#10 and #29 on iTunes, which would put it at #4, just ahead of Niall.

I'm very satisfied with the direction she took with this song, obviously not surprised she's capable of writing and singing such an emotional ballad, she always had it in her. In a perfect world this would be a huge success, not just because she deserves it. Sure, it's a bit sad and not too upbeat for the summer, but it's uplifting and positive, so... why not? Whatever, I don't want to be disappointed, so won't have high expectations.
I always get emotional during the whale sounds. :'(

This is incredible. And I honestly think it could be a hit.

This is a very powerful song. It doesn't matter if this is a hit or not, I'm sure it mattered to Kesha that she release this song (both in terms of just putting a song out there because she was being blocked by Dr. Luke, and the content of the song) and that's all that matters to me honestly.
This definitely has me interested for what her music would sound like from here on out. I wasn't the biggest fan of the electropop Kesha back in the early 2010s (I love "Die Young" and I like most of her singles but that's as far as it goes).

Forgive my language but what the fuck kind of sense would it make for her to release a Tik Tok/Timber kind of party jam when she just spent the past four years fighting an ugly public battle with a man she alleges forced both himself and her dumbed down party girl image on her?
This is not aimed at people who genuinely don't like the song, that's a different story. But the ones hyper-focused on whether or not it sounds like a hit, so what? You either like it, or you don't. Yeah it would be sweet, sweet justice if this did smash and yeah this is the pop forum so of course we will track and discuss the song's chart run until said run ends, but good grief some of y'all act like she should have just sat there and kept suffering in her personal hell until she managed to produce a song that was as easy radio bait as anything Luke ever gave her...which would have made the battle to be free from him and tearing his reputation down in the process wholly pointless, and even weakened the validity of her story to many people. Don't get so hung up on the immediate chart potential that you forget about the importance of overall optics and PR. Kesha is very much trying to reposition herself as a different kind of artist now; Timber Pt. II isn't gonna help with that.
We haven't been able to hear much from Kesha since Warrior, but given what bits and pieces we have heard - her BBMA performance of It Ain't Me Babe, her version of True Colors, darker rearrangements of some of her previous hits when she does get to perform - anyone expecting a blatant attempt at radio success (esp. with things still having to be released through Kemosabe and thus very likely not getting any kind of promotion) really has not been paying attention. Not saying she won't ever have fun music again; she might very well have some follow-up bops on Rainbow. But I have no idea why anyone thinks returning with her best Luke-without-Luke attempt as a lead single would be a good idea in any sense.
All of that aside, I think the song is beautifully gut-wrenching. I've known for a while that Kesha has more of a voice than she's been able to show on record, but even so didn't expect it to sound this strong. That high note at the end though...I was snatched by it, but I also recognize that it's dangerously close to off-key. It kind of feels like it was an unexpected moment that happened to be captured in the studio, and would be pretty surprised if she nails it live.
I think a chart run like Skyscraper (making a big splash its first week, then two-three months bouncing around the lower half of the chart) is the most realistic expectation and I'd be more than happy with that. Praying likely won't be able to pull off the top 10 debut that Skyscraper got because of the different chart formula, plus lack of a CC deal not boosting its airplay, plus her first-day sales and streaming being wasted on a Thursday; but in effect this will work for Kesha much the way Skyscraper did for Demi by using her life story as the launchpad for her album and garnering a lot of positive press for it.

This song is incredible -- everything that Kesha knows she's capable of, and what we know she's capable of. It's vulnerable, heart-wrenching, powerful. Love the vocals. It's her, raw. This is exactly what she should've came back with. It would've been disingenuous to just come back with a banger tbh.

wow that's amazing. if her pen game is as strong as it is in this song throughout the entire album, i'm in for an emotional year between Melodrama and Rainbow because i know damn well that Rainbow will both be confessional and empowering (...perhaps it will be an actually purposeful pop album?)

Obviously that high note before the last chorus is incredible, but my favourite part is the shouting that kicks in around 2:09. It reminds me of Malibu's second verse and chorus' shouting vocals. That kind of uncontrolled vocal just makes it. A bit like in Eye Of The Needle when Sia's voice cracks in the last chorus. This gets better with every listen. "I am proud of who I am... no more monsters, I can finally breathe again"

Honestly all I can think of when I hear that note is
I respect the ambition in her vocals at the end and her commitment to keeping things "raw," but it's jarring and continues to take me out of the moment as the song builds to a place her voice can't really reach.
Glad this is doing well, though. I've never been a fan but she's been through hell and back; I hope this era is a fat middle finger to Luke and his ilk.

I have no complaints with her vocals. She's obviously a very limited singer, but she sells the hell out of this for me.
The idea of a live performance makes me nervous though.

Kesha Rose better rise. It's high time the world got wise to the queen. The high note slayed me. So unexpected. The high note is very much on key, but there's something weird about it that makes it sound a little off to me. I wasn't expecting her to slay the vocals (as much as Kesha could) on the track like this.

This is her "Skyscraper" moment. I love that she came back with this, shows how she's ready to move on with her life.
Hope the next single is a bop. She deserves the success at this point.

Interesting comments here Find myself agreeing with several posters, but especially dbhmr --felt you were reading my mind :) Anyway. I'm a Kesha supporter. Bought True Colors (undeserved flop as I really liked it) and bought this one already. I thought of Skyscraper as well. I think she just let herself go in the studio with no restraints and vomited what she felt. Kudos for that and for shredding Ke$ha / Luke lyrically and vocally with this track. This is what she needed! Having said that, I just have to admit that I couldn't connect as much as I wanted to I felt I was getting there and joining her journey until like 2:50, albeit already starting to get strained since 2:00 but a bit refreshed by the beat and chorus that came at 2:24. Of course at 3:15 she lost me and I had to shut the door and leave the angry girl shouting alone in her bedroom I've still listened to it 10 times now trying to get used to it and appreciating it better... but emotional connection hasn't happened. It's okay though. Maybe just not my vibe. anyway. Good for her. Great luck on iTunes and anywhere else. Hope she gets a petty high debut. I look forward to Rainbow too. Just hope that she makes good use of her voice in other tracks now that she understandably let herself free for this one. Rooting for you girl!

#3 and #25, combined to be #2 on iTunes! I honestly didn't think it would go to ten, do this is incredible. I'm seeing the video shared across social media Luke crazy too. Definitely reminiscent of Skyscraper. This could also benefit from a heartfelt performance too in the vein of Piece by Piece.

I honestly almost never listen to the radio, but was sort of stuck with it today...heard the song twice in an hour and the shorter radio edit is perfection. I honestly think it'll be big. It fit in perfectly between upbeat happy songs, even in the summer. It's very commanding and I think people will really connect to it when they hear it's her.
