Bon Iver gets the edge this morning for #1 on this week’s HITS SPS and Album Sales charts. Columbia’s Solange, currently #1 at iTunes, will provide a solid challenge. YMCMB/Republic’s Lord of Streaming Drake, meanwhile, could play the role of spoiler, as Views has not dipped below 50k SPS since release. Here are this week’s key debuts.
Bon Iver (Jagjaguwar) 54-58k SPS, 49-53k album Solange (Columbia) 47-51k, 34-38k Van Morrison (Caroline) 20-23k, 19-22k Bob Weir (Legacy/Columbia) 18-21k, 17-20k Banks (Harvest) 17-20k, 14-16k John Prine (Oh Boy) 15-17k, 14-16k Regina Spektor (Sire) 13-15k, 12-14k Opeth (Nuclear Blast) 12-14k, 11-13k Drive By Truckers (ATO) 11-13k, 10-12k
Though this most recent slate of releases doesn’t particularly underscore the point, Q4 has begun. Pass the vape and pour the scotch.

Wow, those are fantastic numbers for Solange, all things considered.

Those are amazing numbers for Solange. Her last EP gave her a lot of indie cred but was more of a slow burner - debuted at #157 on the Billboard 200. I'm guessing we're seeing a lot of the success of that with this album's opening.

Expected a bit more for Bon Iver, but that's great for Solange and I'm hearing such good things about the album.

Solange has a shot at #1 if the word of mouth grows or if Beyonce promotes it on her social media.

Hoping Solange manages to get to #1. Love the album and looks like it's picking up a bit of momentum via word of mouth.

Great move by Solange to release the music videos of "Don't Touch My Hair" and "Cranes in the Sky" this same week! Will definitely give it the boost it needs.

SOLANGE SURGES
Columbia's Solange is now in the running for the #1 position on our SPS chart this Friday with her A Seat at the Table, trending considerably better than most new releases. Monday marked the album's biggest sales day yet, an indicator of strong word of mouth for the R&B set, which is earning critical acclaim as well (and has been sitting in the #1 spot at iTunes for a while now). Messrs. Stringer, Klaiman and team are so happy that they've all decided to get their hair did. Stay tuned for updates.

It seems like 'surprise' is a logical step for Taylor - it will guarantee the 1MM streak as well. Any single is going to be an instant add and saturate radio so it doesn't need the traditional build up. Plus, Target really, really needs Taylor to help them through holiday season....

BUSY week!! hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=303232Tuesday, October 4, 2016 TOP 15: DEAD HEAT MAKES FOR A LIVELY RACEColumbia’s Solange and Jagjaguwar’s Bon Iver are in a dead heat in the race for this week’s #1 on our SPS chart. Solange has been defying the typical new release trend all week; yesterday, the fourth day of release, was her biggest so far at iTunes. If this trend continues, we may be raising the projections before week’s end. Bon Iver is expected to have strong indie numbers which should keep the race tight until the end. Bon Iver is seemingly a lock for #1 in sales. As many as 11 new releases could appear on our album chart Top 15 and the Red Hot Chili Peppers re-enter the Top 5 thanks to strong redemptions from their ticket bundle which went on sale last week. While we don’t think RHCP will catch Bon Iver in sales, we’re keeping a close eye on these redemptions. Here’s how it looks at midweek. SPS*Solange (Columbia) 57-62k *Bon Iver (Jagjaguwar) 57-62k Drake (YMCMB/Republic) 46-50k Red Hot Chili Peppers (Warner Bros.) 44-49k Suicide Squad (WMG) 36-40k Hamilton (Uptown) 27-30k Ariana Grande (Republic) 26-29k Shawn Mendes (Island) 25-28k Twenty One Pilots (Fueled by Ramen) 24-27k *Van Morrison (Caroline) 21-24k Rihanna (Westbury Road/Roc Nation) 20-23k Florida Georgia Line (BMLG) 20-23k Travis Scott (Epic) 20-23k *Bob Weir (Legacy/Columbia) 19-22k Jason Aldean (Broken Bow) 18-20k SALES*Bon Iver (Jagjaguwar) 54-59k *Solange (Columbia) 43-48k Red Hot Chili Peppers (Warner Bros.) 43-48k *Van Morrison (Caroline) 20-23k *Bob Weir (Legacy/Columbia) 19-21k Hamilton (Uptown) 16-18k Jason Aldean (Broken Bow) 15-17k *Banks (Harvest) 14-16k *John Prine (Oh Boy) 13-15k *Regina Spektor (Sire) 11-13k *Drive-By Truckers (ATO) 11-13k Beyonce (Columbia) 10-12k Florida Georgia Line (BMLG) 10-12k Suicide Squad (WMG) 10-12k *Eric Clapton (Reprise) 10-12k Adele (XL/Columbia) 9-11k Danny Brown (Warp) 9-11k *Opeth (Nuclear Blast) 9-11k *Temple of the Dog (A&M) 9-11k *DEBUTS As you can see, a lot more than 15 titles are in contention for the Top 15 spots.

But hey look at her now :) she is also has good chance with longevity with Bon iver's being front loaded.

Better get, Solange.
I'm not surprised that she is moving up. The buzz has been great for her and the topic of this album is strong right now so she will see great results from that alone. I can't wait for the physical release because I'm definitely getting it then.

hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=303292Friday, October 7, 2016 CHART STORY: THE TABLE IS SET Solange Scores #1 SPS Honors This week’s charts are split, as alternative R&B songstress Solange takes top honors on the Sales Plus Streaming (SPS) Chart and the indie alt/folk trailblazers of Bon Iver rule on the Album Sales Chart. Solange’s A Seat at the Table (Columbia) debuted at #1 at SPS with 72k, while Bon Iver’s 22, A Million (Jagjaguwar) followed at #2 there with 69k. The tables are turned on the Album Sales Chart, however, where a 57k bow puts 22, A Million at #1, and with 46k, A Seat at the Table takes #2. Two other new ones—by veteran artists—made the SPS Top 15, as Van Morrison’s Keep Me Singing (Caroline) bowed at #8 with 26k and Bob Weir’s Blue Mountain (Legacy/Columbia) bowed at #15 with 20k. Harvest’s BANKS debuted just outside at #16 with 19k for The Altar. However, the Album Sales Chart’s Top 15 saw a total of nine debuts, with Van Morrison at #4, Bob Weir at #5, Oh Boy’s John Prine’s at #6, Sire’s Regina Spektor at #9, BANKS at #11, ATO’s Drive-By Truckers at #12 and Nuclear Blast’s Opeth at #14. Getting back to SPS, Red Hot Chili Peppers’ The Getaway (Warner Bros.) soared up the chart, going #19-4 with approximately 45k (a 506% spike), thanks in large part to ticket-bundle redemptions. On a loosely related note, over at HITS, we’ve been soaring up and down the hallway in our office chairs, thanks in large part to weed. Sale pricing also sparked a lot of chart movement this week. Discounted to $6.99 at iTunes, Ariana Grande’s Dangerous Woman (Republic) went #9-7 and Sia’s This Is Acting (Monkey Puzzle/RCA) went #20-13. Also priced at $6.99 by the DSP giant, Coldplay’s A Head Full of Dreams (Parlophone) jumped #44-36 and Panic! at the Disco’s Death of a Bachelor (Crush/DCD2) jumped #39-37. blink-182’s California (BMG) re-entered the chart at #24, powered by a $7.99 iTunes sale and a 99-cent Google Play look. The Lumineers’ Cleopatra (Dualtone) also re-entered the chart. Following a talked-about Kimmel performance, a sold-out Hollywood Bowl show and the launch of second single “Cleopatra,” the album saw a 51% SPS bump and returned at #48. Streeting this week are albums from Warner Bros.’ Green Day, Blue Note’s Norah Jones, Republic’s Phantogram, Interscope’s OneRepublic and Hopeless’ Sum 41. Speaking of hopeless, does anyone know how many tequila shots it takes before this whole “Lyor as YouTube Head of Music” thing makes sense? Just wondering.

So again, the not-as-popular artist gets shafted due to streaming's genre bias. Which is fucked, to say the least.
