This song has had an incredibly high burn rate on me - more so than any other country single in recent memory. I LOVED this when it first came out and for several weeks after that, but now it just kinda bores me when I hear it. I do hope it can make it a little further into the top 10, but I'm ready for the next single already.

This song might be over. Eric Church & Rhiannon Giddens have lost almost 500k and 96 spins the past 2 days.
I love this song a lot and I find this songs sudden slowdown and apparent collapse shocking. It seemed to me like it was moving well but ever since the start of the year this song has just crawled along. Luke Bryan is the nearest competition, and if the current trend continues Eric Church will fall below him.
There is a noticeable gap between "Kill A Word"/"80s Mercedes"/"Fast"/ and the nearest song after that is Jason Aldean and Lauren Alaina and there's a large gap so besides Luke Bryan, Eric Church has no competition really within the next couple of weeks.
Just find it strange this is on life support at this point.

His live (mostly unplugged) album from Red Rocks is now on Spotify/iTunes.
Includes 6 album tracks from Mr Misunderstood and a magnificent cover of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah". Opening track is Mistress Named Music, and during the song he sings classics "Like a Rock", "Danny's Song", "Piano Man", and "Troubadour". I highly recommend it.

^ Unfortunately, I don't think even Eric could save Trouba-Bore for me. Other than that, not a bad choice of covers. Covering "Piano Man" is usually cliche (ohai Phil Vassar, you tryhard), but if anyone I could trust Eric to do a good job.

Oh yeah, I've been meaning to post in here. For whatever reason, for about a month now my radio station has played the regular version of this song, where Rhiannon doesn't have any solo lines. I find that really weird, since they definitely played the edited version before.

Looks like this one has caught a bit of fire. Any chance at #1?

I don't know ... it depends how quickly take Luke and Jason behind Eric. If both have a quick conversion into top 10, i'll predict maximum a top 3 for Eric but not #1.

When this was slowing down in the teens, I was really hoping it would go away soon. I liked this quite a bit when it was first released, but I am so over it now. The fatigue I have for this song is so high.

I absolutely love this song. Loved it when it was released and still love it today. But, what I noticed when I attended his show in Kansas City a few weeks ago was that the majority of the fans didn't seem to agree with me. Everyone went absolutely nuts for "Record Year" (probably the most response from the crowed the entire show), but not so much for this song. Hoping for a #1, but definitely can see that not happening.

EMI Nashville ran a "convert" ad in Country Aircheck for "Kill A Word" today. They'll definitely push this into the top 5 at least. We'll see how far exactly this can climb. It's gained 175 spins and 1.7 million in audience so far this Mediabase tracking week.

I just watched this man perform for 3 and a half hours in Cleveland. 39 songs. Absolutely nuts how incredible he is.

I see he covered Michael Stanley Band's My Town in Cleveland. Would have loved to seen that. One of my favorites from the 80's.

If the Mediabase bullet is any indication. This has done all it can. "Kill A Word" only gained 43 spins and got passed by Lauren Alaina and Luke Bryan, expect the former to also pass Eric Church/Rhiannon Giddens on Billboard tomorrow night as well.
This song has never burned on me from the beginning and my favorite part is still Rhiannon Giddens and her solo lines (she actually just released an album if anybody wants to check it out), but I do believe it is about time for EMI Nashville to let go of this one once Eric Church co-host CCUSA in a few weeks. By then it'll be in the Top 5 and hopefully by then the song will be so out of gas the label will have no choice but to give up!

I believe a top 5 with this song would be a great result for Eric; It does not seem to have great strength on radio and it has too many competitors.

This definitely ended up being a decent sized hit. I'm content with its chart run.

I've heard two different stations today play the album version with only Eric singing the second verse. Strange.

Due to weather/stadium/equipment problems, Eric performed a 3 hour acoustic show in Calgary last night. Of the artists nominated for Entertainer of the Year, I'm damn certain each and every one of them would have canceled.
Makes total sense the sellout pretty boy dancers like FGL and Luke are nominated instead.

I really hope this song will give up real soon as it's quite clear that this song is not going to go any higher.
It's great that this song has managed to get as high as it has, but this song is treading water at this point it seems.

Luke at least does acoustic a fair amount, FGL does acoustic pre-shows, and hard to believe that artists like Keith and Carrie wouldn't have been able to pull off an acoustic set. It's totally cool to love Eric, and to think he should be nominated/want to praise him, but no need to trash others in the process.

Not to mention, there's nothing wrong with wanting a full-band performance. Acoustic shows are nice, but I would've been pretty disappointed if I'd gone to see the Storyteller Tour and Carrie Underwood just sat on a stool the whole time. She has the voice to pull it off, but I wouldn't enjoy it as much.

In fact if he was I'd be kinda mad.

Eric co-hosts Country Countdown USA the weekend of March 25th-26th. I know "Kill A Word" has been treading water lately but I'm expecting EMI Nashville to put a last ditch push to try and get this a top 5 peak. The label could let it go after next week though, depending on how much resistance stations show. It's definitely at the end of the line and I'm fully expecting them to release "Round Here Buzz" the first week of April.

Eric should be one of a plethora of people debuting new music at the ACM's

Eric should be one of a plethora of people debuting new music at the ACM's I'm quiet positive we'll get more singles from Mr. Misunderstood. Eric in an interview with Rolling Stone, back when "Kill A Word" was released, said they would go with a few more singles off the album. I doubt that 7 will get released (lol) but I'm sure 1-2 more singles will come from this record...then perhaps another surprise album release -- Eric mentioned in an interview after Thanksgiving in 2015 with Storme Warren that they'll surprise release more albums in the future and maybe the next one.

Maybe the "7-8 singles from this album" claim is part of the surprise....hmm. You never know! But I'm guessing definitely Round Here Buzz. And then maybe a lead up-tempo single debut at the CMA's?? Love Chattanooga Lucy and Knives, but don't see them as radio releases. So we will see what happens.

Although we might get that from Luke, but probably not (or he could just do Fast as it will be #1 that week).

EMI Nashville will max spin "Kill A Word" this week. This ad was in today's daily Country Aircheck's email. Maybe Eric can land at #5 on Mediabase this Sunday but "Think A Little Less" has to fall below for that to happen.

Hopefully "Think A Little Less" can fall below so this can get Top 5.
Such a shame this song just slowly died out once it hit the Top 15, because I thought it was at a pretty good pace beforehand.

"Kill A Word" is through, as expected. Eric lost 110 spins in today's Mediabase update.

"Kill A Word" lost 634 spins in yesterday's update. Safe to say this one was definitely ready to be rid of by radio.
