-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
RIHANNA - 2018 will be an INCREDIBLE year for the Queen.
She will have the lead single for R9 ready for the Grammys. Sheβll get some noms for Wild Thoughts and Loyalty, with the latter having the best chance of winning.
The lead single will regain the international momentum she lost with ANTI and the album will be a return to form in regards to success specifically in the UK following the huge momentum she regained due to Wild Thoughts.
R9 will have a traditional rollout, without the bulls**t that almost ended in ANTIβs demise. When we say TIDAL exclusives, weβll only mean the songs will be on TIDAL an hour or so before all other platforms, which wonβt make much of a difference.
Oceanβs 8 will be a summer box office smash. Sheβll use a song from the album to be included in the movie/or soundtrack.
Fenty Beauty will break records around the world.
Sheβll begin her next WW tour late summer. Again, with much better planning resulting and much better reception.
R9 will share some of the same characteristics that ANTI had, but will be more mainstream in the vein of Unapologetic. Sheβll still have the Urban cuts to dominate Urban radio.
Her and the Prince will call it quits.
KATY PERRY β Theyβll possibly release one last single from Witness. Sheβll go on tour while writing songs for her next album. Capitol will have much more control of this era in response to the commercial failure that was Witness. The album will be moderately successful, and so will the singles.
After realizing sheβs well past her commercial peak, and going into her mid-late 30s, sheβll settle down and have a baby before the end of the year. With or without a man.
ARIANA GRANDE β Sheβll ring in the New Year right in the middle of her new era. Sheβll either release her lead single near the end of 2017, with the new album in the first quarter; or vice versa. The first single will be a success, potentially giving her first #1 hit. The album as a whole will be moderately successful but still paling into comparison with My Everything. Sheβll go on tour, which will also be successful. But overall, will just kinda be βthereββ¦.
TAYLOR SWIFT β Will release reputation November 2017 with million first week. Other tracks from the album will be much more radio friendly/less divisive than her lead single. Itβll be a mid-tempo with a power chorus and sheβll perform it at the Grammys. Itβll go Top 3 but will be ultimately blocked by another massive Rihanna single. Sheβll embark on the βreputation World Tourβ in the summer which will be another blockbuster. Sold out stadiums around the world. The album will finish at 3.5-4 million in the US and 6 million WW.
BEYONCE β Beyonce wonβt be attending the Grammys in 2018. Sheβll be working hard preparing for Coachella while quietly recording a new album, which will be released immediately before or shortly after the festival. The album will see critical acclaim, but not to the extent of Lemonade. Itβll be more commercial, more in the vain of Self-titled. Sheβll sabotage her releases so long as TIDAL is alive so donβt expect much single success. Her album will easily sell one million pure sales in the US, and do decently WW.
Sheβll do promo for the Lion King and the soundtrack, with both being a success, followed by another massive WW tour.
MARIAH CAREY β Sheβll finally release a new album, with lukewarm response. Sheβll continue touring performing her classics, but unfortunately wonβt see much commercial success again.
LADY GAGA β Sheβll work really hard and finish up the Joanne Tour, but her illness will take front stage and will hinder her performance abilities. Sheβll take a small break before going full-throttle for the promotion of ASIB. Unfortunately, both the movie and soundtrack will be critical and commercial failures. Sheβll then take a step back to really decide the direction she would like to take her career. Little Monsters will be in a world of disarray having to deal with the criticism and bashing they thought was over after ARTPOP.
BRUNO MARS β Heβll put on a stellar performance at the Grammys and win a few awardsβ¦maybe one of the big ones. Heβll finish up the tour, then take a short break with possible writing and collaborations with other artists. New album in 2019.
ADELE β Sheβll remain relatively quiet for most of the year with a new single in the late third quarter with a new album. OR possibly wait until 2019. 2019 is more likely.
BRITNEY SPEARS β Sheβll release a new album. It will surprise most and do decently well commercially. Sheβll embark on a WW tour and will continue dating her boyfriend.
JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE β Will come out swinging with an EPIC Superbowl halftime performance. The performance will focus promotion primarily on the lead single. The release date of the album and a WW tour will be announced immediately after. The album will be released in the spring becoming a commercial success. Heβll start his tour in the summer, which will also be a commercial success.
ALESSIA CARA β Sheβll finally release her sophomore album with great reception. The time she took in 2017 to build up her radio base will pay off, and her lead single will arguably be her biggest yet. Sheβll then embark on her first solo WW tour.
MILEY CYRUS β Will embark on her Younger Now Tour, and will release one or two more singles from the album, which wonβt do much as expected. Meanwhile, sheβll be recording the commercial album she should have released in 2017, and itβll be out late 2018 or early 2019.
MEGHAN TRAINOR β Sheβll release a new album which will fail to see much commercial success. Sheβll find some success on HAC, but Pop radio will be over her. Sheβll continue releasing music but will never achieve the success of her debut again.
CAMILA β Riding off the WW success of Havana she will release her debut album in late 2017 exceeding expectations. She will be particularly noticed for her songwriting abilities having credits on the subsequent singles in which at least one more will become a big hit. Sheβll then plan to embark on a tour at medium sized venues and will continue to build up her brand. Many of her naysayers will be silenced as she will eventually be seen as a viable solo artist.
FIFTH HARMONY β Following the underperformance of their album debut sales, He Like That wonβt do much despite immense promotion. There will be no more singles released from the album, and the label will face the tough decision in whether to break the girlβs contracts or invest in another album. However, they wonβt have to make this decision as the girls will break up on their own.
JUSTIN BEIBER β Heβll release a new single in the Spring of 2018 with a new album in the summer. The single will likely debut at #1 but wonβt be as successful as his lead single from Purpose. His second single will also be a big hit, but not as big as Sorry. His third single will only do moderately well and heβll shift focus on a WW Tour.
SELENA GOMEZ β Upon recovering from surgery, Selena will start off the first quarter releasing the βleadβ single from her next album which will be a moderate success. Neither the lead or the album will find the success of Good For You or Revival. Sheβll release one or two more singles from the album but they wonβt do much. Sheβll then go on tour, and continue her Instagram domination.
DEMI LOVATO β Following the somewhat surprising success of Sorry Not Sorry and its parent album, Demi will also find success with the second and third singles. People will really enjoy her more R&B leaning sound, and sheβll stick with it. Sheβll then go on tour, while recording the follow up attempting to replicate its success.
DRAKE β He will come back in the spring with his lead after one or two more collaborations before. The lead single will be a success, but will not be as successful as One Dance. The parent album will also be a success, but will not see the same success as Views. The era will have seemed to fade away after the second single and he will embark on another tour with additional collaborations on the side.
ED SHEREEN β Perfect will be a multi-week #1 hit. He will perform it at the Grammys and also win AT LEAST one of the big awards for Shape of You, or possibly AOTY. Perfect will carry the album at least until the early spring. Heβll release at least two more singles while embarking on his WW tour. Both being moderate hits.
ZAYN β Heβll release his sophomore album to underwhelming reception. The lead single will only perform moderately, and the era will be pretty much over after single #2 similar to his debut.
ONE DIRECTION β Theyβll release one more album and go on another tour for the fans before permanently disbanding to pursue solo careers.
THE WEEKEND β Heβll perform at the Grammys, but remain relatively quiet with the exception of Die For You, which wonβt do much, and a collaboration or two.
CHRISTINA AGUILERA β Sheβll finally release a new album. The album will have moderate success, but wonβt be worth the nearly six year wait. Sheβll go on a small tour, then back to hiding for another 5+ years.
P!NK β Sheβll continue promotion for her new album with a Grammy performance. The album will see two or three more singles, and will do relatively well. It will pale in comparison to her last two albums due to her weakness in streaming and the more HAC driven sound. Sheβll have a successful tour.
MAROON 5 β theyβll continue promotion of their new album after itβs release during the fourth quarter, likely performing at the Grammys. Of course, subsequent singles will enjoy great radio support, but will not chart very well on the Hot 100. Itβll be your typical Maroon 5 era post Overexposed. Nothing new here.
CARDI B β Fresh off the success of Bodak Yellow, she should be able to ride this wave a bit. Because of her likeability, I think Urban radio will be willing to at least give her a chance with the follow up but if it isnβt hot, theyβll drop her. Nonetheless, I think the follow up to BY will do well on Urban and maybe Rythmic. However, I donβt think itβll have anywhere near the same success as BY. Sheβll be the kind of artist where people will be hear for your songs if theyβre hot, but wonβt be willing to invest in buying your album. Therefore, I can almost already tell that her debut album numbers will be very disappointing. Nonetheless, Bodak Yellow will continue to be performed by her well into the New Year until it runs dry. Nothing wrong with that! Iβve never seen her personality to be appealing, but it seems like most do? However, I feel like it will begin to get annoying.
LUIS FONSI β Will never have a US hit again. KARMA for blocking Queen from her 15th #1β¦
KESHA β Will perform at the Grammys and get nominations! Even if she doesnβt win anything this is such a great thing for her. None of these subsequent singles will be huge hits from this album, but theyβll be at least moderate hits, which is great for her at this point.
- No song will tie One Sweet Day and Despacitoβs most weeks at #1 record this year.
- Itunes will set a new record for its lowest HDS #1 ever.
- The new TRL will do much better than expected, but still not on par with the old TRL.
- There will be another one hit wonderβ¦
- There will be a HUGE scandal involving a well known singer
- American Idol will BOMB.
- Billboard will make yet another huge adjustment to its metrics system.
- There will be more women at #1 on the Hot 100 than men
- The turnover rate for #1 songs will be acceptable
