It's pretty much done I'd say. Didn't even reach the top 20 on the Billboard? I'm not complaining though as I think I'm the only one who dislikes this.

Oh, I hate this. LOL
Thank you! I feel like it's a song everyone should hate as it sounds like that, but most people like it. This was like a 1/10 for me at first though. Now it's like a 3/10.

How a lot of people feel about Britney being talent-less and annoying is how I feel about Jason. LOL

I like a lot of his music but this is kind of a mess (same with Get Ugly). And I love Britney, Make Me… was my favorite song last year and god damn flopped while songs like Toxic, Oops… I Did It Again, etc. we're amazing as well.
In fact, I wrote this over a month again when it debuted on a chart called the Weekend Countdown on Sirius XM Hits 1: Next up we have Jason Derulo with Nicki Minaj and Ty Dolla $ign with their song, Swalla. I feel pretty alone for with my opinion on this song. I'll admit, it has gotten better and it's not crap anymore. First off, it's just your average song about sex and has no meaning to it. Derulo doesn't sound bad, but not necessarily good either. I don't like his falsetto. And the random noises with the production are quite annoying. Ty Dolla $ign's voice sounds very scratchy in his verse, and I don't really like it. Nicki Minaj's verse isn't bad, but not too interesting. The chorus is also really annoying except for one part. The one part I like is in the chorus, the backing up after the "Swalla-la-la" as I think it sounds good and is catchy. I also think this'll flop as it's doing nothing on the Billboard and losing airplay on pop radio.

I haven't liked a Jason Derulo song for a long time. This song was okay at first, and is still a little catchy, but now I am starting to hate this. It's mostly trash of a song.
This song's chart performance exceeded any expectations I had when I first heard this song. #29 on Hot 100 and top 10 in the UK, that is fine for me. Don't forget that it followed a 2 years long series of flops.

And you are not the only one. He used to be good with catchy guilty pleasures but he seems to have lost his touch (which is quite risky for him because all his career relies on being a hitmaker)
I'm honestly shocked this became a hit -- most of Derulo's more hip hop influenced stuff has flopped lately and coming off a massive string of flops I thought this would be no different. But #29 is actually pretty impressive for him, though this may be his last gasp.

You just contradicted yourself. Hadn't had a hit 2 years, barely any momentum and still manages to hit top 30 on the Hot 100. If anything he has a better shot with his new single coming out Friday than he did with this.

How did I contradict myself? I'm saying him reaching #29 on the hot 100 is very impressive considering how he's coming off a long string of flops and I didn't see this being big whatsoever.

By saying "this may be his last gasp".
Just because someone has a hit doesn't mean they'll necessarily get hits afterwards. I'm just saying I think this'll probably be his last real hit from here on out.
I'd say it was either a minor hit (Peak of #29 on the Hot 100) or a flop, as it didn't peak very high or have that much chart longevity, I think it had less than 20 weeks or just about 20 weeks.
This thread had been happily dead for two months. There was no need to resurrect it. :sip2:

I love that we are always finding ways to try to get someone to listen to our flop faves. No YOP thread, RT theme, or Games section stone will be left unturned in our mission to get somebody, anybody to validate our taste in music. That is when you know the love of the music is real. Like "LISTEN TO THESE SONGS THEY'RE GREAT DAMMIT PLEASE GIVE MY FAVES 0.0000002 CENTS ON SPOTIFY FOR THE LOVE OF GOD." It's the modus operandi of Pulse so much at this point.
This wasn't huge enough in States, but outside it did well for a hit.
