These developments push down Karen Aoki and Daisuke Hasegawa's "Great Days" down 1-3. "Blood Oranges In The Snow" holds at #4, while "Absolution" drops 3-5. "All That", "Meet Me..." and "White Light" all drop by 1 spot, going down to #6, 7 and 8 respectively. Outside the Top 10, Metallica's "One" rebounds 15-13, and "Chanson noire" moves 16-14 off its debut yesterday. Stay tuned for more! -JeffRayGun

"Bad Reputation" by Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, the theme song to "Freaks & Geeks", has a hotshot debut at #3 primarily off of listening it in the title sequence of the show. Michael Whalen's "I Have Loved You For A Thousand Lifetimes" and "Swimming In A Lovely Sea Of You" hold strong numbers as they rise one spot 5-4 and 6-5 respectively. Harmonium's "Chanson noire" dips 4-6 from its peak. It's probably one of the songs to have taken the longest to reached its current peak, as it hit #4 on its 17th day on the charts, over 2 weeks since it appeared on the charts! "Great Days", the #1 song of December 2016, dips 3-7, while the #1 on the previous chart of December 28th 2016, "99" by MOB CHOIR, falls 1-8. Styx's "Come Sail Away" debuts at #9 thanks to a feature in the first episode of Freaks & Geeks, while Tegan and Sara's "Stop Desire" debuts at #10. Below the Top 10, Jon Bellion's "All Time Low" continues rebounding up as it moves 14-13, and Alan Walker debuts a new song, "Routine", at #14 with David Whistle. The drop-outs for this chart are all songs that had charted earlier this year but re-appeared for a year-end boost: "Overnight" by The Wild Feathers, "Dancing Crazy" by Miranda Cosgrove, "True Love Waits" by Radiohead, "Your Type" by Carly Rae Jepsen, and "Never Leave The Sun" by Yanni ft. Leslie Mills. One song doesn't particularly fit this category, "Warning" by Air Dubai ft. Patricia Lynn, which was a song that had debuted in the "December 2015 blackout" and thus was mainly charting to gain points it had never gotten a chance to get. Stay tuned for more! :) -JeffRayGun

January 28th 2017's ChartNeil Cicierega sh*ts out a second #1 hit!Neil Cicierega's "Sh*t" is the new #1 song on January 28th's chart. Look below for further details. "Sh*t" jumps 3-1 off its debut yesterday, marking Neil Cicierega's 2nd foray to the top of the charts. His previous one was with "Bustin'", a previously stand-alone song which is included in Neil Cicierega's latest mashup album, "Mouth Moods". "Sh*t" is the closing song of the album, mashing up many songs such as Spice Girls' "Wannabe", the "This sh*t is bananas" line from "Hollaback Girl", and the chorus of Limp Bizkit's "My Way" which was reworked to make references to defecating. This song is the first expletive to hit #1, but not the first profane song to hit the charts. In fact, Nine Inch Nails profaned the charts with "March of the F*ckheads" back in August last year, which peaked at #2. Ed Sheeran's "Castle on the Hill" moves 5-2 after spending two consecutive days holed up on its #5 debut. The song is one of two of Sheeran's new debuts from his upcoming album "Divide", and is so far his only hit on the JeffCharts. Mobley's "Hound The World" roars into the Top 5, 9-3. The song marks the band's first hit on the charts, which was discovered thanks to Spotify's "Discover Weekly" function. "Paris" by Willy William ft. Cris Cab drops 2-4. The song has now spent a whole week in the top 5 proper! Kanye West and Jay-Z's "Diamonds From Sierra Leone" remix falls 4-5, and Hot Dad's "Big Money Salvia" falls off the top 1-6. Operators' "Cold Light" gains a boost as it moves 8-7, while Kanye West's biggest #1 to date, "Gold Digger" (which spent 4 days at #1), with Jamie Foxx, falls 6-8. The Chainsmokers' "Paris" falls 7-9, while Men At Work's "I Like To" returns to the Top 10 as it rebounds 11-10. Below the Top 10, "Only One" by Illenium ft. Nina Sung makes its 2nd re-entry at #17, and "Wallspin" by Neil Cicierega gains a bit off its debut as it inches to #18. Neil Cicierega's "Tiger" dropped off the charts after debuting at #18 yesterday. Stay tuned for future updates! March 4th 2017Green Light holds #1, Two Steps From Hell debuts new singleLorde's "Green Light" continues to dominate in its 2nd day in spite of a close challenge from former #1 "Something Just Like This". Read further for details! Green Light holds its #1 debut for a 2nd day. This song marked Lorde's first arrival to the spot. Previously, "Team" and "Royals" both peaked at #2, in January 2014 and September 2013 respectively. She also appeared on Disclosure's Magnets, which peaked at #3 in October 2015. This marks her first solo single in over 3 years, and her first appearance overall in over a year. The Chainsmokers & Coldplay's "Something Just Like This" rebounds 3-2 after having fallen off it's 2 day #1 debut, regaining a lot of the points it had lost the day before. It could possibly challenge "Green Light" for the #1 in the coming days. SJLT marked The Chainsmokers' 3rd #1 hit: their previous hits were "Roses" which held the spot for 3 days, and "Closer" which held #1 for a single chart frame. It also marked Coldplay's 5th #1 hit, their previous ones having been the mega smash "Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall" which held the spot for 6 days between August and September 2016, "Speed of Sound" which held for 3 days, "Hymn for the Weekend" which held for 3 days, and "A Head Full of Dreams" which held for 1 day. Brian H. Kim and Patrick Stump's spoilerific "The Ballad of Star Butterfly" rebounds 4-3. This marks Star VS The Forces of Evil's 2nd venture into the JeffCharts, but its first in the Top 5; the theme song "I'm From Another Dimension" by Brad Breeck had a brief chart run in the bottom of the charts back in October 2015. "You Are Dead" by Kent Carmical, Joe and Maura Sparks falls 2-4 off its peak yesterday, but continues to hold a decent showing. twenty-one pilots' "Migraine" holds its #5 peak as its predecessor single "Car Radio" fell off the charts today. This marks their 5th single, and the 4th to hit the Top 5. The only single which failed to hit that area was "Fairly Local", which only peaked at #7. In the rest of the Top 10, "Meant To Be" by Two Steps From Hell holds #6, "Amber" by 311 rebounds massively 19-7, "A New Way To Bleed" by Evanescence holds #8, "La complainte de la butte" by Zaz holds #9, "We Will Rock You (Fast)" by Queen falls 7-10. Outside the Top 10, "Remembrance" by Two Steps From Hell rebounds 16-12, "Dancin' In Circles" by Lady Gaga bounces back slightly 15-13, and Two Steps From Hell make a new debut with "Forever In My Dreams" at #16. This marks the act's 5th single to hit the charts in over a month. Looking at the performance of 2SFH this past month, 3 singles hit the Top 2: Remembrance hit #1, Frozen Moment hit #2, and Meant to Be (recharting after a dismal run back in 2015) hit #2. Only one single really flopped so far: "Sweet May" which went no further than #13 when the group mass-debuted 3 songs in a single day. The group also had a myriad of minor hits over the years: In 2014 "Jump" hit their highest peak at the time, #4, "Lux Aeterna" peaked at #8 back in December 2014 and briefly recharted in 2016, "Decimator" and "Day Becomes Night" were brief flashes in October and January 2016 respectively. The group's meteoric rise to popularity in the span of a month after years of disappointing performance is nothing short of inspiring! Sources say that "Lux Aeterna" might be re-released sometime this month in hopes of giving the song a new peak! ------- EDIT: Here's the rundown for those who don't want to click a link 01 (01) Lorde - Green Light (1 - 1) (2) 02 ( 03) The Chainsmokers & Coldplay - Something Just Like This (1 - 1 - 3 - 2) (4) 03 ( 04) Brian H. March 10th 2017Slide slides to #1, cutting Green Light's streak short(Only a 1:30 preview, sorry!) Calvin Harris hits #1 for the 2nd time with "Slide" as Frank Ocean and Migos mark their first; Lorde is cut short of a record-tying run with "Green Light". Read further below. Calvin Harris, Frank Ocean and Migos' "Slide" slides into the top position on today's chart. This marks Calvin's first #1 hit, "Acceptable In The 80's" having been his first back in July 2016. The features, on the other hand, are newcomers to the #1. Frank Ocean had a minor hit with "Self Control" off his long-awaited new album "Blonde", but it peaked at #4 and didn't stick around much longer after. Migos, meanwhile, are newcomers to the JeffCharts overall. Lorde's "Green Light" recedes 1-2 after an astounding consecutive 7 day run at the top of the charts! How is this special? This is a feat that hasn't been replicated since July 2016, when David Bowie's "Subterraneans" held the top for 8 consecutive days. 8 days, also, is the current record for the longest consecutive #1 run atop the charts. This record is currently tied between "Ludwig Gorranson" with "If I Die Before You" (Jan 29th - Feb 5th 2015) and the aforementioned "Subterraneans" (June 30th - July 7th). Furthermore, Lorde also joins an elite of songs with her 7-day #1 run: only 10 songs have managed this feat in the 3+ years of the JeffCharts. Here is a list of these songs: - Murray Gold - The Long Song (7)
- Ludwig Gorranson - If I Die Before You (8)
- Matchbox Twenty - Unwell (8)
- Globus - One Truth (7)
- Murray Gold - Song of Freedom (8)
- REO Speedwagon - Can't Fight This Feeling (7)
- SHIROCK - Everything Burns (7)
- Lifehouse - Everything (10)
- David Bowie - Subterraneans (8)
- Lorde - Green Light (7)
EDIT: "Green Light" also holds the current record for longest #1 run of 2017 so far. The runner-up is Zaz's "La complainte de la butte", which nabbed 6 non-consecutive #1 days throughout February. Michael Whalen's "The Big Sleep" falls 2-3 off its peak. This is Michael Whalen's 4th hit, and 3rd Top 2 hit. His last venture was with "Swimming In A Lovely Sea Of You" (#1 peak) and "I Have Loved You For A Thousand Lifetimes" (#2 peak) back in December 2016. Saint Mesa's "Imagination" floats up 7-4, entering the Top 5 and marking the band's first entry in that range. "Forever In My Dreams" rebounds 10-5, bouncing back into the Top 5 after failing to pierce beyond its #4 peak. "We Fly High" by Jim Jones flies 18-6 off its debut, and predictions point that it might continue to rise higher in the coming days. Coldplay's "Adventure of a Lifetime" peters out early as it falls 6-7, continuing its fall from its #3 debut. Speaking of Coldplay, their collaboration with The Chainsmokers, "Something Just Like This", continues to free fall 4-8 after failing to regain the top spot from "Green Light" for 3 days (from March 4th to March 7th). Twenty One Pilots' "Migraine" drops 5-9, while "You Are Dead" rebounds 11-10 into the Top 10. Outside the Top 10, "The Ballad of Star Butterfly" rebounds 12-11, while The National debut "Sorrow" at #17 and Paper Route debut "Chariots" at #18. "All The Way Up" by Fat Joe, Remy Ma, French Montana and InfaRed and "Chained to the Rhythm" by Katy Perry featuring Skip Marley are the casualties of today's chart, two songs that had a decent and a great run respectively. I expect "Chained to the Rhythm" to have a strong showing at the end of the year! ;P --- 01 ( 03) Calvin Harris ft. March 16th 2017"Ghost" by VHS Collections nabs the first newcomer #1 in a while!VHS Collection are the first new leading act to nab a #1 this month! Also, Grimes, Shawn Mendes, Ed Sheeran and The Knocks enter the Top 10 in a hectic week. Read below for a breakdown: "Ghost" by VHS Collection moves 2-1 to nab the first #1 from a leading new act in a while! The last new main act to get a #1 was Deep Blue Something with "Breakfast at Tiffany's", back in February 25th for 2 days. This means it has been 17 days since the last newcomer #1: Zaz's "La complainte de la butte" was a recurring #1, and had charted "Sous le ciel de Paris" in January; "Something Just Like This" was from the Chainsmokers, who have had a decent run of hits in 2016 and 2017; Lorde charted two non-#1s with "Royals" and "Team", and featured in the #3-peaking Magnets with Disclosure; Calvin Harris also appeared in "Acceptable In The 80's"; Lowercase Noise have had one hit each year: "A Highway Shall Be There" in 2014, "I Want To Live Again" in 2015 and "What Could There Be Out There To Hurt Me?" in 2016. This means that VHS Collection is the first new act to nab a #1 in a while! Grimes and Aristophanes' "Scream" vaults 20-2 off its debut yesterday. This is Grimes' 3rd hit on the JeffCharts, and the first since her two back-to-back #1s in 2014 with Oblivion and Genesis. This also marks Aristophanes' first appearance on the charts, and the very first Taiwanese language song on the charts! (Correct me if that's the wrong language, I'm not 100% sure myself). The SeeB remix of Shawn Mendes' "Stitches" roars into the charts at #3. The original song had a brief run in the lower parts of the charts back in late September 2016, but the SeeB remix has brought this song back into the charts in full force. In fact, since the compilation of this chart, the song has vaulted in "mindplay" and seems all but certain to take the #1 spot in today's chart. To the dismay of some people I know, Ed Sheeran's "Galway Girl" jumps 14-4, marking Ed's 2nd Top 5 hit. Working and Paying and Living and Dying by Lowercase Noises dips 1-5 due to the strong showing of the new Top 4, after a strong 4 days at #1. "Chariots" by Paper Routes rebounds 12-6, while mkatwood's "You RePEARLsted In The Wrong Neighborhood, a Steven Universe-themed shitpost song, falls 5-7 off its debut yesterday. Kanye West and Lupe Fiasco's "Touch The Sky" falls 3-8 after hitting a new peak yesterday. The Big Sleep by Michael Whalen continues its fall as it drops 4-9. Carly Rae Jepsen and The Knocks' "Love Me Like That" rise 18-10 after struggling to rise out of the lower echelons of the charts for two days. This marks The Knocks' first appearance in the Top 10, but their 2nd hit: their previous one was "I Wish (My Taylor Swift)" with Matthew Koma, which peaked at #11. This also marks Carly Rae Jepsen's 7th Top 10 hit, and her first since December 2016 gave us the smash that was "All That". Below the Top 10, the only non-falling song is Light It Up by OneRepublic, which debuts at #17. Today's dropouts are "We Fly High" by Jim Jones, which saw its run cut short by the onslaught of new songs, and "You Are Dead" by Kent Carmical, Joe Sparks and Maura Sparks. This song seems to finally be dead, dead, dead. Its run should give it a decent showing in the Month-End rankings' Top 10 for the month, however! --- 01 ( 02) VHS Collection - Ghost (2 - 1) (2) 02 ( 20) Grimes ft. "Si" and "Prends garde à ta langue" by French artist Zaz make a double debut in the Top 2, marking Zaz's 3rd and 4th hits respectively. "Si" is also Zaz's 2nd #1 hit, her previous one being "La complainte de la butte" which spent 6 non-consecutive days at #1. Furthermore, this puts Zaz in the position of the 2nd biggest debuting act of 2017 for the charts, second only to Illenium, whom has managed to have 5 songs, 3 of them being #1 hits. On top of this, Zaz is the first artist in over a month to debut 2 songs in the Top 2; the last one to do so was Australian band The Basics on May 17th with Hey Rain! and Tunaomba Saidia off their 2015 album "The Age of Entitlement".
The Flame by Cheap Trick vaults back 8-3 in its 19th day on the charts, making this song a fairly clear shoo-in for the #1 song of June. Every other song falls as a result of the new debuts: Central Park by Lifehouse is dislodged 1-4 after 4 days at #1, The Man by The Killers falls 2-5, Swim Against The Tide by The Japanese House falls 5-6, Sorry by Halsey drops 3-7, No More Parties In L.A. falls 4-8, PRIME falls 6-9 and Keep Running by Tei Shi falls 7-10.
Outside the Top 10, Trivecta, Eminence and Aloma Steele mark their first debut as "Now You Know" bows in at #19. Miley Cyrus marks her 2nd chart entry with Malibu as it enters at the very bottom. Her last entry was "We Can't Stop" in October 2016, which scored 2 days at #1.
