Since there is a very hotly debated question of did the Grammys get it right with Album of the Year this year, I thought we could give our opinions on if the Grammy voters got it right in the country fields over the years. We'll start with the Best Female Country Vocal Performance for 1965.

I think that Connie Smith's "Once A Day" should have been the victor here. It has been such an iconic song in country music's history and was at once the best charting female country single of all time (at the time).

I've been thinking, if this is something you guys want to do, is going back this far too far to go back?

I like the idea of polls like this, but I couldn't name a song by any of these ladies and only know who some are because of some of the Grand Ole Opry shows I went to. I think the audience of the Country forum is pretty young so most of us were born many, many years after this (nearly 30 for me) so I'd probably only know most of the songs in the late 90's and 2000's

I think that would be good! That would give me a place to start to discover some more earlier country music like I've been wanting to.

Yep, I agree with this! I literally have only heard of "Once A Day" in this poll... Lol I voted for it, because obviously it must have the biggest impact if I know about it 50 years later

Connie's was better but Skeeter and Dottie were close with these songs, love all 3. Jean's is good too. Never heard Wandas.
