For what it's worth, Team Breezy does not appear to be over the moon with the early numbers. They've discounted it at some outlets (including pricing it at $4.99 on 7 Digital), and Brown has been pretty aggressive about it on Twitter (including posting a rant about how he works harder than everyone else in music and how real fans would buy his sh*t).
They don't seem particularly bad to me ... and it's hard to fathom someone legitimately expecting this to do much more.
Maybe I'm misreading it and they just really, really want to make sure he gets the #2 spot over Bieber and Pentatonix.

Chris Brown''s twitter rant turned off a lot of people. I haven't seen anywhere online with a positive reaction to it

^And if country radio gives him a few hits! Nobody To Blame is ready to hit the top twenty on the airplay chart. Do you have sales figures for the #1 country album, Traveller? Thanks!

I read that rant more as a frustration of the hard work is not really making the album more of a success than it is by default. The album is doing ok. I mean nobody expected it come close to Adele so #2 is what he can get anyway.
But if the work doesn't give any extra sales or new fans, of course it pisses him off. His job is to sell his music.

Will there be a HITS chart this week? Don't they usually take off from around Christmas through New Years?
Chris Brown should be happy for his sales considering the public overall is done with him. If he wants higher sales, he should make better music and be less of an ass.

^HITS may give us a Top 20/25 with sales. They have in the past.

God damn, Adele. Over 7 million sold.
And lol @ Bieber outselling Brown after all of his mega-promo, bitching, and moaning. I hope he drops like a rock.

A final chart, even before the night ends?
It may be a battle for No. 2, with final-final numbers yet to come.

Wow @ Adele! I knew she was flirting with another million-selling week, but I didn't expect her to blow past a million! She's always blowing past predictions, and I love it!

Sam Smith this week crosses 1 million sold in 2015. The 6th album to do do.
Meghan Trainor needs to scan 9k next week to scan 1 million in 2015. She'll be the 7th.
2014 only had 4 million sellers.

Even though it says "final," HITS has updated figures before, particularly since the Friday-release thing started.
Last week, "final" said that 25 had sold 742k pure album sales, but then several hours later, HITS reported that it actually did ~790k.
Would love for it to do 1.2 million.

Doing some peoples total era several times over. "Oh she might not have the hype you guys are talking. I don't know if she can clear a million her first week sold." Eat it three times over haters.

Hasn't Chris had a similar rant at least once before? I feel like I remember him doing this for some other album, demanding fans take pics of the album to 'prove' they really bought it, etc. I don't think his antics are a turnoff to anyone at this point, if they were a person would have jumped off his ship a long time ago.
I sympathize somewhat with his frustrations because his label's urban division is garbage, but he also needs to take a break and find a new direction. He's stagnant right now and it shouldn't be a surprise to him that his debut numbers have plateaued (if anything he should be pleased that his plateau is still north of 100k).

They need to get Chris Stapleton a Grammy performance slot. He has an outside shot to hit a million if they promote him right next year I fully expect Stapleton to perform at the Grammy's. And I think he's got a good chance to win 2-3 awards, if not win in all 4 categories that he's nominated in. It's crazy just how well his album has sold, largely based on his CMA performance going viral and the resulting word-of-mouth. But the single "Nobody To Blame" is top 10 on the iTunes country chart, and it's approaching top 20 at country radio as well (looks like a future top 10 hit, if not a #1), so that's probably starting to help a bit as well. I couldn't be any happier for Chris Stapleton. He's a true talent.

Regardless of his rants, that's another solid opening total for Pretty Boy Flizzy. 3rd album in just over a year, minimal positive press, and pulling the same opening he got in 2012. December or not, that's very impressive and speaks to the loyalty of his core base. Even Usher would likely miss those numbers had he released an album under similar circumstances today.

I have ambivalent feelings about Chris Brown (mostly negative though). I still like some of his songs, and when they come on the radio I'll listen to them, but I will absolutely never buy his music. If it were just the infamous Rihanna incident in 09 and if he had atoned for that it would be one thing, but it's his continual bitching, self-centered rants, homophobia, and overall belligerence that are a huge turnoff to me. It's pretty sickening that someone like that can still be signed to a major label and have a fan base that supports him.

Brown has also been around for a decade. I consider it amazing that he's still selling like this. This album will probably reach at least 300k. And he has had several huge hits in recent years.. Ayo, Loyal, Five More Hours..

Chris Brown's 1st album came out in Nov. 2005. He's had 10 years in the music business which today is an expiration date. Less promotion = less sales.
Look at Kelly Clarkson this year. She went from a million selling album to a 200k selling album.

I'd say Chris Brown is very much more relevant for young audience than Kelly but won't start arguing about it since they are very different as artists
