I like the fact that his album FINALLY got released but to be honest, I'm not blown away. Wouldn't be funny if after this album he departs from MCA, and becomes HUGE on another label just like Tim a couple of years ago...

The first half of the album is definately much stronger. I didn't care for "Wonder" or "One Like Mine". Having said that I hear some potential radio smashes , more so than his last album. "All About You" is by far and away the smash waiting to happen. "Beach Bums" is surprisingly a good listen and most have already heard "Where The Girls Are" and "Never Had A Reason" , which both could be singles
All in all, nothing groundbreaking but as always an enjoyable listen. And kudos for "Hawaiian Girl" , written solely by Josh. Closest thing to Marty Robbins we've heard. I actually really liked the throwback feel to it.

This album is fantastic! He sounds fantastic on every song and there's a great modern edge to this record without taking away his undeniable country sound. I hear some great radio potential on here, much more so than his last album had, so hopefully he can get another hit or two off this project. I definitely think this is a stronger effort than Punching Bag was on the whole. He even managed to surprise me with "Hawaiian Girl," which I almost expected to hate because I tend to dislike beachy tunes (Kenny Chesney, Zac Brown Band ) with a passion, but Josh Turner makes it work. Still probably my least-favorite track on the record though it's still decent enough. Just thrilled to have a new album from him again. I can't believe I had to wait 5 years, lol.

I love Josh Turner as a vocalist but honestly when listening to this album I found it rather underwhelming. It sounds modern enough but it feels a little too cookie cutter to my ears.

I am only part-way through listening to the album, and I am tapping along so far. But that's not the part that confused me. I bought my copy at walmart today, and when I opened it the cd worked fine. Then when I went to read the lyrics booklet I realized that the cover was for Josh's album but the actual lyrics inside were from The Band Perry's debut album, complete with "If I Die Young" and "Postcard From Paris". Anybody else get this?

Never Had a Reason is phenomenal. Wish that was the next single. Also love Lay Low, Deep South, and Hawaiian Girl

Meh. Not a particularly good debut for him, but his last album was almost 5 years ago and "Hometown Girl" hasn't been as big as "Time Is Love," so I guess it makes sense. Glad he scored another #1 on the country album chart even though the start for this doesn't make that a very strong accomplishment; his last 4 albums were all Top 5s on the Billboard 200 so a #18 start there kinda gives that away.
Nice to see that "Hometown Girl" has started to really take off in the final stretch though and there's definitely some solid radio potential on Deep South, so I'm rooting for another hit from the project.

Oh yikes, 18,000 IS pretty awful... That's only 2,000 more than Martina sold opening week last April, and she had basically no buzz whatsoever, compared to Josh having 2 singles (one of them pretty big) Hopefully he can get more hits off of this album and spur sales a little bit!
