Her first single under Epic (2nd if you count "Think Like a Man"), written by J. Hud and Konstantin Sherer, Vincent Stein, Jamie Hartman. Not to be confused with "I Remember Me", it's another song. Song length: 3:53

At least both Lorde and J.Hud tried with piano intro, lol.

I hate when artists do that as if they don't remember their own catalog.

Can't wait to hear it. Hope it becomes a hit in the UK - she's been doing a great job on The Voice UK and her discography has benefitted nicely from it. :)

I was assuming it was an old thread until I realized that "I Remember Me" was never single during that era either.
And "Think Like a Man"??? The song from the movie years back???

Um so this is just a Adele's rehash of "Set Fire to Rain", ugh.
After we got her third album (which is her best, imo), this where we go, ugh. No, Jennifer. No.

This does sound like an Adele song...but Adele makes the music that the R&B girls get ignored for making.
With that being said, this is probably gonna flop. I like it though. She sounds good. I like the production and the overall vibe.
I want her to revist her sound from the I Remember Me era. Her collaborators brought out the right amount of youth in the music to balance her old woman singing.

This is more Emeli Sandé and less Adele IMO.

This is more Emeli Sandé and less Adele IMO. IMO this is more drunken auntie breaking out singing at a dinner party. That said, I like this. The backing vocals of the chorus remind me of M People's "Just For You." The overall vibe reminds me of the 1997 remix of The Source & Candi Staton's "You Got The Love". I was expecting this to be based on the Marlena Shaw song "Woman Of The Ghetto" with its memorable "Remember me? I'm the one who had your babies." line.

Vocally, I hear Emeli but those keystroke/production is all Adele "Set Rain to Fire" to me.

That was kinda my point tho. There's not a difference in the music Adele and Emeli makes...other than Emeli doing it better.

Urban AC will use this, and seriously, that's the only format that's gonna play J. Hud anyway. I like it. She has a old woman voice, and people (the ex AI crowd) want her old woman voice with her singing old woman songs.
I actually want her to do a standards album, followed by a Christmas one.

She really does have the potential to have some more radio hits, but she so often gravitates towards these terrible mid-tempos that don't do a thing for anyone. That, and the way she uses her voice, and the style in which she constantly sings (exaggerating the ends of basically every note, run, etc.) really only worked for Dreamgirls. She demonstrated on her debut that she's got the ability to deliver pop-R&B vocals well, and she showed on her third album that the girl can do soul and funk damn well, too. It's just a huge mystery as to why she releases such icky songs, and all of her televised performances include her covering standards in the same style.
Girl needs to get away from Clive. I know she won't, though, but it could potentially do her a lot of good.

I don't think this is bad, but it is very dull. Sounds like something that would just be "filler" on an Adele album.
That said, Joe recently took Adele "filler" to the top of the Urban AC chart too, and I don't see Jennifer having any success outside Urban AC anyway (everything about her is "old school," and there's really no market for old school R&B divas outside of Urban AC).

This will do nothing for her but flop. just like everything else she puts out.. smh It's sad that she's flopping when I have only recently begun to love the House oriented R&B she did on her last album. It was very Alison Limerick meets Oleta Adams.

Why would she go record something this bland when she finally started showing some personality and released some of her best work with her last album?

She took a step back. Shit, should've made it a duet with Adele 😂

That single cover gives me early 90s house (like Crystal Waters "Surprise"), so I was hoping for an uptempo. Boy, did I set myself up...

I don't mind the song. She doesn't sound great but I blame the production for this.

Why would she go record something this bland when she finally started showing some personality and released some of her best work with her last album? Right. This is not even better than any of her tracks she had on any of her previous albums. Usually, her lead off are not too exciting and can grow on you, but this one takes the boat as her weakest ever and no instant replay at all. Her third album had a good balance of her being her age and old despite not having that "one" ballad that she usually have for her album as an urban AC single staple; however, overall, that album had potential (at least at urban during the time).
