Typo, that would be nice of you to buy "Gorgeous" tonight to help boost sales for Taylor.
The thing is, we don't even know if "Paint" will be the lead single or even on the album. In my opinion, it should be and I'm really hoping she will debut it in 3 weeks at the CMAs. I'd like to hear from that person in the Upcoming Singles thread as to where they got their info. I'll just give one short lyrical tease and then I better keep quiet until we see what Carrie has planned.
Opening line:
"Chipped up, banged up, heart all cracked up, wishing I could be brand new."

Bald already. A self-improvement anthem that uses a fresh coat of paint as the central metaphor? I am your canvas, Lord.

I really want a song that Carrie is the only writer for on this album. She is not credited enough for her songwriting.

True, but Carrie likes giving credit & spotlight to songwriters because she feels that their lyrics are always worthy of being heard & given credit for.Her cowrites will always be the strongest for me in that she gives songwriters their proper due while also showing her amazing songwriting skills. She could do that, but I will always want cowrites for her no matter what era it is.

Considering her strong Christian faith,it could be a song about wanting God to fix her broken heart & “Paint” it brand new because she feels that only He could fix her chipped up broken down heart & make it brand new & restore it to an even better state than it was before.Just my own take on the song that may not have even been considered on here before.Knowing my own background in the Christian faith,it would seem the theme of the song would fit perfectly with that first line of the song & her faith & my own as well.Just my opinion.

While I agree that she often doesn't get the credit she deserves as a songwriter, she prefers to write in collaborative teams so the chances of ever seeing a solo write are likely small.

I want a first person song that punches you in the gut, if she’s bidding for international success that’s really the way to go, IMO. She hasn’t really released anything like that since Carnival Ride era with JAD And ITYS (grumbles some more about WCIS, SWISLY, WAW, and Relapse never seeing the light of day).

Everybody understands that it's purely guessing and could be completely wrong.

I for one will not be speculating about anything until I hear directly from Carrie about her new partnership with Sherwin-Williams via press release on her official website.

I personally find the speculation quite interesting. The label change and the announcement of the intend of making Carrie a global star have me very keen to hear new music. If they want an album release on Q1 it makes perfect sense to release a new song around CMA's time, and of course plans might change but hopefully they won't keep delaying a release.

Wouldn't shock me in the slightest if she got a Solo Vocal nod.

Wouldn't shock me in the slightest if she got a Solo Vocal nod. The only thing that may hinder her chance at a nomination is that the song was officially released as a single before the eligibility period last year, so the nomination committee may simply rule her out for that reason.

She should have no problem getting in for Solo. She always seems too. Song also.

Would her current or previous label be the one to campaign for Dirty Laundry?

Would her current or previous label be the one to campaign for Dirty Laundry? With the Grammys I don’t think there’s a whole lot of campaigning. I could be wrong, but if I’m not mistaken I think only a select few insiders get to vote on the genre specific categories. Carrie has an advantage because she is a well known name outside of Country music; hence why she receives Grammy nominations relatively easy. However, when it comes to winning, I think the voting pool for the Country categories is pretty small so popularity plays a much lesser role... I think that’s how it works, is there someone who knows more about this process who can delve into the details a bit more?

I think that’s how it works, is there someone who knows more about this process who can delve into the details a bit more? It's long and complicated and there are parts that I still don't really understand, but you answered their question appropriately-- campaigning at the Grammys is not anything like what we see at country awards shows. It's quite minimal in comparison. There are set rules within the Academy against most campaigning, as a matter of fact. Nominees are chosen by small, individualized committees who are deemed as experts in each genre (members are interchangeable, too). They sit in a room for days (literally) and listen to portions of each submitted item, and then determine who the final nominees are. Those get revealed, and then the Academy votes within their field. So there really is little to no room for big pushes. Long, long story short, it really doesn't matter which label submitted anything, because once it's submitted, the power really does lie almost entirely in the hands of Academy voters; not the industry elite.

Will be on GMA 11/2 with Brad. Girl, don't let him hog the talking time again. Take the mic. Debut "Paint." She could do that, but something tells me that is not how they're going to use their time on GMA.This is Brad & Carrie time, not Carrie time unless the label wants her to say something about new music coming. You may be joking, but in my own honest opinion,I just don't see Carrie "taking the mic" from Brad. Its not her and its not how she works. We don't even know ourselves if Paint is the lead single from the album or if it's even going to be on the album. What we have to go on is merely speculation at this point unless Carrie herself says something about debuting a new single at the CMAs.Unless she starts dropping some hints, this is just pure speculation on our parts. And when has Brad ever hogged the talking time with these things?Maybe I missed something about that along the way but they share equal talking time because this is their gig that they're hosting. We all need to prepare ourselves if "Paint" isn't the lead single or on the album. If it is, that's great!!If its not, we will have to live with the disappointment.Just giving my two cents. It may not be a popular opinion, but I personally feel that I needed to get that statement out there.I just hope that I didn't make anyone angry over what I put in this post.Just my own opinion and speculation at this point in time.

Ok, well this has been a stimulating exchange...
I barely come in here, but I try to follow Carrie as I really enjoy her music. I’m looking forward to this transition and new era. Speculation included.
