I think there was a topic on this a long time ago, but I was looking at the chart the other day, and the chart has hardly any AC-exclusive songs.
I like almost all the songs in the top 20, but many first made an impact on Hot AC or pop, and are more Hot AC-ish: The Fray, John Mayer, Snow Patrol, Gnarls Barkley, Natasha Bedingfield, Nickelback, Rob Thomas...
The chart used to be dotted by one or two nice light-rock Hot AC songs by Matchbox Twenty or Five for Fighting, but now, it's almost the main type of new song that is played.
Maybe I'm more bothered by this since I also listen to Hot AC radio and pop radio, and when I switch to AC, I want to hear different songs. You don't hear Josh Groban or Rod Stewart anywhere else, so I would prefer more of those types of songs...

There is still plenty of Josh Groban and Rod Stewart on AC. Maybe where you live, the hot AC artists and songs dominate, but plenty of standard-fare AC artists are still played. However, the lines between AC and hot AC are getting more blurried by the day. Plus, as time goes by, AC has to adapt. The older-end of the demographic is being phased out, thus the music associated with their era is being gradually replaced with that of the younger end, which is why you're hearing the Fray, Nickelback and Gnarls Barkley on AC.
