Wiz had his biggest hit years after black and yellow Yeah but that was largely a fluke due to him being featured on a heavily promoted tribute to Paul Walker where he didn't even sing the hook. Now I'm not saying he did nothing on the song, and I'm sure his presence certainly didn't HURT how the song did, but the fact that he hadn't scored a hit multiple years before SYA and hasn't scored a hit since then seems to point to it being an anomaly. True, except you realize that See You Again is his song right? He wasn't "featured on it". He didn't write it. You can argue that Puth had a bigger hand in making it a hit. It's still a Wiz Khalifa hit. Wiz featuring Charlie. Not the other way around.

Very bold prediction: G-Eazy's "Beautiful And The Damned" will prove to be a stronger era than Eminem's "Revival".
Although I do believe that Eminem's album will still have a much bigger debut.
Post Malone's album could have a bigger debut than Eminem's though.

Some predictions for 2018:
Pop girls won't make a comeback... again :( Justin Timberlake's era will be a great one. I believe Ed Sheeran will be overplayed.

ADELE: Nothing to report here, see you in a few more years.
JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE: First single will do great, then he'll get a couple minor hits. Album will sell decently (maybe 1m total in the end), but nothing groundbreaking.
ED SHEERAN: He'll probably collect one or both of the Grammy awards he's nominated for. Perfect will do great into the new year but nothing else from the album becomes a hit. He quietly fades until his next era. As the hottest thing on Pop this year he'll pop up on several features like the announced N.E.R.D. one, with diminishing returns.
TAYLOR SWIFT: She gets a couple more hits from the album, but it fails to escape "underperformer" status.
CARDI B: Nothing as massive as Bodak Yellow but she gets a few more hits and builds a legitimate career and debuts a full album.
LORDE: Nothing to see here, see you in a few years (nothing from the album becomes a hit, sadly, and she isn't likely to get AOTY, again, sadly).
FIFTH HARMONY: The end is near...
MILEY CYRUS: Boring year, nothing to see here.
BRITNEY: Nada, sadly.
KATY PERRY: Witness era is over. She might do something new before 2019, but otherwise she'll keep flopping. AI will do nothing for Witness.
CAMILA CABELLO: Great year most likely. Next single is also a smash and she mantains a relatively high profile for the entire year with a few collabs.
DEMI LOVATO: Gets a couple more hits from the album and it's ultimately her biggest album yet.
BRUNO MARS: Probably the big winner of the Grammy Awards. No more hit singles from 24k Magic, but he might do a summer collab and smash anyways.
Have no idea about RIHANNA (is she releasing? will she do a messy release a la ANTI?), ARIANA GRANDE (with the right material she could get her first #1 but another Focus might kill her era early), LADY GAGA (not sure about that movie, and she's probably not going to do new music aside from that), THE WEEKND (will he promote? Starboy was one of the worst marketing campaigns I've seen) or SELENA GOMEZ (she hasn't been on her A-Game lately).

This will start a 2nd chart run, either in 2018 or 2019, due to youtube numbers that have been drastically increasing for years now. youtu.be/k85mRPqvMbEIn other words, we’re all gonna die.

Few Predictions:
Adele, Beyonce, and Lorde disappear for a bit. Beyonce might appear on a few random collabs throughout the year.
Alessia Cara: Releases an album and hit single. Both perform moderately well and is more successful than her debut era. May or may not get her first #1 single.
Ariana Grande: Major comeback. Changes her sound with critical success, gets her first #1.
Bruno Mars: Is the big winner at the Grammys. Disappears til late 2018 or early 2019.
Calvin Harris: Releases Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 2 to the same success as the prior. If he wants a hit he’ll do another collab with Rihanna.
Camilla Cabello: Releases her album and gets another top ten single. Rides the wave of success from her debut and releases a followup early 2019.
Cardi B: Releases an album and followup single to Bodak Yellow. Doesn’t meet the same success as BY, but is a moderatly well recieved top 10 hit.
The Chainsmokers: Who?
Childish Gambino: Does well at the Grammys. Disappears from music and probably releases his last album in 2019-2020.
DJ Khalid: Doesn’t get another hit from his album, starts releasing new music late 2018-early 2019.
Drake: Comes back into relevance but doesn’t top the success of Views. He has a release similar to More Life.
Dua Lipa: Releases another single and crosses over to the US. Gets moderate chart success in a way similar to Alessia Cara.
Ed Sheeran: Starts the year strong with Perfect but quickly fades away just like the Chainsmokers did in 2016-2017. He’ll release his next album, presumably/hopefully called “Subtract” in like 2019.
Eminem: Revival underperforms.
Fourth Harmony: Becomes “No Harmony”
Future: Releases a new album and single to some chart success. It doesn’t compare to Mask Off though.
Halsey: Bad at Love does great in terms of her prior singles. She’ll release another single that has a similar chart peak to “Now or Never” and may even outpeak it, but won’t hit the top 10. She’ll release a new album in mid to late 2018.
Justin Bieber: Starts his new era in summer or fall of 2018. Gets a 8+ week long #1 single. The rest of the singles do well but underperform.
Justin Timberlake: He’ll have a very well recieved single throughout the superbowl period and he’ll get another #1 single and album. The lead single he’ll perform at the superbowl will go #1 and stay in the top 10 for a bit. The era will immediately die though and his following singles will underperform.
Kanye West: May or may not release an album. It’ll do similar or worse than The Life of deleted.
Katy Perry: Will try to squeak out one last single and videk from Witness and will disappear.
Kendrick Lamar: Will do great at the Grammy’s. However the DAMN. era is basically over and he’ll release a new album to similar success in 2019.
Khalid: He’ll do great at the Grammy’s too and will release an album in late 2018.
Lady Gaga: Will recieve critical praise for A Star Is Born. She’ll release an album in late 2018 and it’ll do better than Joanne and will have a completely different sound. She’ll get a top 10 single.
Lil Uzi Vert: Will continue to release singles and will get another top 10 either from his album or a random collab.
Nicki Minaj: Will release an album and it’ll either be very very successful or underperform massively. She’ll either get a standalone top 5 hit or flop for filth.
P!nk: She’ll continue to release singles to moderate success but they won’t make deep chart dents.
Rihanna: If she releases R9 in 2018 (she better), it’ll be in either Q1 or Q2. It’ll be one of her biggest eras yet and she’ll get a smash lead single with the similar chart success of We Found Love and Work. She’ll get three or four more top 10-20 hits too. Her streaming domincance will pull through and she’ll rule the year. If she doesn’t remember that she’s a singer then she’ll continue to do random photoshoots and will release in 2019 to the same success as described above.
Shawn Mendes: He’ll drop this acoustic good boy image and will release a new album with a more hip-hop or modern influence. It’ll be his biggest era yet. The lead may or may not outpeak Stitches.
Sia: She will continue to release random singles from movie soundtracks that don’t have any chart impacts. HOPEFULLY she releases a new album late 2018. If she does she’s looking for a top 10 hit that’ll probably peak between #8-#3. The era itself will do better than This Is Acting but she won’t get a #1 single.
SZA: She’ll continue to do well with Ctrl but won’t get any more hits. She’ll collaborate with someone big and get another top 10 hit.
Taylor Swift: If she promotes End Game it can probably become a top 10 hit. It won’t go #1 though and it’ll underperform like the rest of the era. She’ll try to go on tour but that’ll underperform as well. She’ll ironically cut the album short and disappear like Katy Perry.
Troye Sivan: He’ll release a new album. The album itself won’t have the same impact as Blue Neighborhood, but he’ll finally get a top 10 hit.
The Weeknd: The Weeknd will come alive in the fall time 2018. He’ll either remember how to promote and see an era similar to BBTM and will get 2 #1 singles, or he’ll still forget and will only get the lead single to become a moderate hit. If he promotes awfully then the lead single may or may not go #1. He’ll continue to make awful single choices which ruin the longevity of the songs he’s choosing (Like abandoning Part Monster for I Feel It Coming. Then choosing Reminder as te next single). He’ll be in a position similar to Nicki Minaj where it’s make it, or break it.

Can we get some general music trend predictions instead of just artist-specific? With unpaid streaming services (such as YouTube) taking a hit in relevance, and paid streaming services (such as Apple Music) gaining relevance, we're going to see even more Hip-Hop domination on the charts.

My predictions : -Nick Jonas will have his first number 1 album on billboard 200, and the lead will be a smash bigger than Jealous. Also the album will be critically acclaimed. Calling out the academy attention -Katy Perry will re-release Witness for a platinum at least, she will get back her black hair and the lead will be a smash solo single. -Jessie J will unfortunately flop. -Justin Bieber will release next album and again have 3 hits at least. -Charli Xcx will unfortunately flop. -Jess Glynne will come back to another smash album in UK, and will conquer a platinum solo single in us. -Ellie Goulding will have another top 10 in us, also album will do OK.

^the Nick Jonas prediction is quite bold.
I think that JT’s album will be the best selling of the year.
EDIT: Lol I guess this should be in the 2018 predictions thread...

Artist predictions:
Alessia Cara will release a new lead single in late summer 2018 that will err in a slightly more mainstream leaning sound. It will go top 10 on the hot 100 but CHR will eat it up, sending it straight to #1. She will drop her album in the fall, and the followup single will also go #1 on CHR but miss the top 10 of the hot 100 entirely.
Ariana Grande will release her lead single off a new album sometime during spring, which will be a slightly more urban leaning number featuring a rapper, but one that's still pop enough to do well on CHR. It'll debut in the top 10 of the hot 100, and peak in the top 3.
Bruno Mars will release his Finesse remix with Cardi B which will debut in the top 20 of the hot 100 and eventually climb to the top 10, though it's run will be fairly front loaded. He will then be fairly quiet until he releases a big late summer single, which will sound like a faster, more uptempo and trap-influenced version of That's What I Like. It will debut in the top 10 of the hot 100 and will eventually peak at #2. Could also see him releasing something totally left field though, with no in between.
The Chainsmokers will disappear down a giant black hole -- they may release one or two standalone singles, but they won't get very big pushes and won't be noticed by much of the public.
After being silent for most of 2017, Drake will drop the lead single for his new album in spring 2018. It will be in the vein of Passionfruit or One Dance but a bit darker sounding, and will peak in the top 5 of the hot 100. When his album drops in summer 2018 multiple tracks will chart on the hot 100, but it will be a smaller album bomb then Views or More Life and he won't score any more hits from the album, besides maybe one smaller urban leaning hit because it features Offset, Travis Scott or Quavo.
Dua Lipa's New Rules will barely miss the top 10 on the hot 100, however it will peak at #4 on CHR and make her a more established name in the pop world. IDGAF will be released as the next single in the first half of 2018 and won't do much, however she will release a new single during the summer which will become a modest hit, going top 20 on the hot 100 and top 10 on CHR. She will then release a new album in late 2018/early 2019.
Ed Sheeran's Perfect will continue to smash, and will have great longevity on the hot 100, though it won't become as massive of a hit as Shape of You. Still, it'll finish in the top 5 of the 2018 Hot 100 YE. He will release a fourth single in spring 2018, another slower track in the vein of Perfect, then end the era and be quiet for the rest of the year.
Future will have a surprisingly weak year, releasing a couple standalone singles to not much fanfare. He may release an album towards the end of the year and/or score one smallish (top 40 on the hot 100) hit, but that'll be it.
Imagine Dragons will release Whatever It Takes to HAC/CHR post-freeze which will do fairly well but not as well as their last two singles, going "only" top 5 on HAC and top 10 on CHR and H100. They will then release a fourth single (probably Walking the Wire), which will go top 50 on the hot 100, top 30 on CHR, top 20 on HAC, and top 10 on alt.
After years of guest spots, Lil Yachty will score a hit of his own, which will go top 20 on the hot 100 and serve as the lead single from his third album. However his followup will only barely scrape the top 50 and he won't score another solo hit again.
Kesha will release Woman post freeze and it won't do much, barely cracking the top 30 at CHR. She will perform at the Grammies, however she will miss a great opportunity to promote her new single and perform Praying instead, which she will receive several awards for.
Meghan Trainor will release a new single in the spring/summer which will debut in the top 40 of the hot 100, but drop pretty quickly as no one besides maybe HAC wants to touch it. The sound will be a bit more in line with her debut, but will incoorperate electronic and trap elements (I want to barf just thinking of this). After it bombs, she will call it a buzz single and release a second single, which will sound like a cross between Dear Future Husband and Like I'm Gonna Lose You, and announce her album, which will be released in the early late summer. It will have slightly more longevity and do better then the lead on HAC, but will still bomb, as will her album when it releases. Think it's safe to say her career is probably done.
Offset will have a great year, both as a part of Migos and solo. Culture lll will drop sometime in the spring, dropping a pretty big album bomb on the hot 100 and having 1 more successful single, though not nearly as big as Motorsport. Meanwhile, Ric Flair Drip will be a top 30 hit, and Offset will use this as the launching pad for his solo career. He will release an album, possibly a collaborative album with someone else (but not any members of Migos) during summer/fall 2017, which will overshadow Migos' single at the time, and become a top 10 hit with a chart run similar to Mask Off.
Pink's Beautiful Trauma will eventually re-enter the hot 100, but will stall in the 60s and 70s. After that they will release Revenge, which will bomb hard, and WAU will end up being the last time Pink gets a substantial pop hit. Sorry Pink, you had a good run.
After Rockstar is done, Post Malone will give I Fall Apart an official single push, which will peak in the top 10 of the hot 100 and the top 15 of CHR. His new album, which was scheduled to be released in late 2017, will be pushed back multiple times ala Drake's Views, but will finally be released in summer/fall 2018. He will release two more singles in 2018, both which will be decent size hits, and will be one of the biggest artists of the year.
Rihanna will continue where Anti left off and go in an even more urban leaning direction, releasing a new album in the fall that contains several tracks with her rapping. The lead single will be released during the late summer and will go #1, though it won't have quite the same longevity as Work.
Despite Too Good at Goodbyes doing very well, Sam Smith will struggle to score another hit from his album, with the followup single being a sleepy ballad that underperforms, only barely cracking the top 40 of the hot 100. He will then release a third single which does nothing, and be quiet for the rest of the year.
Travis Scott will drop a lead single in spring/summer 2018 which will be his first top 10 hit on the hot 100. His album will make a huge impact when it gets released, and he will score a decent size followup single for the first time.
Zayn Malik will channel his inner Justin Bieber circa 2013, though maybe not quite to that extent. Still, he will be arrested at least one time, likely for drug charges, and will move towards a more "edgy" Chris Brown-esque sound, though none of these songs will do much. He will release a couple singles, but still no second album.
Music trend predictions:
2018 will be a slightly more friendly year for female pop stars then 2017, but not by that much. However more female stars like Ariana Grande, Cardi B, and possibly Rihanna will get hits because their music fits the landscape of 2018 better.
The urban trend will start affecting other genres, with many poppier artists adding more trap/urban influences to their music. Meanwhile artists making pop friendly trap music ala Post Malone will be able to score pretty big hits by hopping on this trend.
The #1 hit of the year will be a trend hopping pop-trap song by someone that we may have heard of but hasn't scored a big hit yet. No idea who that will be.
Other music predictions:
A semi-high profile rapper will die of an overdose in 2018, causing a brief surge in his popularity. No one on the level of Drake or Post Malone, but someone a bit bigger then Lil Peep (though with maybe a bit less of a following then him) -- think someone like A Boogie wit Da Hoodie or Meek Mill. I'll guess Playboi Carti
A big pop star with a previously untarnished record will face sexual absurd allegations, which will damage their career at least for the near future. They may be closing up an era or planning to release new music soon, but after the allegations they will lie low for the rest of the year.
Alt to pop crossovers in 2018: No Roots (which will have a similar run but do slightly better then Wish I Knew You across HAC/CHR/H100), Walk on Water (which will do okay on HAC/CHR and bubble under the hot 100), Sit Next To Me (which will peak in the 50s on the hot 100 despite mediocre radio support), and One Foot (which will peak in the 50s on the hot 100 despite mediocre sales). Sober Up also be sent but bomb, despite the fact that AJR should be charting on CHR instead of alt in the first place. However we will have at least one substantial size crossover hit in the late summer/early fall, which will be a song not released yet by an artist we haven't heard of.
In the grand tradition of charity singles, there will be a song about female empowerment released that features a massive amount of female pop stars, many who faced sexual abuse themselves. It will get a lot of media attention and be a sales beast, debuting in the top 20 of the hot 100, but will only stay on for a few weeks.
This is fun! I may have a few more predictions later but I've already spent too much time on this.

I might as well make my predictions since it’s now 2018
Ed Sheeran - Perfect will have longevity into 2018 and he will perform it at the Grammys. He’ll release one more single that will do moderately well. He’ll finish the rest of his tour but stay pretty quiet post-Grammys.
Taylor Swift - End Game will peak somewhere in the Top 10. She’ll release two more singles from reputation. One will underperform and the other one will flop. She’ll spend the rest of the year touring before going back into the studio.
Justin Timberlake - His lead single will be huge and go #1. His Super Bowl performance will set him up for a huge album release quickly followed by a sold out stadium tour. If the material is good, he’ll have multiple hits throughout the year. 2018 is gonna be a big year for JT.
Bruno Mars - His fourth single will go Top 20. He’ll perform at the Grammys and possibly take home AOTY. Afterwards, he will be pretty quiet the rest of the year except for maybe one collaboration in the summer.
Katy Perry - She’ll release one more single from Witness that will be promoted on Idol. She will continue her tour and work on a new album that will be more radio friendly and release a lead single in Q4.
Lady Gaga - She will remain quiet throughout 2018. She will release a pop collaboration with an EDM artist which will do well. She will release a Christmas album Q4 to get her name back out there before she starts her Vegas residency in December.
Rihanna - She will release R9. It will have the edgy production of ANTI but pop friendly hooks of Loud. Her lead single will go #1 and she will, once again, have another successful era.
Ariana Grande - Her lead single will earn her the first Hot 100 #1 of her career. The album will do very well and will have a very urban and dance sound to it.
Justin Bieber - He will release a lead single late summer which will go #1, followed by an album that will perform similarly to Purpose.
P!nk - Beautiful Trauma will end up underperforming and she will release two more singles which will underperform on pop but do well on AC. She’ll become a legacy act who will fail to get more pop hits but still have successful albums and tours.
Kesha - Woman will go Top 20 followed by a third single that will flop. She will win her first Grammy and probably perform Praying which will earn her huge critical praise. She will go back in the studio and release a new album Q4 that will perform similar to Rainbow.
Shawn Mendes - He’ll release a new album this summer that will sonically be a mix of Niall, Liam, and Zayn’s solo stuff. It will be a more adult sounding album and he will end up being successful and spawn 2-3 Top 10 singles.
Alessia Cara - She’ll release her sophomore album which will do very well. She will end up with multiple Top 10 hits and be a strong force on Pop and AC radio.

Let's do this:
Drake: He will release an early-Summer single, featuring another big name, maybe even Post Malone. I can see it peaking at #2, behind the song of the summer. It will lead up to a big album released in late summer/early fall, and it'll have lower numbers than More Life, but still; it will be big. 2-3 more singles will enter the top 10, but none will end up peaking In the top 5.
Post Malone: He will wait for rockstar to start to fade and, when it will, he'll release B&B (I Fall Apart will be on it). On the same day, he'll release the aforementioned song as a single, and it'll instantly jump to the top 5, peaking somewhere in the top 3, and ending up in the YE top 10. However, Candy Paint may replace it as the single. It'll be one of the two. The album will grant him AT LEAST 4 top 10s on the week on release and end up as one of the 5 best selling albums of the year and the most streamed one. It will generate a lot of global success and cement him as one of, if not the biggest artist of 2018.
SZA: After The Weekend will end it's successful run, she'll stay relatively quite and work on an album, however she may be featured on a few projects (JT, JB, Drake).
Khalid: Young, Dumb & Broke will peak somewhere in the top 15, and it will propel him even further. He'll work on a album that will have a late-summer release, and it'll grant him a top 10 hit.
Justin Timberlake: He will have a huge 2018 and the best selling album of the year. His lead single will be a huge #1, while his Superbowl performance will grant him another #1.
Ariana Grande: She'll be the biggest female of the year, as she'll get her first #1, which will preform similarly to rockstar on the charts. It will be a late-spring release and the biggest hit of the summer. Shell block the Post & Drake collab from #1. The album will be released midsummer, with big numbers.
Justin Bieber: He'll wait most of the year out, to pop up in the end of the summer and release a song that will be the biggest debut since CSTF!, maybe even bigger. Although the album will be planned to get released in the Fall, he'll delay it, due to the big releases then and release it in early Winter.
Rihanna: She won't be the biggest female act of the year purely because her Fall release won't give her enough time. The album will be huge, featuring huge guest stars. It'll be a little more poppy than ANTI.
The Weeknd: A huge late summer release, just to tease JB and take away the #1. Possibly, it may be a Rihanna collab. He'll wait till the fall to release the album, and open with huge numbers, and embrace the funky sound even more, which will make the album preform very well worldwide.
G-Eazy: After No Limit will end it's run, he'll release Him & I as a single, and it'll end up getting to the YE top 10, albeit a peak in the lower half of the top 10 (like BLABR?).

I'll guess Playboi Carti Lil' Uzi Vert has been rumored to literally count down days until his suicide but idk. I think Lil' Pump will die in March or April simply because he's taking too much lean and his brain hadn't fully developed. He might not OD, but instead shoot himself. A) He shot himself in the foot once and B) I'm thinking his death will be more like Kurt Cobain's.

Adele will continue her hiatus.
Katy Perry will take a break from the public eye after American Idol, returning with a soundtrack single towards the end of 2018 that will fare moderately well.
Kelly Clarkson will continue to outshine her peers by serving incredible vocals and wonderful interviews and performances, but will unfortunately not get a lot of success. She'll get a few minor hot AC hits out of Meaning of Life before ending the era.
Taylor Swift will have a very successful tour and reputation will be one of the top selling albums of 2018. However, she'll fail to have a song become a massive hit. "Delicate" will be the follow up to "End Game," become the album's biggest hit, peaking just inside the top five on the Hot 100. All other singles will fail to reach the top 20 outside of music video release weeks.
Drake will release another "mixtape" and a full length album. The "mixtape" will dominate the streaming charts, earning him a few songs on the radio from it as well. The actual album will release in the late fall to critical acclaim, but for some reason won't be as successful as the "mixtape."
P!nk will have a great year with one of the year's most successful tours. Her album will continue to sell fairly well throughout the year as she racks up hot AC hits left and right. She will get one top ten pop airplay single while the rest peak in the 11-25 ranges. Her transition to hot AC staple over pop will nearly be completed by the end of the era. Two Australian #1 singles incoming.
Demi Lovato will also have a pretty good year. She'll rack up some decent hits from Tell Me You Love Me, solidify herself as one of the top streaming females, and get a couple awards from smaller award shows.
Khalid will break out tremendously, earning his first #1 on the Hot 100 this year. It may not be with a single from American Teen, though.
Lorde will win Album of the Year at the Grammys for Melodrama. A new interest in her will spike due to it, letting a fourth single do moderately well on the charts, but unfortunately, she'll finish her tour and go on another long hiatus.
Miley Cyrus will release a new album by the end of the year where she will blend her Bangerz and Younger Now styles. She will claim it is the new her, the real her, and everything before was a facade. She will get a lot of backlash yet again from making these claims, but somehow manage to have more success than with Younger Now, but less so than Bangerz.
Niall Horan will outperform the other One Direction members, with Harry and ZAYN fading into obscurity. Harry will have a new single out that will do moderately well, but it won't be attached to an album. Louis will have a successful career in dance clubs.
Charlie Puth will continue to push back his album until he decides to scrap it and do something completely new. "Attention," "How Long," and his song with Boyz II Men will never be added to an album, much like Rihanna's "FourFiveSecond," "Bitch Better Have My Money," and "American Oxygen."
Rihanna will lay low for most of the year, getting a few features here and there. She will announce album news by the end of summer and drop her most critically acclaimed album yet in October.
Rita Ora will continue to fail at breaking out in the US, but she will have a hit as a feature this year.
Ed Sheeran will end his Divide era after his next single. He'll go dormant afterwards, but will return at the end of the year with news about his new lead single, which dives heavily into rhythmic leaning pop.
Selena Gomez will finally release an album, but will treat it dust. I'm talking zero promo outside of music videos. She'll be more focused on 13 Reasons Why season two and will continue to have people questioning if she is okay or not.
Imagine Dragons will continue to slay with Evolve. "Whatever It Takes" will smash, leading to a few more single from the album. They will end the era in the fall/winter and go dormant again.
Logic will fade into obscurity, only to be known as "the guy with that suicide hotline song."
Alessia Cara will release a new album and become one of the big "it" girls.
Halsey will continue her modest success, racking up another hit or two in 2018.
The Chainsmokers will return with new music, but no one will care.
Justin Bieber will hop on a few features, but most of them flop this go around. However, he'll return with his own music late in the year to critical acclaim and modest success.
Justin Timberlake will have a great beginning of the year, racking up hits and huge album sales from hype and the SuperBowl. However, by the end of the year, everyone will have moved on. Think Starboy.
The Weeknd will hop on a few features, getting some urban success. He won't release an album this year, though.
Ariana Grande will have an outstanding year, finally getting her first #1 on the Hot 100 and her album will see both critical and commercial success. This album will be the peak of her career.
Avril Lavigne will return with a new album. It gets some buzz, but ultimately is a flop. However, several months past the release, she'll have a "moment" with something, a performance or music video, and the song associated with it will blossom into a nice hot AC hit for her a la Kelly Clarkson's "Piece by Piece."
Noah Cyrus will scrap NC-17. An album will keep getting delayed over and over again, but she will continue to churn out several singles, enough to make a full length album. She'll hop on a lot of features as well, but none of them will do much until the end of the year. She'll hop on a song that explodes. 2019 is her year.
Camila Cabello will have a string of decent hits after "Havana," with her album performing decently. However, her tour will be a bust and she'll fade away quickly in the years following (as will 5H).
Ashley Tisdale and Vanessa Hudgens will continue to release fucking nothing.
The Veronicas will release a song, but not an album.
Ellie Goulding will have modest year. She'll return in the spring, get a nice summer smash, and collect a few minor hits here and there.
Kendrick will release a few one off tracks here and there, but no new album.
A viral hit will spark the beginning of a career for a new artist that goes on to rack up hit after hit.
Kesha will continue her modest success, but won't really have a major hit. She'll release a new album by the end of the year.

Some of my predictions:
Mariah Carey will suddenly release a new album, but it'll flop.
Eminem will release 1 or 2 new singles from his album, but they won't get beyond the bottom 10 on pop radio.
Migos will go on hiatus, maybe after releasing a mixtape earlier in the year. Offset will do more as a solo artist, especially being featured on big pop hits (like Quavo).
Post Malone's new mixtape will go #1 and stay in the top 10 for a while, just like Kendrick's album did.
A huge artist from the 2000s/early 2010s will make a comeback, and debut at #1 on the Billboard.
Camila Cabello will continue to make headlines, and will already be working on a new album by the end of the year. Also, at least one other Fifth Harmony member will have launched a big solo career.
Speaking of group members, all of the former 1D members will have a top 10 hit by the end of the year. And Zayn will release something new.
The Weeknd will go on hiatus, not releasing anything for a while.
And idk why, but I have a feeling the #1 song of the year will be a rap song with a pop artist singing in it.

Not sure why so many people think Alessia Cara's going to have so much chart success, but I'll be really happy if that does happen.
