^As always, if you see a weird jump for an old song and *** next to it, it just means it's appearing on a chart it was not on the day before. So if a song on a 50-position chart went 50-51-50, it could easily show a huge drop one day and a huge gain the next.
I am wondering if Drake may retake the airplay #1 on Billboard again this week, since he retook it before when Mediabase was showing a similarly small gap between him and JT.
Also looks like Rihanna is on course for yet another airplay top ten. Given that "Controlla" is doing so well for Drake, and Rihanna is already promoting multiple singles, they may wait a bit longer to give a bigger push to "Too Good" (which has "obvious #1" written all over it).

^ Yeah her plate is pretty full with 4 singles competing against each other, they could let up a bit, although I guess Sledgehammer isn't really a single though?
I don't know about Too Good having #1 "written all over it." It's a pleasant song, but it's kind of mediocre-ish, like a Take Care Pt. 2.

I've been listening to Apples Beats 1 radio a lot for the last couple of weeks and they are CONSTANTLY playing "Come Down" by Anderson.Paak and "Tilted" by Christine And The Queens. I wonder if those songs will start getting airplay elsewhere as well. Has there been any articles written on the impact of Beats 1 radio in general yet? It seems like an awesome "radio" station where they actually take music seriously and "broadcasting" in most of the world simultaneously seems pretty powerful...?? I'm sure there are people here who know much more about that than I do.

Well Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris have pulled out a nice PR stunt as the controversy over "TIWYCF" is giving it new life. Up to #2 at iTunes.

Yeah, most songs seemed to be decreasing in streams over the past few weeks overall, but strangely some of the only ones that had bullets on Billboard's Streaming Songs were all 3 of Twenty One Pilots' hits, even Stressed Out. |

My take on the next #1: Cheap Thrills is going to reach #1, TIWYCF will not reach #1. Cheap Thrills is gaining too fast (especially in radio) for TIWYCF to have a chance.
Wouldn't surprised if Cheap Thrills became a 5+ week #1 because nothing else is really strong enough (in my opinion) and One Dance has held onto the #1 spot because of that reason.

TIWYCF has much stronger streaming than CT though, and if 2016 Hot 100 charts taught us anything it's that streaming is a huge factor (it's the only reason why Work, for example, is like 25 spots higher than it would be if it were just sales, airplay and Spotify)
That being said, I think the next #1 will probably be a big debut i.e. something that's not out yet, and not CT or TIWYCF. When are the Katy and Bruno songs supposed to come out again?

I guess Taylor Swift's rep confirmed that Taylor Swift wrote the song It was basically known when the song dropped that Swift helped write it and people said it sounded like her vocals were on it. So, for it to suddenly be confirmed that's true is certainly suspicious. And then Harris immediately reacted to the news, and now it's a big story and the song has increased in sales and streams. Not sure when people will finally be over Swift's act. |

As far as airplay goes, Sia is obviously getting into high power and will soar to the top on Pop. However, Rhythmic has been a little more hesitant in embracing the song there, while TIWYCF is on the cusp of exploding there. Cheap Thrills has some room to grow on HAC, but its already Top 3 there.. TIWYCF has the streaming advantage (which accounts for nearly 50% of the chart), and might even end up having the sales advantage if it shows longevity after all the hype from the feud dies down. It might be closer than you guys think.... Oh, but then you have Drake who has yet to release the video  |

Comparison between TIWYCF and Cheap Thrills from last chart:

The iTunes boost for Calvin's song is amazing tbh. But I agree it won't last long, unless they can somehow drag this story out for longer and the media keep reporting it. Otherwise in 2 weeks time people will forget and it will rely mostly on radio airplay for its sales (like most other songs).
I don't have a clue what will be the next #1. It's interesting in a way, because with the Hot 100 it's often obvious 2 months in advance what will go to #1, but now I have no idea. I could see Sia and Calvin both missing it. If Drake puts One Dance on Youtube (even just an audio video) it will most likely boost the streams massively.
Also, Cheap Thrills is a really good song for rhythmic radio. I think it could end up top 10 there even if its climb is slow atm. If Rihanna had recorded it, it could've gone #1 on that format.
