So 5th straight top 20 for Shawn Mendes and 3rd straight top 20 for Charlie Puth (4th top 20 overall including #1 See You Again. His duet with Meghan Trainor Marvin Gaye peaked at #21)
While they are not blockbuster level, the consistency is worth noting

kworb.net/pop/I'm not just imagining this right. Demi's latest single, Sorry Not Sorry, is the closest challenger to Despacito on iTunes sales right now.

Yes, because I never would have thought that a Demi Lovato comeback song, would be that close in terms of sales on iTunes against Despacito. I thought that something else would actually come and do harm to it. If this becomes a hit to the point it can actually challenge Despacito at #1, some of us will look pretty stupid for suggesting Wild Thoughts, or anything by Taylor Swift, Eminem or TOP to challenge it. Mind you, that is if it can hold big sales, and get some strong sense of streaming, airplay, and a video up soon will it get a sense of getting to #1.

Demi's last 3 lead singles raced to the top of iTunes; none were huge sellers in the end, or in the upper region for long.

It's going to fly to the near top of iTunes. But what it's achieved so far on iTunes and where it will debut and peak on the Hot 100 are very different things.

Watch Who Dat Boy dethrone Despacito. Ha! Yeah, very funny, but I seriously doubt it that song will impact the top 10 in anyway.

If you check out the first few posts of the iTunes thread there was a discussion there why the previous thread was closed because of the fighting/trolling on how Demi's Skyscraper topped iTunes For what it's worth Demi's fanbase has been very loyal all these years, always giving her strong opening sales

She's had, what three songs hit the top 10, I thought that maybe this could dethrone Despacito, but if that is the case, the I am so wrong then.

Looks like Despacito isn't gonna be some insane 250m AI juggernaut in the end, yet it doesn't really need it with such huge streaming. I'm impressed.

What do you mean "predictions from last year regarding Kendrick Lamar getting a #2 debuting #1 hit?" That was just another way of writing that all predictions have the same chance of fulfilling.

I am actually pretty happy that Despacito will become one of the 10+ weeks #1s this week. First Spanish #1 in 20 years feels special enough to be one of the biggest hits of the decade, at least that's how I feel about it.

Did people think it was going to be a juggernaut in airplay? It lacks a large third format like Urban, Hot AC, etc to compete with the songs that had large support from 3, 4, and even 5 major formats.

The desperation of some to see Despacito out of #1... I'm just getting used to it. I think the new #1 is unknown yet and could just be anybody Who thought Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth Paul Walker could dethrone Uptown Funk when it still had 10 weeks at #1?

This is an odd question, but does anyone know if YouTube counts views from videos which have been deleted during a tracking week? Say for example, yesterday someone uploaded the audio for Sorry Not Sorry and the video somehow managed to get 10 million views in 24 hours (ignore how realistic or not this is, I am just using Sorry Not Sorry since it is brand new). As with most songs, labels generally delete uploads of it on YouTube right after the song comes out, so assume that video with 10 million views get deleted before the tracking week has ended (tomorrow night). Would those 10 million views that had been deleted count towards the chart, or is just views which are there 'when the clock strikes midnight'?

I don't get why Despacito isn't a big HAC hit tbh It could end up being one. It's top 15 now and has a large spin gain over the past week. It's more so that it got going there later than at other formats.
