We Are The World - USA for Africa Trust me, it's gotten TONS of criticism and is looked back as a joke by many, including internet reviewers. Yeah, you are right I remember the internet reviewers complaining about the song back then in 1985. It was a riot. Looks like the thread title should be changed to: name a #1 song that you think didn't get criticism and I prove you wrong. Another song didn't get a lot of criticism was I Will Always Love You. Especially given the fact that it was #1 for so many weeks.

Did Dark Horse get any criticism? I think everyone was happy it reached number 1 and were calling it KPs best song. I remember people saying her Grammy performance was demonic and satanic and how she was trying to bring Satan to the Grammys

Maroon 5 - One More Night. It feels like the most average pop song and I've barely ever heard any criticism of it this thread backs up that claim

Not much hate for the actual song STIUTK, but this thread is going into anything related to the song. Like if I mention Uptown Funk, because the song itself received little criticism but people complain that it spent too much time at #1. Not much criticism for the actual song but instead for its chart run.

Fact: A song blocking another one from #1 doesn't diminish the quality of the song. People are hateful at the song's success and not the song itself. That rebuttal is getting tiresome and we haven't even hit page 3.

That rebuttal is getting tiresome and we haven't even hit page 3. Thats true. Thats why it receives criticism. A reason it receives criticism in a way that make people call it an awful song is because it can get overplayed badly on radio that people could eventually get sick of it. That is how I was with Uptown Funk. But then once radio stopped overplaying it, I started to like it a lot again.

"Someone Like You" and "Hello" by Adele? "See You Again" by Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth?

"See You Again" by Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth? Many thought it was insincere, desperate, and extremely tacky. I liked the chorus and Charlie's own solo acoustic version but I thought the released version was horrible.

Just a reminder that the thread title doesn't say "No" criticism; it says "least" criticism. So here's my ranking of 2015 #1s from most to least; let me know where you disagree!

"Someone Like You" and "Hello" by Adele? Dirty brown water trash. If it doesn't receive hate, that's kind of a shame because they are a lot worse than any other #1 listed here.

Some felt the song was a deliberate MJ knockoff and that the video was simultaneously praising and then shading him by first having The Weeknd dance and sing like him while dressing like him and then shading him by being set on fire at the end.

Cheap Thrills didn't receive that much hate for a Number 1 I don't think. I think people were just happy Sia finally got a Number 1 hit.

I don't remember much hate for STIUTK back in 2012. It's a bad song and is one that I generally use to exemplify how terrible 2012 was for the Top 10 of the Hot 100. Although it's far from the worst major hit that that year has to offer. I just realized Just Give Me A Reason got no hate from what I recall Boring background music from an artist that used to be interesting and fun. I assume that "Harlem Shake", "Rolling In The Deep", and "We Are The World" are all jokes, right?

For such a successful song, Uptown Funk has received very little hate from what I can tell.

I don't think there's been a lot of hate for That's What I Like or Starboy so far. Then again, they were only on top for a week each.

I think that the #1s that got the least criticism aren't the most popular ones like Uptown Funk but the ones that not so many people seem to really care about or have an opinion on like Cheerleader.

Most people I know love the song and still sing when it comes on.
