so what did people expect? A decent album in line with the quality of their singles? I don't think that was such an impossible thing to achieve. I've liked all of their singles since Roses, but the album is a mess. I can see them doing maybe another single and then moving on to their EP/singles model again. This album was probably more of a promotion effort for the tour which is gonna be the real moneymaker.

I've seen this cited several times as the worst album of the year so far. It'll be interesting to see how much of a shelf life it has on the charts.

These guys are just so lame LOL. That said, I gave the full album a chance...twice. It sounded better drunk and high, which should come as no surprise. The second time, I was able to appreciate about 4-5 songs, which include Paris and the Coldplay song. The others were with Jhene Aiko and two random female singers. Oh...Don't say and It Won't Kill Ya. They can keep the rest, which is completely unmemorable and unremarkable.

Yeah so "Break Up Every Night" is the only song I like from this. That's including the two singles.

Break Up Every Night is REALLY obnoxious. The chorus is one of the dumbest I have heard in a while and makes them sound even douchier.

I'm kind of disappointed they didn't release the song with Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic, they said they would make a song right?

Wow. I've been warned that the album sucked by multiple people, but I kept my hopes up. Should've listened. It's not that the songs are bad or anything, they're just... boring. The thing I loved about all of their past stuff (even "#Selfie", "Kanye", and "Waterbed") is that they always sounded like they were having fun. Here, not so much.
"Break Up Every Night" is the only song they sound like they're having fun on. It sounds like something you'd find on one of 1D's last few albums. Drew's voice sounds a lot like Harry here, admittedly.
"Something Just Like This" is completely out of place. That's not an insult. It's leap and bounds ahead of everything else.
"Paris" itself is fine, but sounds lazier surrounded by all these copycats.
"I Won't Kill Ya" and "Wake Up Alone" are both pretty solid, but still way below the quality of their Bouquet and Collage songs.
"Last Day Alive" is a pretty good song, but still kinda dull. It works as a closing song. Honestly thought it was Drew singing the whole time though, it sounds nothing like FGL. Will probably sound great at a concert.
"The One" gets a pass only as an album opener for me. It's really boring, but is a nice little intro. I can't see myself ever wanting to hear it again on its own.
"Bloodstream", "Don't Say", "My Type", "Honest", and "Young" are complete filler. I could see "My Type" or "Young" growing on me, but I have no use for the others.
They should've just done another EP: 1. Break Up Every Night 2. Something Just Like This f/Coldplay 3. It Won't Kill Ya f/Louane 4. Paris 5. Wake Up Alone f/Jhene Aiko
"BUEN" is the obvious third single choice, but I could see them choosing "My Type" or "Young" as well.
I give it a C.

They should've kept on releasing only singles an EPs... it was obvious that critics would destroy them once they have a full album for judgement.

Excellent video breaking down how the Chainsmokers make their music.

I LOVED all their singles from Roses until Paris and the Coldplay song is up there too, just down a notch from the others. But the album is a snoozer. I wished for a full length album and now I wish they'd stuck with EPs of killer songs. I feel like the album was rushed to get it out there. They should stop promoting it asap and push a new single from a new EP (or even just a standalone single) later in the summer - as long as it's killer of course.

What are we doing about the next single boys?! Come on! Hopefully with Bieber this summer. What makes me sad is that if that's true, it will be a massive smash, but they'll probably miss out on beating Katy's 69 week record by a couple week gap in between SJLT and a Bieber song being in the Top 10.

Welp, looks like they're not the ones doing the Bieber collab. So what the hell ARE they doing?

I'm actually glad the Bieber/Chainsmokers collaboration isn't happening, that would be an overload

1 add this week for "Honest" - I guess the roulette wheel has finally stopped spinning and we have our next single.

I mean obviously their next single won't be from that album because of its bad reception. I guess they are going to release some non-album single next, probably a collaboration with an established artist as the album lacked those.

So we're done with singles, eh? Probably for the best for them to just chill for a bit and come back in '18 with a blast
