What album tracks has your station played over the years?
* I seem to remember hearing "Down in a Ditch" by Joe Diffie at least once on the radio. It was apparently released as a promo single, but not officially pushed.
* I can swear I heard "Ten Pound Hammer" by Aaron Tippin on the radio at some point.
* I definitely remember hearing Mark McGuinn's "Done It Right" a few times on WKJC, but I've found no proof that it was ever intended as a single (if it was, then it was right as VFR Records closed).
* WATZ loved to play "Circus Leaving Town" off Travis Tritt's My Honky Tonk History. I wonder if someone there remembered Philip Claypool's version?
* Not really a "song", but not long after Jeff Foxworthy released Have Your Loved Ones Spayed or Neutered, WATZ played one of the tracks. I believe it was the one where he mentions what a hypochondriac his wife is ("You do not have testicular cancer. You don't even have testiculars!")
* Every time a big name artist performs at the Alpena County Fair, WATZ will break out several album tracks of theirs. I remember they played nearly all of Jake Owen's Startin' with Me album when he performed up here in '06 or '07. And when Jon Pardi performed two years ago, they played "Write You a Song" almost daily for months.
* WATZ also plays the Joe Diffie version of "My Give a Damn's Busted" now and then.
* As I mentioned in another thread, WBCT out of Grand Rapids played "Bomshel Stomp" nearly a year before it was released as a single, and I believe WATZ did likewise.
* They also played Mark Chesnutt's version of "Beer, Bait, and Ammo" interchangably with Sammy Kershaw's, to the point I was surprised that only one of the two was a single.
* Oddly, WKCQ spun Tim McGraw's version of "Tiny Dancer" a lot when it was out. That's the only time I ever remember them spinning an album cut.
* Someone at WATZ must have owned Ray Stevens' Classic album, because I remember hearing "All-American Two-Week Summer Family Vacation" at least once, and they used to play "The Bricklayer's Song" on St. Patrick's Day.
* WKJC used to open their Saturday farming show with "Too Wet to Plow" by Dusty Drake.
* Other WATZ cuts: "Walk Out Backwards" by Rick Trevino and "Pink Flamingos" by Tracy Byrd. Both still on their playlist well into the 2000s.
* WATZ also played "I Never Had a Chance" off Andy Griggs' This I Gotta See after the title track bombed, but I can't find any verification of it as a single.

I was debating whether or not to post in this thread, but here it goes: WYRK has a Saturday morning show called Wide Open Country (6 a.m. to 9 a.m.). They play a wide variety of album cuts along with classic country and even rock songs. I'm sure sabre14 can provide examples. I'm not getting up that early, though.

Before my current job, I was getting up early on a Saturday morning and Clay Moden, for the 'eight o'clock Southern rock alarm clock' played a Molly Hatchet song (can not tell you which one).

Recently in the past year I've heard "Said Nobody" by Old Dominion several times on the radio. The only other example that comes readily to mind right now is that I can recall Sugarland's "County Line" being played on the radio at some point around the time "Everyday America" was peaking/before "Stay" was released. I remember being so excited to hear it because it was my favorite song on the Enjoy the Ride album.

WPBG would play Jason Aldean's "Sweet Little Somethin'" quite a bit last year.

I don't really listen to the radio anymore, but growing up, the station that I listened to played (among others, I'm sure):
Reba McEntire - "Everything That You Want" Reba McEntire - "If I Had Only Known" Wynonna - "Just Like New" Garth Brooks - "The Red Strokes" Garth Brooks - "The Night Will Only Know" Garth Brooks - "The Night I Called The Old Man Out" Deana Carter - "Ruby Tuesday"
I'm sure that there were more, but those are the ones that I remember.

Deana Carter - "Ruby Tuesday" I think you mean "Ruby Brown" (And that was a single, it just did so poorly it failed to even chart, lol)

Stone Country is an album of country singers singing Rolling Stones songs, and Deana's version of "Ruby Tuesday" is on it.

I bought the Stone Country album at a Big Lots a long time ago, but never listened to it and ended up losing it. Then again, I've heard like one Rolling Stones song ever, so maybe I should start with the real versions before I gauge the covers.
I remember that around the time Brad Paisley had either "The World" or "She's Everything" out, some Kansas station on Mediabase's panel was spinning "I'll Take You Back" instead. Honestly I'd have preferred that as a single over either of those.

Oh wow, that's an odd coincidence indeed then. I had no idea Deana Carter had covered "Ruby Tuesday," so thanks for introducing me to that, someguy! I love her voice, so anything new from Deana is always a treat, even if it's discovering something she had recorded like 19 years ago, lol. ETA: And on a side-note, my first thought when I read "Ruby Tuesday," my mind went to the restaurant chain before the song title, lol.

Before "I Told You So" (Carrie Underwood) was announced as the 5th single off Carnival Ride, KNIX spun "The More Boys I Meet" quite a bit. Sounded really good on radio too!

That's a song that I was thankful it was never a single. I'm a huge Carrie Underwood fan but that song sucked (imo) and I'm glad with the single selection for that album especially the one-two punch of "Just A Dream" and "I Told You So".

I never heard any of my local stations play any of the CU album cuts that charted other than "Before He Cheats". I never heard any of them on CT40 either.

Just looking at the Top 5 for Gary Allan thread reminded me that I used to hear Alright Guy at least once a week for about a year.

I've said it before, seek out the original version by Todd Snider. Gary Allan watered down some of the lyrics in the second verse. I don't think I ever heard the Snider version on the radio, but I remember that it was on one of those "Country Video Monthly" VHSes I used to get as a kid.

Living in Texas it seems the only album tracks I hear are those from King George. Here's some that I hear quite regularly:
"Baby Your Baby" (I've been hearing this one a lot lately) "Blame It On Mexico" "Down Louisiana Way" "Honk If You Honky Tonk" "I Found Jesus On the Jailhouse Floor" (I hear it on Sunday's occasionally) "Maria" "Overnight Male" "Texas" "Texas Cookin'" "West Texas Town" "Where the Sidewalk Ends"

^ Country Gold with Rowdy Yates sometimes plays "Where the Sidewalk Ends" too. It really sticks out because that's the only album cut I've ever heard him play. His show is good, but it gets a bit predictable at times (i.e., no Randy Travis songs newer than "I Told You So" [even though we all know his 90s stuff was the best], the same 5-10 songs from the 90s, etc.).
