sold 404k and should be gold eligible in a few years' time (since it's not on the genre album charts now, it should be selling fewer copies now).

Adele's '25' Set for Historic Third Million-Selling Week in U.S. 12/22/2015 by Keith Caulfield Adele’s 25 is set for a historic third million-selling week in the U.S., according to industry forecasters. Those in the know suggest that her red-hot 25 could sell slightly more than a million copies in pure album sales in the week ending Dec. 24 -- its fifth week on sale. That would give the title its third frame of million-plus sales, following its debut week (3.38 million, according to Nielsen Music) and second stanza (1.11 million). 25 is the first album to earn multiple million-plus sales weeks since Nielsen Music began tracking sales in 1991. As earlier reported, through its fourth week on sale, 25 sold 5.98 million copies, making it the biggest-selling album released in the U.S. since Adele’s last album, 21, which bowed in 2011. The latter title has sold 11.37 million. 25’s sales total for the week ending Dec. 24 is scheduled to be announced on Sunday, Dec. 27, after Nielsen has completed processing its sales data for the week. www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/6820774/adele-25-third-million-selling-week

They need to get Chris Stapleton a Grammy performance slot. He has an outside shot to hit a million if they promote him right next year
