I'm surprised considering Whatever It Takes looked like it was running away with the #1.
Not only that but +100 spins? Jesus!

I don't like this but I don't get the hate (other than it's not worthy of #1 or Top10 for that matter)
I can take it or leave it

It's honestly funny to me how much you all care so much about how this charts. I mean sure the song sucks, but the extreme hatred for this is quite amusing.

I mean I get that songs that each of us don't like may end up being successful on the charts. It happens all of the time. Hell, I don't like most of what's on either the Alternative or Active chart these days, but I don't let it ruin my day. I kind of stopped caring about chart success about 7-8 years ago when music that I didn't care about started dominating. Before, I used to depend on radio for new music and such when it wasn't as easy to find them. Now, you have things like Spotify, Pandora, etc to find similar artists to what you really enjoy. It doesn't mean much to me these days if the artists that I really like have worldwide success or not.

but you have to admit the charts are entertaining? maybe even comical sometimes. Music charts have always fascinated me. Something about having a bunch of songs in line fighting for the positions really appeals to me. It gives each song a different personality. I guess It's different for everybody, but I've been a music chart baby since Casey Kasem days. I Also, wouldn't say I get the bulk of my music from the charts, but I do find some gems now and then. even in the adds or mediabase CNM sections.

It's fun to root for songs and shit on others though, almost like following your favorite sports team. Isn't this entire forum centered around discussing charting music anyways? I agree we shouldn't let it ruin our day, but I don't think that's really what's happening, we're just picking on a song that many people around here dislike and rooting for it to disappear from the charts. And for what it's worth, this song reaching the top of alt sets a bad predicent (imo), so while it's not going to singlehandedly put me in a bad mood, I am a bit annoyed at what my favorite chart has become.

I still care about the alt chart quite a bit as I like to root on the songs I like but I'm with you on finding the rage people have when songs they dont like do well to be hilarious.

I used to think so, but honestly, more than half of what's on the Alternative and Active chart now, I would be fine never hearing again. Alternative these days is too slow and boring for my tastes and there's so much lack of variety compared to in the past. Active overall is a lot watered down harder rock that hasn't changed much in sound in many years. I'd say 80-90% of what I listen to never makes it to radio, so my interest in the charts just isn't there as much anymore.

It's certainly not ruining my day, I only think about this song if I'm on this forum and I don't even listen to radio anymore cause what's the point if I have Spotify and this forum to keep me up to date on the new jams

In regards to Sober Up, if your song sounds like something you'd here at a f***ing campfire, you're doing something wrong. Also, it's now 38 on Billboard's Adult Alternative chart.

While this is dying a horrible death on alternative, this is still chugging along in other areas. Weird.
