I don't see the criticism unwarranted at all. I think at least for me I'll be unbiased torwards any artist, I judge on lyrics, production, vocals, instrumentation and other factors but if like Alan Jackson, Reba or like Martina McBride had songs like "Put Me In The Game Coach" I will be just as critical. same here. I don't care if it's my fav or my least fav. I will give criticism towards anybody.

I Agree with you to a certain point. I just think that people in general seem to put criticism on certain artists instead of other artists. I say let the artist make the music they want to make. I think there are bigger stars, that get less criticism, and less popular ones are the ones that people in general seem to judge. I don't understand why? Do you mean critics? When it comes to the general public, any star, big or not, is a going to get criticism. People are free to judge whoever they want, even more online where people don't have to face the celebrities. You say you don't see bigger stars being criticized, I think you must be talking about critics or just not looking for the general criticism from online users. I don't know how the world of music critics works, but there might be politics behind the reason why a bigger artist making bad music is not as criticized as a smaller artist. yes critics.

Even Oregon Live has it all figured out... --- 5 ways the Band Perry are following Taylor Swift's path to pop stardom Country music remains one of the most commercially successful genres around, with artists like Brad Paisley and Miranda Lambert regularly hitting near the top of the Billboard 200 charts and selling out concert tours worldwide. But since the '90s, the goal for many Southern-bred artists is to either achieve crossover success a la Shania Twain, or to do as Taylor Swift has so successfully done: shoot for the moon and become a bona fide pop star. The Band Perry seems to be the next artist gunning for that kind of fame. The Alabama-bred sibling trio (singer Kimberly Perry and multi-instrumentalists Reid and Neil) have already achieved country stardom on the back of down-home singles like the multi-platinum selling "If I Die Young" and "Better Dig Two." But as of late, the three appear to be positioning their forthcoming third album "Heart + Beat" to help catapult them into the upper echelon of pop music renown. In anticipation of the group's upcoming show on Feb. 20 at Portland's Revolution Hall, here are five ways that The Band Perry has collectively revealed itself to be ready for the big time. 1. The Band Perry has been given an extreme makeover. Gone are the Southern chic outfits that featured lots of dark denim, lace and the occasional splash of leather. In their place are bright colorful clothes that have the Perry siblings looking ready for Coachella rather than the CMA Awards. 2. They're working with top-tier pop songwriters and producers. "Live Forever," the jaggedly rocking first single from "Heart + Beat" was recorded and co-written with RedOne, the Moroccan producer behind some of Lady Gaga's biggest hits. The group also announced by last year that they were working with uber-producer and "The Voice" judge Pharrell Williams on some tunes. 3. They seem to be everywhere. The Band Perry has been engaging in one heck of a blitz-style marketing campaign to drum up attention for their new album. Over the past six months, the three have popped up on the stages of talk shows ("Jimmy Kimmel Live," "The Ellen Show," "Good Morning America"), in the pre-game hoopla surrounding Super Bowl 50, at a recent MusiCares tribute to Lionel Richie, and on concert stages around the world. 4. The three don't seem to be listening to country music anymore. This week, the band shared a Shazam playlist that they put together for their fans. While it includes their own "Live Forever," the rest of the tracks were culled from Top 40 radio. Among their choices: The Weeknd's "I Can't Feel My Face," the Fifth Harmony jam "Worth It," and a few selections by Sia. 5. The Band Perry is all over social media. If you're a fan of the Perry siblings, you have fairly unfettered access to their professional and personal lives. All three are voracious tweeters, are constantly updating their Facebook and Instagram accounts, and have mastered the art of Periscope. You can try to ignore The Band Perry, but the band is going to do their best to make it impossible to do so. -- Robert Ham, for The Oregonian/OregonLive *** www.oregonlive.com/music/index.ssf/2016/02/5_ways_the_band_perry_are_foll.html

Humm... I quite like this one! Way better than the previous mess they were performing and Kimberley sounds great in it. It's definitely 100% pop though... I guess that's how it's gonna be for this era.

This song should've stayed in the dark XD I like it about as much as the best one yet, it's not as bad as the coach one, but it's hard to judge this new accurately because we only have a clip.

I wonder who will sign them now? Maybe they already have a new label. Will be shocking if it's a Nashville/country based label and not one that suits their pop intentions.

So I share your frustration with The Band Perry but I never see you post in threads other than The Band Perry. Is it just that you were a huge fan and they let you down or are there other country artists you like?

Is it just that you were a huge fan and they let you down or are there other country artists you like? It's more of the first... I don't hate that they're making pop music, just that it's so mediocre when they can do better, I'm also not a fan of how their attitudes changed so fast. I like pop more than country, to be honest I'm not a fan of the current country scene, but I was a huge country fan maybe 4, 5 years ago. I always find out about TBP because I follow many TBP accounts and fans on twitter, same with Taylor Swift but there's more people here to update on her music. Sometimes I'll post in pop threads too if I'm interested in the artist/album/song at the moment.

according to Kimberly's twitter they've been in the studio. I don't think actual country music will come out of that, but good pop songs wouldn't be bad either. they shared a list of their favorite songs with Billboard and it speaks for itself. How can you make country music if you don't even listen to it? Kinda sad to see they're staying in the genre just for sales and the sake of their fanbase. www.billboard.com/articles/news/playlists/7264003/the-band-perrys-billboard-playlist

So I understand nothing of this era so far. The Henningsens, who wrote All Your Life and You Lie for TBP (and co-wrote a bunch of other songs) just posted this on FB:

So I understand nothing of this era so far. The Henningsens, who wrote All Your Life and You Lie for TBP (and co-wrote a bunch of other songs) just posted this on FB: It's The Henningsens that help them achieve the folksy sound in their songs. The lyrics are also much better and far more interesting when The Henningsens are involved. I've figured out that The Band Perry needs them because without them their songwriting skills are average at best. They're desperate right now and know their next single has to be a hit, otherwise this album is doomed.

Nicki Minaj collab is real... her name (Onika Tanya Maraj) is in the credits of a new song.

I will say that the image consultants for their Pop transfomation made Reid and Neil way more f#ckable in my eyes. Their hair used to be so tragic.

The Band Perry's "Live Forever" was chosen as Team USAβs Official Song at 2016 Olympics. The announcement was made in New York City at NBCβs Today Show, where the group also performed 3 songs (Live Forecer, Better Dig Two and Done) ... didn't see that coming at all.

I have this feeling they will fail to get a hit with this album and try to go back to country, but honestly I'm curious to see what singles they want to release to country
