Definitely look forward to new Martina music, especially the sound takes us back to her Evolution days.
And this song sounds seems right up Martina's wheelhouse.

If this album is just half as good as that one, we are all in for a treat!

Welcome back Martina! I love the song already from Sarah (can we just note how good she sounds on it!) and I can't wait to hear Martina's take! I still think that she could've scored another hit or two if she was on Republic still instead of Nash Icons but alas this will make sure she at least charts for the next few years.

I still think that she could've scored another hit or two if she was on Republic still instead of Nash Icons but alas this will make sure she at least charts for the next few years. Yes, Sarah does sound fantastic on this! It really is too bad she didn't make it. She is typically an excellent song-writer, and has a very unique yet good voice too. I can't wait to hear Martina's take on it, because I am excited to see what this song sounds like with a full band. I think it lends itself to either a throwback neo-traditional sound or a poppy sound, so it will be interesting to see which way Martina wants to go with this and the rest of her album! I am predicting the neo-traditional route. And as far as Martina's chances on radio go, I completely agree with you. Her radio career was waning, but the well was certainly not dry yet. I am thrilled about her affiliation with Big Machine Label Group, because it means she will probably find success in many ways. Like look how much they reinvigorated Reba's career in the late 2000s, and continue to do so despite the lack of radio success! But I can't help but hope that in the near future they figure out a way to rework some things so that their artists will get more airplay on more stations... And I guess there is always the potential for her to be moved back to Republic if Nash Icon inexplicably folds or something! Lol.

Looking forward to a new Martina Album. I know she won't have anymore radio hits or if she does get any radio play it will only be on the Cumulus Stations but I'm still excited for new music from her.

Sorry for the double post, but I found a little snippet!! Just so you all know, her performance tonight was with her Everlasting band still, with the horn section and such, and no fiddle/steel, so this may not be the final instrumentation. But I really like what I am hearing so far! It sounds like a stripped down first chorus, before the full band comes in at the end... And can I just say, I LOVE how everything gets quiet and it is basically just her singing "too" by herself at the end of the chorus. The bass drop right at the end of the clip is fairly enjoyable as well And I think that sounds like maybe a fair bit of mandolin strumming around throughout the chorus! Edit: She just tweeted to a fan that this will be available for purchase in about a month. So we're looking at a mid-February release.

More confirmation!
She also tweeted that she has a photo and video shoot coming up! I cannot wait to see this video! She usually has pretty good ones.
Anyway, with the master turned in, I expect we will hear very soon when the label wants to release it to radio :) Keep your eyes and ears peeled!

Sorry for the double post! We have another tweet from Martina with an update :) Photo shoot is done! Video shoot is tomorrow!
No word if this photo shoot was for the whole album or just for this single cover. If they were just waiting for the photo shoot to be done so that they have a single cover ready before they put this song out, we should definitely start hearing some real details within the next week or two :)
Anyway, I have noticed that things seem to be moving pretty quickly with this song! The master was only just turned in to the label last week, and the video is already being filmed before the general public has even gotten to hear the song. I am getting the impression that Nash Icon is preparing to push "Reckless" pretty hard... The majority of their singles so far have just been kinda put out there and left to do as well as they could without non-Cumulus stations, with the exception being "Going Out Like That". The fact that a video is being prepared before fans/radio have even been given a chance to hear the song and provide feedback gives me the impression that the label is going to be more invested in this than we maybe have seen them be before.
I still doubt that will translate to a top 10 hit or anything, considering the label politics. But I would love to see the label fighting for some outside adds, and then pushing this into the top 30 like they did with GOLT. After all, Martina is by far the youngest artist on their roster, and definitely has the most future potential. I would love to see them recognize this potential and really fight to revitalize her career. It may not translate to radio play at this point, but they could definitely work on sales! She is a great investment for Nash Icon at this point, because she could still have 10, 15, maybe even 20 years left of making money for them if they play their cards right.
I am hoping that the rather hasty photo shoot/music video is an early sign that they are eager to start working on that investment.

I really hope this is a big hit for Martina. I'm wondering if, with radio politics as they are, top 30 might be as high as she can go ("Going Out Like That" was a big success for Nash Icons, and that only managed a #28 radio peak). But, it would be great if she could somehow top that. I'm so ready for new Martina music. Eleven is actually one of my favourite albums of hers, and it's crazy to think it's been close to 5 years since it came out. I know we got Everlasting in between, which is great, but I'm really ready for a new studio album of original material.

OMG OMG OMG!!!!!!! I think I might have a heart attack!!!!!! I am just way too excited for life right now! Could she get any more beautiful? Seriously, she looks 29 rather than 49... I want to know her secrets This single cover is PERFECT, and it is definitely a whole new look for her. As far as that preview is concerned, I am a little bit surprised at the production. I LOVE all the piano, but the compressed synth bass thing is a little weird. I like it though, and I will withhold further judgment until I hear the full song. I think she is going to give us a sound we have never heard from her for this album, and I am really excited to hear it :) Oh by the way, Martina's daughter Delaney just shared her mom's new profile picture and said, "My mom has a new single coming out on Friday and I've never been more proud of or excited for her!" And then Martina shared it... So, FRIDAY is our magic day! LET THE COUNTDOWN BEGIN!!

Well.... not to be offensive, but I'm sure photoshop helps in her looking 29 Yes, that is most certainly true! But even in person I would say she does not look her age. But then again, country music seems to have a lot of women who are aging quite gracefully! (Martina, Reba, and Sara Evans being three of the most notable examples )

The countdown continues! The snippet video Martina shared tonight comes from the bridge of the song...and actually contains the vocals!!!
Some other interesting things to note:
1) A fan tweeted asking if "Reckless" can be requested at all radio stations starting on Friday, and Martina said, "Yes!" So I suspect that means it will be available for radio stations immediately, and will probably be given an adds date for the very near future (sometime in the next couple weeks).
2) Another fan tweeted asking if this song will be available at midnight on Thursday, and once again, Martina said, "Yes!!!" That was probably implied by the fact that it is a Friday release, but I just wanted to post that in case anybody was wondering.
3) Finally, yet another fan tweeted to ask her if her new album will be available on vinyl. She said, "YES!!!"! So that is pretty cool for all you vinyl collectors out there :)

Martina McBride new song "Reckless" is not her best one. I think it would have been better without that beat she uses. I Don't see this song going anywhere on the charts. www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3sb---2DMk
