I still think it's possible for Leona to have some success in the US. All she needs is the right material. She's signed with Def Jam now and they've arranged so many great opportunities in the US over the last 6 months. She has a handful of collabs she's been doing as well, so hopefully one of them will be released in the US at some point and do well. :) I think she is incredibly talented but she dug her own grave in a sense by releasing tepid AC ballad after tepid AC ballad. I'm not denying her talent but the girl is a bit zzzzzzzzzz Sadly it wasn't Leona's fault for the heavy ballad releases, it was her labels. They should've released "Forgive Me" instead of "I Will Be" in the US and they gave up releasing singles from Echo after "Happy". They didn't bother releasing "Collide" either and they didn't release "Glassheart" at all despite it being a big fan favourite and it charting in some places without promotion (even went top 10 in russian airplay if I remember correctly!). Hopefully with Def Jam they'll be able to guide her single releases to be more uptempo. Would be great to have a solid dance track being released as a single from Leona. In terms of her personality - I don't think that has any bearing on how successful she can be. All she needs is to release the right material. Leona's a lovely girl and far from boring - it's a shame a lot of people don't get the see that.

Well...either she needs to find a way to showcase her "far from boring" personality or get a new team that lets her? I don't know why people can't see something that is intrinsically hers unless she just doesn't show it, but that's just me. Like I said, I think she is immensely talented and there was not one dud on Echo so I would be interested in new material, depending on how good it is and regardless of its commercial appeal.

She does show it through social media/interviews etc, but unless you follow Leona closely as a fan, then you don't really get to see that often. If she managed to get a larger following on social media from success, then her personality will be able to get through to more people. :) I'm hoping that the next album will deliver well. It's being backed/supervised by Def Jam this time and will be her first proper album with them (her previous album was recorded by herself mostly with little influence from the labels she's signed to now). Def Jam have an amazing list of artists she could collab with - she's already doing things in the studio with Alesso and hopefully many others. :)

Leona will be featured on a song for Pitbull's upcoming album, it's called "Only Ones Who Know". It's a dance track from the sound of it - hope it gets a release as a single and does well! Can't wait to hear it. :)
Very short snippet here:

These two gems have been stuck in my head for the past few days. I prefer the demo version of "Don't Let Me Down" that's extended and has slight production changes but I can't find my original file. It's in my Top 5 of Leona tracks.

They did nothing to promote I Am so she's probably better off working as an independent artist at this point.

Def Jam did very well with Leona. She had a big radio tour and multiple TV performances for the album - Good Morning America, Kelly & Michael, The Talk and The Late Show With James Corden. It's just a shame "Thunder" never took off. Hopefully this time round they'll have a sure fire hit of a single as the lead for the next album. Def Jam are also the ones who set her up working with Alesso/Pitbull and many other oppotunities the last 6 months. Hopefully we'll have Leona collab with even more artists at some point. :)

Leona will be releasing a track to raise funds for a campaign against the Yulin dog festival:
We should hear it soon with the #stoptheyulinfestival festival occuring in June. It's a Diane Warren penned track.
Exciting that we'll be getting two new songs from Leona in the next month or so. :)

Some good news - the new contracts with Def Jam have been signed. There's been a bit of a shuffle it seems in terms of her managers. Her current manager Sarah is no more, she's being represented by a new manager - Nicola. Nicola is not new though, in fact she managed Leona from 2007-2012. It's great to see Nicola back and Nicola is involved with Global. That could be good news for radio support in the UK as global acts get play from Capital FM/Heart FM which are two big radio networks in the UK.
Leona is also the #1 candidate to take lead in the Cats broadway musical. Personally I don't want Leona to go down the musical route for at least another 10 years or so. If she does take it, we'll likely not get an album until late 2017/2018 at the earliest.
Apparantley there's some breaking news as well which cannot be told by a fan with sources close to him and we'll find it out from elsewhere soon likely. I'm hoping it isn't about Leona getting the role in Cats and that it's about some sort of big single announcement thing.

A fan who was invited to OneRepublic's album party spoke to Ryan Tedder and confirmed that he's working with Leona again in the studio! Great to see Leona working with Ryan again, they always come up with great material.

At what point does the same person just posting tidbit after tidbit in multiple post succession keeping the thread at the top of the page equate to spam? I think it happens on the Popjustice forum with Leona too I believe. Pretty much just one person in a vacuum, with a couple of other posters chiming in here or there, posting as the only person interested to tell or hear the day to day career minutia of a fading popstar?
I mean could we not just have like a weekly round up of stories like Leona's latest eyebrow threading and her including her backing vocals on a Cheerios commercial? Leona Lundi or something each week, and then it doesn't continuously float to the top part of this forum section every day?

I don't see there being any issue to it and if you care so much that it goes to the upper part of the forum section, perhaps you shouldn't post in this thread? I've only ever posted info regarding mainly significant things, so if you want me to also post a round up of news about insignificant things weekly I'll do that. Including the events she's attending with pictures of her at the events and such. :)

I'm happy for her but it will delay her new album. She will still be able to record whilst doing it and it's not long. I'm sure she'll be able to record and release an album in 2017. We weren't going to get an album until 2017 at the earliest anyway. It's a great way for Leona to get her name out there. :)

Leona will be performing at the CMT awards on Wednesday next week. She'll be performing with Pitbull, but it won't be "Only Ones To Know". Quite a strange combo for a country music awards show. I can understand Leona performing given she's nominated for an award. Wonder what they'll sing?
Hopefully Leona performing with Pitbull again means the song they did for his album will likely become a single. :)

The Future thread is just as sad. I do like Leona's voice, but she's over in the U.S. Stick a fork in her.

Leona will be performing with Pitbull and Cassadee Pope, singing "Messing Around". Not sure how it'll work, but hopefully it'll go well. Leona will be presenting an award at the CMT awards as well. Can't wait to see what she's wearing and how she sounds on the night. :)
Leona's been in rehearsals for Cats as well and has her fitting for her costume. Hoping we'll get a snippet or something of her performing "Memory". Hoping that there'll be some TV performances to promote the musical. Would be great to see Leona perform "Memory" on some TV shows. :)

Glad to know. I usually ignore country awards shows these days, unless someone I want to see is performing. What an odd group of artists.

Apparantley Leona didn't like what Island was doing with her as well - she fired her manager and rehired her old one. Island handled her previous album poorly, so I'm happy she's leaving. Hopefully she'll sign with another branch of universal for global distribution of her music. She's still signed with Def Jam in the US. There's some good news, a Leona fan with reliable sources (has never been wrong) has confirmed that "Only Ones To Know" - a track from Pitbull's upcoming album featuring Leona, is going to be the second single from his album. It's a dance track and I hope it manages to become a hit! We'll also be hearing a song "Home" this week accompanied by a video for the campaign against the Yulin Dog Festival in China. Leona attended the Tony Awards the other night and looked stunning:

The preview of Cats was yesterday and it got a lot of praise from those that went, including praising Leona and her performance of "Memory". There's some rehearsal footage of Leona singing "Memory" and her voice sounds so good:
Can't wait for a full performance of it to be filmed/for the soundtrack to be released!

Leona will be finishing her time in Cats by October 9th. She'll be featured on Hans Zimmer's album coming out October, covering "Now We Are Free" from Gladiator - link. Pitbull's album will should be coming out the end of October as well, so we'll get to hear her on "Only Ones To Know". In addition, Leona will be covering an Amy Winehouse song as part of a project done by her father to raise money for the Amy Winehouse foundation - link. Leona's going to release a single as well, but no clue as to what it could be. Whether it's the collab with Pitbull or a brand new song. Could be a collab with Alesso as she was in the studio with him a bit earlier this year. Lots of exciting things to come after she finishes with Cats!
