Looks like we'll be in for a lot of "new", this week. Looking at the, comparable, week's Mediabase chart (Sun 12/25), and eliminating the Breakouts, I'm predicting as many as five debuts:

If that had happened then Ryan's claim in the year end show that "Closer" was #1 for 8 weeks would likely have been true according to this tabulation. A second frozen chart week effectively gave it a ninth.

This chart seems at least two weeks behind, compared to to Mediabase. "Side to Side" at #1 is right, but "Don't Wanna Know" should probably be at 2 or 3. Though DWK didn't reach #1 at MB, so maybe it would have looked weird to shove it all the way from #10 to #2 or 3 without ever reaching #1. (Update: DWK is gaining again, so maybe it ultimately will?)

Interesting how two of the droppers are "Fade" and "Capsize" (the latter of which falls right off from #25.) Aptly named, those.

Both CHR and Hot AC AT40 charts this weekend seem to be like 3 weeks behind. It wouldn't surprise me if they produced this weeks show before the holiday break (I don't recall any mention of George Michael's passing either), and next week we will possibly see some catch up on both charts.

Casey favoured working radio DJ's as guest hosts (though he may not have personally picked them.) Some, like Charlie Van Dyke, Mark Elliott, David Perry, and Ed McMann, became effectively regular guest hosts who filled in so often that their voices became familiar to AT40/CT40 listeners, but they weren't musical or multimedia celebrities like most Seacrest-era guest hosts, the majority of whom have hosted the countdown only once.

The only singers I can think of who filled in for Casey were Hall & Oates and John Ondrasic.
