I started listening to the BobbyCast podcast a few weeks ago and it's fantastic. Figured given the frequency of them and the really interesting discussions, a thread to discuss them might be good. For those that don't know - the BobbyCast is a podcast by Bobby Bones where he talks to songwriters and artists about their lives, careers, music, etc. Really good discussions. Most recent one was with Ross Copperman (I haven't listened to it yet), but ones with Ryan Hurd, Shane McAnally, Natalie Hembly, Lee Thomas Miller, Maren Morris, Kelsea Ballerini, Chris Janson were all very, very good. Also, I don't listen to the ones with Lunchbox and his crew - perfer the conversations with artists/songwriters. itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/bobbycast/id1220200987?mt=2

Thank you for bringing this up. I had bookmarked the Shane interview and forgot to listen to it until now. The whole thing is full of interesting little bits. The segment about Kenny Chesney, Little Big Town and "American Kids" stood out to me as did the whole "Girl Crush" part. Mostly how Bobby inadvertently cost Shane and Natalie Hemby two singles, LBT's "Quit Breaking Up With Me" and Miranda's "Smokin' and Drinkin'" because of how the whole GC thing started taking off when he started playing it.

Those are probably my favorite discussions. Most of these songs are years in the past, so the songwriters feel comfortable talking about that process. We sit on here and post generic stuff about "I love this song it should be a single" while these songwriters living a roller coaster of songs going on hold, off hold, getting cut, not getting cut, etc. I think it was the Ryan Hurd one where they were talking about "You Gonna Fly" and how Keith was going to cut it, but then the flood hit so he didn't, and Keith had it for 3 years before he suddenly cut it. Really awesome stuff.

Just listened to the Jake Owen and woof it seemed like they veered into a whole different conversation that, honestly, I did not enjoy. Talking about luck and what makes them happy and how Jake got recorded saying something negative about Bobby once and how Bobby was over it but Jake didn't remember it.
Don't mind a little bit of personal, but I feel like they didn't really get into the music as much as other guests.
