Tidal is a poor streaming platform used as a scape goat for flop sales when ex-A-list artists release subpar music. It's a joke.

Kanye just confirmed his album will never be released on iTunes Oh jesus christ, this rollout is an absolute disaster. First he pulls it from Tidal because he's still working on it, then everything including his website gets screwed up, and now this. Is he trying to make this album flop? No, he's trying to make it TLOP. But seriously, how is he gonna pull his ass out of bankruptcy if he doesn't put it on iTunes?

^^ or anywhere else, except for Tidal. He has basically been begging fans to subscribe to Tidal. He's begging to stay in debt. Wish granted.

How the hell is Kanye West of all people $53m in debt? He's had several multiplatinum albums, he's married to freaking Kim Kardashian, and he's been doing concerts and selling merchandise for a long time. Where did all that money go? Jeez, this album better go double diamond if he's THAT far gone. It's easier than you think to be that much in debt. If he actually is that much in debt. Kanye tweets out his ass constantly so who knows if that's even remotely true or just a ploy to grab some press.

I think Adele has it this week. She's #1 on iTunes despite a bunch of albums winning grammys (1989, Traveller, To Pimp a Butterfly & Sound and Color). She's priced for $10.99 whilst all the other albums are discounted to $7.99. "Hello" #8, "All I Ask" #9 & "When We Were Young" #13 on iTunes as well. Coming for that fastest to diamond record. :'(

Yeah Adele has it. I'm surprised Chris did BB King. He was great. But he lost a lot of power from people hearing his own songs for a big post week sales.

Shouldn't Andra Day be on that list? Her song surely increased more than 1%

Yeah, where is Ed Sheeran? "Thinking Out Loud" is almost Top 10 on iTunes.

As did Take Your Time...
Thinking this may be based on data that certain labels shared with HDD (rather than a comprehensive list). Edit: I realize that's not entirely true since Sam Hunt's album appears there. Though I assume the label thing may explain why some are missing.
But I frankly question all these numbers. Some seem a little high (remember, this is only through the end of day Monday) and others are obviously too low or missing.

There's no way that Love Yourself only got a 1% boost. It's been shooting way up the pop bars over the past few hours.
Glad Kendrick's getting such a massive boost. That album is legendary.

First he pulls it from Tidal because he's still working on it, then everything including his website gets screwed up, and now this. Is he trying to make this album flop? What do you mean flop? The album was download over half a million times on the first 24 hours alone from torrent websites. It might not be making him money, but the way people are all over this album, it's hard to call it a flop.

What do you mean? You're refering to illegal downloads? Sure Ah, Ok. Didn't know that. But for an album like Kanye's, which has already set unprecedent download records as many publications are claiming, to be called a flop, I guess it just doesn't make sense. Of course people might soon be over Kanye's album and it'll be forgotten like Britney Jean, as you suggested, but that would be a first for Kanye, all his six albums pop up frequently in music conversations about the last two decades, and considering the talk it's been generating and the reviews it's getting, that seems to be the case again.

YOUR TOP 15: ADELE HITS #1... AGAIN Following the Grammys, there's a lot of speculation as to how the numbers may play out at retail. Keep your eyes peeled for an update tomorrow, once weโve seen a full day of sales. It's safe to say, though, with a performance on the big show under her belt and the power of Valentine's Day-driven purchasing, XL/Columbia's Adele will be #1. Joey+Roryโa respected country duo (and spouses), who were just nominated for Best Duo/Group Country Vocal Performanceโlook like they'll have the highest-charting debut this week. The couple's well-documented personal struggles have elicited a strong response from their fans and community. Adele (XL/Columbia) 160-180k album, 190-210k SPS Chris Stapleton (Mercury Nashville) 55-60k, 63-68k Justin Bieber (RBMG/Def Jam) 45-50k, 95-100k *Joey+Rory (Gaither) 43-48k, 46-51k Now 57 (NOW/Legacy) 41-46k Rihanna (Westbury Road/Roc Nation) 35-40k, 75-80k The Weeknd (XO/Republic) 28-32k, 53-58k 2016 Grammy Nominees (Republic) 27-30k Taylor Swift (Big Machine) 27-30k, 40-45k Kendrick Lamar (TDE/Interscope) 24-27k, 30-35k Sam Hunt (MCA Nashville) 24-27k, 35-40k Coldplay (Parlophone) 21-24k, 28-33k Twenty One Pilots (Fueled By Ramen) 19-21k, 43-48k Kevin Gates (Bread Winnerโs Association) 19-21k, 30-35k Adele (XL/Columbia) 17-19k, 23-26k [21] *Debuts( HDD)

All the Kanye discussion is on his erratic behaviour over Twitter and the lyric about Taylor Swift, not even the actual song itself. I've heard little about the album, any key tracks, its general sound, nothing. Granted, that's only my perspective and that means nothing to nobody else but compared to Yeezus, the info on this album is minimal at best. Besides, can an album flop if its availability is extremely limited?

Somewhat suprised at how weak the grammy boost was for albums this year, except for Adele.

Aren't we only getting like a half week of sales though? Compared to years past when the ceremony was Sunday night and then tracking was Monday-Sunday.

Ratings are down from last year as well. AOTY winner 1989 already sold a lot so big boost was unlikely. If something more smaller like Alabama Shakes won then probably it would have gotten a bigger boost. Although yes Adele is an anomaly, she sold a lot already, not nominated, performed one song that had technical glitches but still got a big boost

Ye, her "Live In London" show was broadcast on BBC America on Valentine's day as well, which likely helped.

Besides, can an album flop if its availability is extremely limited? IDK When I think about it, Yeezus didn't even sell that much, generated no big hits, and yet it's contantly brought up in music discussions and featured on best of lists. Critical reaction to TLOP has been similar so far, if not slightly better. I see a lot of publications and blogs dissecting the album already, the metaphors, the use of samples and whatnot. I'd say there's no reason for this not to hold out at least as well as his last album.

But Yeezus sold really well only for a couple of weeks... If TLOP is not out everywhere in a week or two, nobody will remember it any more. Plus Black Skinhead and Bound 2 from Yeezus were hits. At this point, only way to get a Hot 100 hit out of TLOP is a great video and streams that way. IF anything from it will ever be on Youtube, probably not going to be anyway.

It's probably what the producers asked him to do, much like Carrie Underwood sang a tribute performance the year she won Best New Artist and had a song of hers up for SOTY.

In this age of downloads/streams, the first few days show the biggest impact anyway. It's not like adding on 1-2 more days would add 100k to the estimates.
