Sold just under 200k on Friday. Billboard is predicting 500k and a jump to #1 on Hot 100 after an airplay-based debut. Taylor Swift's 'Look' Heads for Half-Million Sales, Biggest Week Since Adele's 'Hello' "Look" has sold more downloads in a single day than any song has sold in a week in the past six months.
After only one day on sale, Taylor Swift's "Look What You Made Me Do" is off to a sizzling start -- and will likely sell a half-million downloads in its first week, according to industry forecasters.
On Friday (Aug. 25), the day of the track's commercial release, the song sold a little less than 200,000 downloads in the U.S., according to initial sales reports to Nielsen Music. To put that figure in perspective, no song has sold that many copies in a single week in six months -- since Ed Sheeran's "Shape of You" moved 200,000 downloads in the week ending Feb. 16 (in the wake of the song's performance on the Feb. 12 Grammy Awards).
"Look" should easily debut at No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart dated Sept. 16 (reflecting the tracking week ending Aug. 31), garnering the diva her 12th leader on the list. Industry prognosticators suggest the tune could sell a half-million downloads in its first week. If it does sell that many copies, it would earn "Look" the biggest sales week for any song since Adele's "Hello" sold 653,000 downloads in its second week (ending Nov. 5, 2015), following its 1.11 million debut.
"Look" is also anticipated to hit the upper reaches of the Sept. 16-dated Billboard Hot 100 chart, which blends airplay, sales and streaming data, after a likely debut on the Sept. 9 list (from just airplay).
"Look" is the first single from Swift's upcoming new studio album, Reputation, due out Nov. 10. Swift's last album, 1989, was led by the single "Shake It Off," which bowed with 544,000 downloads sold in its first frame (week ending Aug. 24, 2014).

Some games forums threads have been very messy too like that one Survivor thread and the top 10s of 2017 thread too. And so was the 2000s thread, you know, the one you hosted. I personally dont think that one was that messy.

One chick assumes someone likes Kanye because her twitter profile shows a black girl, others randomly bring in beyonce into a conversation regarding Taylor. Like WTF. Just because taylor supports Donald f**king trump and his boxed shaped body doesnt mean we get to act like his supporters. Have some class and manners. Just for clarification, if you are referring to me, the twitter profile pic had absolutely nothing to do with what I said. I didn't even notice the poster's race/ethnicity, gender or anything, and I did not assume that they definitely liked Kanye, I just said that it could have very likely been a possibility. And upon what are you basing your claim that Taylor is a Trump supporter? She hasn't stated any political preferences, so WE DON'T KNOW. As I mentioned in my post, Kanye was the one who was shown embracing and supporting Trump in the lobby of the Trump Tower (though even that I conceded might not have been completely genuine).

And upon what are you basing your claim that Taylor is a Trump supporter? She hasn't stated any political preferences, so WE DON'T KNOW. - she sells feminism for profit but stayed silent during the campaign - refused to comment when asked how she feels about her neo-nazi following - attempted to silence a black female peer (Nicki) when she spoke on social injustice (but to be fair apologized) - promotion of her new single on Breitbart I think we know.

I see Taylor as more of someone who supported Trump at first but no longer does. She strikes me as a conservative leaning moderate, but in Hollywood, that might as well be alt-right.
First and foremost, though, she's absolutely a savvy businesswoman and will do absolutely everything to keep her reputation up. That's kind of what this era is all about. So, she's never going to say anything political one way or the other because she treats her career as a business and she's the CEO.

Taylor was dragged hard for defending herself against Nicki's petty tweets while Nicki is the one with the Hitler-glorifying video on YouTube. She should have never apologized to that tactless and opportunistic rodent because she said nothing wrong. Taylor has the right to not speak out about politics unless she wants to because she's under no obligation to do so. (Politicians shouldn't focus their campaigns on celebrities so much anyway.) She used social media to support women's march and people were still angry because she didn't march herself. She donated $250k to Kesha and people still weren't happy. She's criticized both when she uses her voice and when she doesn't. It's a lose-lose situation every time but the "backlash" has done nothing to slow her down (just look at the disgusting things people are currently writing about her.)

As someone who has followed her entire career (I actually downloaded her debut album a little after midnight the night it was released because I had heard, "Mary's Song" and downloaded the album kind of on a whim) I wish she had never gotten this famous. The amount of nastiness said by people who don't like her and people who do like her trying to "defend" her is sickening.
If anyone knows how I can remove myself from this thread (so it doesn't show "new" in my "Participated" area) can you please send me a PM? Thanks.

If anything, I think Swift staying silent on politics is more of an indication that she leans liberal. She has a huge conservative fanbase from her country days and does not want to go in the way of the Dixie Chicks.

Would there be a backlash against country artists who spoke out against Trump that aren't Toby Keith?

If I drew my own conclusions based on my own perception of how I saw it then I'm sorry. I never want to accuse someone of racism because that's deep. I still think u were reaching at that Kanye assumption but I didn't need to take it all the way there.

I heard it once.
I prefer cuts off of 1989 but I honestly hope this is the biggest hit of her career just so everyone that hates it so much can siddown and shut up.

I can't at people on Twitter saying that she's flopping. They are really trying it.

I can see turning out like Born This Way. Absolutely huge opening because of the massive fanbase/hype, but the reception to the song is mixed and the public has been turning on her, so the project flails pretty quickly.

I'm not a Nicki Minaj fan in the least but dude Nicki was dragged for her s**t equally and those two incidents have nothing to do with each other. You would never call these mediocre white women rodents who practice culture appropriation and casual racism so don't come at Nicki like that. Also if you donate money to Kesha did we need her subsequent press release to announce said donation? Talk about opportunistic and tactless. First Beyonce now Nicki , whose the next black woman you want to drag through the mud to defend Taylor next?

I hear this song being blasted from the building next door. So it begins. Despacito could never (or has never, as far as I've heard. But Wild Thoughts was just blaring about 15 minutes ago so)

I think they would be THRILLED if this was a Born This Way sized hit-instant #1, weeks upon weeks at #1, sold millions upon millions worldwide (almost as much as Just Dance) huge, huge album opening, and it is still one of her most recognizable hits years later. I also think Taylor is smart enough to have a safer second single though than Judas so yeah, the entire project will definitely be more successful (Unless Taylor is really having her artistic moment and releases something unplayable as a second single).

Despacito hit it big in arguably the worst summer for radio including staple artist bombs, and oh yeah, a state of pop where they don't even know where the format are going. Song will be the weakest recurrent for a number one since OMI or Lou Bega 2. Laughing so hard that BeyoncΓ© fans are trying to say TS copied her. Uh, dummies, she is trolling her, but hey, when you are as relevant as Anna Nalick, you'll pick and choose your battles. No joke heard BeyoncΓ© is collaborating with Jason Mraz to figure out a way to at least make a blip back in the scene. Sad, really.

This is really puzzling because so many people are saying that this sounds like a flop and is the worst song of her career, yet it's breaking so many records lmao. Perhaps most people purchased the song before even listening to it? Anyway, I feel like Taylor's decision to release the song is going to bite her in the ass eventually. I've never seen a comeback single have more negative reception than this has had so far (even more so than Perfect Illusion), so we'll just have to wait and see if the hype is going to be short-lived or not...

Me :kii: But this still has the #2 song down to 0.1715 on iTunes and is increasing in views a lot on YouTube, so although it may seem a lot of people may not like it, they must be a vocal minority because.. it is still doing well? I agree with your point, it is a little confusing, because Focus and Perfect Illusion were hated and didn't last long (as expected). However, this is still nearly as powerful as it was when it was first released
