Maybe the new single hasn't been confirmed by Billboard or Britney yet because they wanted to keep it as a 'surprise'

So it's a medley. Would be cool to be a mix of her greatest hits (Baby, Crazy, Oops, Slave, Toxic, Womanizer, World Ends, etc) leading up to the performance of the new single. She won't do that many songs

At least she'll actually be in the tribute this time.

Granted he was earning an achievement award of sorts, but Britney is also earning the Millennium Award, so it's totally plausible.

However there hasn't been a performance on Billboard over six or seven minutes and I think we'll get four to five songs.

Will this be her biggest performance since...2007 VMAs??? God I don't even remember the last time she did a high-profile performance. I know she made an appearance for S&M but beyond that my memory is failing me.

I'm not saying there will or won't be, all I'm saying is it's completely plausible, especially with this particular award show being more about the performances than the awards.

You must be confusing the VMAs which was the Vanguard Award with this particular award and show.

Besides that there's her brief s&'m and till the world ends performances a couple years back

If it's considered that the BBMAs performance is on May 22, I would say that it will be released on May 20 instead. Another possibility is that it will be out on Sunday at midnight, but I hope this doesn't happen.

As expected, out May 20th. It's photoshoped, I have access to that site, her single is not listed and if you pay further attention to the details, it doesn't even have a propoer catalog number while others do.

^I am not amused. Unless by summer they mean late May...specifically May 20th. Although, leave it to Team Britney to coordinate a Millennium Award and huge performance slot all for the promo of exactly nothing.

I doubt the song is coming before the BBMA appearance regardless. Isn't she just performing her old hits? If they're smart, they'll use the hype from her performance (assuming its amazing) and then do a big press release for the single/album after like what they did for "Circus".

I listened to that podcast this morning and didn't get the impression that Bradley did that it was necessarily getting shifted back. Riccitelli didn't define the specific date for "Can't Stop The Feeling" either, just saying it was coming in May, so I just figured the interview had been recorded a few weeks ago (I think April 22 - if I remember correctly, he mentioned it being a Friday and the week after Sia's Coachella performance) and he couldn't spill the beans just yet.

I'm glad you mentioned that it was recorded several weeks ago - I don't even think the performance had been announced at that point, so you're right, even if he knew, he probably couldn't spill the beans. At this point with all the shit going around, I wish Team Britney would just say SOMETHING about it. I get it if they're trying to go for a surprise, but if it's a true surprise why has Robin Leach told us everything he has? UGH!

Truth be told I'm not expecting it at the BBMAs. Not because it doesn't make sense—it makes perfect sense, and that's why it won't debut. I don't want to call her career in a state of disrepair, but she's so far beyond giving a f**k and her team doesn't really seem to care about racking up commercial hits either so much as producing music for the sake of keeping her in the "steady making money" zone of relevancy.
That, and Billboard would probably hype the living s**t out of it if they knew she was debuting her new single. That's guaranteed ratings.

Even if we give S&S full hit status - that's almost 4 years. Sadly WB with all the hype came and went in an instant. Four to five years without big hits and, frankly (and thankfully) not big tabloid/TMZ-worthy buzz, she's kind of out of the white hot light. BUT, I always believe seminal artists like Britney can be right back on top with the right song. I just hope the music is great.
