Just listened to it on the 96.7 The Coyote stream. Thanks djHayStack ! Very different sound for them for sure. I didn't really like it but maybe after a few listens, I'll change my mind. Perhaps it'll grow on just like it did with Brian and Tyler. No problem. I'm shocked at how much I like it TBH. I've been getting burned out on them, but I think the production has as much to do with it as anything. They normally compress and stack the ever-lovin' Hades out of the vocal, and this is more authentic. Easily the best vocal they've released.

LOVE this song! I can't believe it, either. I didn't like much other than Dirt on the second album. Tyler sounds really, really good on this, too. And the acronym ("high on loving you") definitely isn't corny like I was expecting and works perfectly with the song. This is going to be huge.

Heard this on the radio a couple hours ago, and I love it. Not what I was expecting, but this might be my favorite of theirs outside of "Confession". Definitely not as cheesy as I anticipated, and the vocals are a lot better than anticipated.
I could see this connecting the way "Die a Happy Man" did... Think it'll be huge.

Damn, I like this a lot. The production is tolerable (shockingly) and it has a really good melody. They sound really good here.

You were right this is so catchy. iTunes quality is much better than an Internet stream so it was hard to get a gauge for the song. You are right about the vocal delivery. Perhaps they are becoming better singers so there is no need to compress the vocal and add all those effects and auto tune and what not lol. The lyrics aren't too bad either. That soul production and the melody is infectious and dare I say sexy. I agree with you that this is going to be huge. I could see it being a love song that couples dance to at a wedding or really any event where there is music. Major crossover potential with this. The sales on this will be spectacular.

Absolutely loving this! Definitely different! And was not expecting this to sound like this at all from them.

Wow this was a lot different than I was expecting. I don't love it on first listen, but I think its nice enough. My biggest issue is it doesn't sound that country. I miss the banjo that is usually pretty prominent in their songs. The lyrics are fine, and the chorus is well sung and pretty catchy, but its just missing something that makes me love this. I agree with others though, this should be a giant hit this summer and probably become this year's wedding song.
Also, dare I say this could be a potential Pop crossover? They've had a big hit before and are a household name, and I don't think this is overly country enough to scare off most Pop listeners like other songs. Just a thought. I think the style of the song leaves itself open for an easy Pop remix as well.

Nice production. I'm sure it'll be another hit for them...but I'm struggling to see this one as Country music. At least it'd be doable to get there with their first few singles and the presence of that jangly banjo but this is a pop song to my ears.
Not that it matters to Country radio. I'm sure this one will hit #1 in no time.
Also, music video:

I don't necessarily think putting a banjo in a song makes it country.

And I disagree, "Round Here", "Cruise" and "Get Your Shine On" are all legitimate country songs in my eyes and ears. Sure they have tended to lean a little towards the rock side in the past (which is another reason why I really enjoy them), but for the most part they've been distinctly country IMO.

The melody and phrasing of the verses sounds so familiar. Please help!!!
Much like Thomas Rhett's 'Die A Happy Man' is a clear knock off of Ed Sheeran, this one sounds so similar to a somewhat recent pop/AC hit, but I just can't think of it!!!
Help!!!!
Ps. I enjoy it overall. Confession is BY FAR the only FGL song I both enjoy AND think is good. (The rest is catchy fluff -sing along worthy but you know it's devoid of anything notable). The video is nice, but I just can't take their mannerisms and facial expressions seriously. Also, why are they even a duo? "Not-Tyler" is less utilized than Michelle from Destinys Child. Is he around because he's more photogenic?
Anyway I need help identifying what this song is copying?!??? It's driving me mad?

Okay, wow. I didn't expect to ever say this about a FGL song... but I love this. Best thing they've put out to date. This is fantastic. "Dirt" and "Confession" were tolerable but I couldn't fully appreciate either, but this one I can get behind. I have very low expectations for these guys and I anticipate that they'll go right back to being awful with the next single because I'm sure they'll follow it with something brain dead like "Sun Daze," but I am definitely going to actually enjoy hearing this one on the radio and try to savor that while I can.
That music video was beautifully done, too. Loved the setting. I love the progression/melody of the verses, the production is great (not overblown wall of clunky noises like many of their songs), the second verse lyrics are great, and the harmonies on the chorus sound so good (especially on the "high on lovin' you" part.... ugh <3 ).

When did BK grow that beard? Looks nice on him.
I have to agree. This is a very different song for them, and I think it really unleashes the potential that "Dirt" and especially "Confession" hinted at.

This is certainly better than most of what they've done, but I've never been a big fan of using the term "high" or "drunk" when talking about love. It's one of the reasons why I didn't like Brett Eldredge's "Drunk On Your Love" (although Brett's awful phrasing of that song's lyrics was far worse than the lyrics themselves). Also, this really feels like FGL is trying to follow the Sam Hunt/Thomas Rhett path.
But, with all that said, I can say that I like this well enough. I do wish it was more country-sounding though. It seems like so few modern country songs incorporate actual country instruments these days, but then I hear a song like Josh Abbott Band's "Wasn't That Drunk" and I know it's possible for modern country songs to sound both contemporary and country. "H.O.L.Y.", on the other hand, while having a nice arrangement, sounds mostly like AC/HAC, or at least it might have fit on those formats in recent years. There's really nothing inherently country about its production.

In recent interviews they promised a song and a more mature album. It seems to me that this piece keep that promise (for the lead single). If "Die an happy man" was the country song of 2015, I do not see why this can not do the same ... just to say that nowadays define a country song on the radio is very complicated, especially listening to the many new singles of the genre's stars (Keith, Kenny, Blake, Thomas Rhett, Jason). In addition there is an increasing tendency to release very AC / HAC oriented songs (Thomas Rhett, Cam, Tim McGraw recently).
I make you a question: in the last bulletin of Billboard many DJs complain of ballads's excess released as the lead single and also this song from FGL goes in this direction ... do you think why? This creates mani problems for radio's playlist and those who will give faster songs and rhythm will have a much better chance of being heard?

The production reminds me a bit of Coldplay's Everglow, lol.
I like this alot. With a few lyrical changes, this could easily be in a Maroon 5 album though.

Well, this is... it's...it's not bad. That was tough to get out. The production is pretty good, not overwhelming, like a lot of what they've done. The song is actually pretty good, the acronym doesn't stand out glaringly, but the title still didn't have to be one. I can see why they didnt like it at first, it's good, so that doesn't fit in with their style too much. It's just a shame that Tyler can't sing to save his life. Why can't Brian ever have the lead, I don't even know what he sounds like? This will be a first that isn't a station changer, "Confession" almost was, but I still had to sometimes. Hopefully, they continue down this road.

This is really a great song. They nailed it and they definitely followed through on their promise which so many other artists lately haven't been doing.
I just yearn for the days of twang and fiddle. :(

Man! This is so good! "Dirt" blew me away when they released it and this song will compete with Dan & Shay's "From The Ground Up" as the love song of the summer!
