not sure if anyone had this idea but would anyone be interested in doing a Country Christmas Rankdown? Would open the rankdown in November and present results in mid-Dec right before Christmas. Is that something people would want to see? Yeeeees! That will be an awesome rankdown :) I already know my #1 - now i keep my fingers crossed that the song makes the cut.

bboat11, can you add an Alan Jackson rankdown to the queue please? It'll definitely come after the New Year (probably spring of 2018). I've come to realize I like more songs from him than I thought despite radio rubbing "Chattahoochee" and "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere" in some of our faces (I may be missing a few, but I can actually handle them).

I'm up for hosting a Gary Allan rankdown during January or in the spring of 2018. :)

The former might make it by the bare skin of it's teeth, but I'm more skeptical about the latter. :(

would I be good to open up submissions for the 1998 Country Rankdown soon? Due to my schedule in Nov and Dec the only rankdown I will be doing during that timeframe is going to be the Country Christmas one. I'd like to do 1998 Country to be revealed mid-Oct and opening submissions now would be ideal to give everyone time to listen to the songs however I also don't know other plans for the year-end rankdowns so if anyone else is planning on opening theirs I will wait until January

We've got the 2004 one closing in about a week, and the CMA Songs one closing on November 1, so there's a perfect window in there to have a bigger one due in October :) Plus with how we've been doing the year-end lists it makes sense to do a '90s one next anyway.

I want to do a Maren Morris "Hero (Deluxe Edition)" rankdown! Also I would love to take on the role of host for the series of Carrie Underwood album rankdowns that is inevitable :)
Other incredible albums that someone else should do:
Road Less Traveled Start Here Lady Antebellum Crazy Ex-Girlfriend WildHorse Montevallo Twice the Speed of Life

I wonder if the country forum could have something like the album rankdown series that the alt/rock forum has. From my understanding (I haven't participated in any of them so this may not be accurate), people would vote on what albums to rank and the most popular one gets a rankdown (then basically repeat the process). Hosts could alternate depending on what the album is. Just some food for thought :) Ooh zaclord 🌈 I want Montevallo!!

Because that is a really cool idea! For those who haven't seen it, he provides a link to a Google form where you go in and type in your songs in the order that you would rank them, and then there is a space for you to suggest a couple of albums to do next. Then he can see everyone's submissions through that form, so they don't even have to send him a PM. Then he just tallies the votes for the next album and does a rankdown for the one that gets the most votes. I may not have all the details right, but that is essentially what happens

I'd be happy to lead that process or help someone else who is interested but doesn't know how to use Google Forms. That would actually be WAY easier to compile data than via PMs on here. We should do that for all rankdowns lol

I do agree with you about Google Forms being simple to use. The only time I've used it I remember being like "Wow, this is actually pretty simple!" although at this point I probably need a refresher to use it again.

I'll do Road Less Traveled at some point as I love that album! Since she only has two albums, I was actually thinking we should just do a Lauren Alaina RD consisting of her 26 total recorded songs (12 on debut + 12 on RLT + "History" + "Barefoot & Buckwild"). That's what we did for Kacey Musgraves. Also, can I be the first dissenter for the Google forms submission idea? I like using the PMs because then I have a record of my list in tact after I've submitted it. We don't get that with the other option.

Since The Weight of These Wings is such a big album, I actually was planning to do a RD for that one as well fwiw. I've held off on it because of the Miranda singles RD, since I didn't want it to overlap with that at all.

We don't get that with the other option. Valid point. The manual input from the PM (via copy and paste) isn't that tedious anyway. Forms would just automatically throw all data in a Sheet which would be great, but you'd still have to manually put in all the calculations. Depending on how we decide to do the album rankdowns though, we could use Forms to gather opinions on that. It would be cool to have them in the country forum like the Alt board gets to do.

Honestly, I make my list on a Word document as I am listening to the songs, and then I save the document to my computer once I send my list in, so I have never even thought of using my PMs to look back on the list that I submitted... I just have a Pulse Rankdowns folder on my computer that I refer back to as often as I want. I just assumed other people did something similar I am still going to try the Google thing for the first Martina album, just to see if I like it or not. It's very possible I could go back to plain old PMs for future ones though
