The type of songs he's been able to bring to radio over the last few years is really amazing. Everything about this release was just perfectly executed and timed, except the Thursday release. Though I guess it didn't need to debut at #1, that was just me wanting it to lol. It's still going to #1 anyway.

It's still probably gonna end up at #1 on streams and sales for it's first full week. A radio deal would have been nice though.

The first warm day of the year is going to be LIT. This is going to be EVERYWHERE!
When does Grammy voting close? FINESSE may push him over the top for AOTY.

In a day in age where our pop stars seem to be failing to make a real push on the charts (Katy, Taylor, Gaga), the fact that Bruno has been this consistently successful for so long is pretty astounding. Compared to his contemporary's like Bieber and Sheeran, Mars has been around a lot longer. He's been making radio hits since the start of the decade, and wrote tons of hits before and after he hit it big. I never expected the hip-hop hook guy of 2010 would be one of the biggest pop stars of all time, but here we are. Bruno Mars is definitely the king of the 2010's, he owns this decade.

I can't think of any other act right now who could turn something that sounds like it was lifted directly from late 80's Bobby Brown material into this level of success, especially right out of the gate. The fact that the mainstream public are downloading and streaming a new jack swing song in droves in 2018 is mind-blowing, especially when you consider the state of R&B at Urban radio. Cardi gets a lot of credit for this though. If the album version were released following "Versace..," I don't think we'd be looking at anything close to a #1 hit. Smart move.

Everybody Loves him.Who doesn't love Bruno? He is amazing. I have to agree - my only minor complaint are some of the lyrics like in "Perm" where he coerces a smile from a woman. Hopefully he'll turn down those kind of lyrics in the wake of #MeToo. Otherwise, I think he's immensely talented and brings freshness and a sense of being genuine to an otherwise stale pop (and urban) scene. Plus DANCING!!!!! As a Janet stan, well-executed choreography goes a long way with me.

Sigh.
To read all the love he’s receiving now all of a sudden and to go back to the album thread for when 24k Magic was released is so .........
I feel like I can put my Stan flag down for a rest!

I literally prayed for God to give me a sign that 2018 will be a good year.
After that prayer, Finesse was announced as the next single and everything that comes with it was the answer.
Look at God!

I like Bruno as an act overall, and his music, but aside from LOOH and UF, I never want to play his material again usually after the period has passed. It's not that I don't think it's good, I do, but they all burned on me in a certain way that I just never have an interest in revisiting them. And aside from IWR and WIWYM, I loved all of his prior singles when they were new. This particular track I couldn't really care less about because I'm never here for new music specifically created to sound like it's from a past era from anyone, but I loved the first 2 singles, and enjoyed VOTF and Chunky for a bit. I'm glad the project was/is a success, but I'd rather the next one come sooner rather than later (sooner being Fall 2019 realistically thinking).

Real talk, we need to take a roll call for all the people who have been team Finesse since 2016. We have been vindicated! To see it actually be a single when almost none of us expected it, and then to see it being given lead/re-release single treatment with a remix and that classic ode to ILC video, and then to see it smashing on arrival as if this song is not 14 months old, has got me feeling like

I see the point you’re trying to make, but Bieber has been around just as long as Bruno, with ed not THAT far behind. And Taylor has been super consistent and had remarkable sales for over a decade now. Even with her album underpformjng it’s sold more than Bruno’s. And even if longetivfy wasn’t it’s key, look what you made me do certainly made a big push on the charts. Yes Taylor has her miss singles, but so does Bruno, as recent as his last one.

Bruno performs better than Taylor, Justinx2, and Ed combined. Let's not only look at sales.
