Pretty monumental song that hit #11 on the Hot 100 in 2013. Nominated for Song of the Year at the Grammys.

Insanely boring song. Take out it's very important subject and there's just nothing there.

So did something monumental in regards to same sex marriage happen in Australia recently? Just realized this has a huge lead there.

Even if it's slow, it delivers a great message in a very melodic and enjoyable way. Mary Lambert sounds amazing and Macklemore's rapping is really good as well.

This re-entered at #4 in Australia this week for some reason
I loooove this The lyrics are straight to the point, the piano sounds beautiful and it's overall just a great listening experience

Tbh I think it’s really cool that the guy behind Thrift Shop and Can’t Hold Us would bring something serious like this too. I love this.

This is one of my favorites by them. It was such an unexpected song. It was really risky choice for a single because we still have a large chunk of the population who are anti-gay. And sadly the Rap and Hip Hop genres haven't really been a welcoming place for GLBTQIA issues. The music video treatment for this is incredible. I appreciated that Macklemore tackled such an issue so close to him in such a meaningful way.
It made me crazy when some people in the gay community were trying to accuse him of exploiting the gay dollar for his personal gain and gay baiting.

So did something monumental in regards to same sex marriage happen in Australia recently? Just realized this has a huge lead there. There was a lot of controversy when he did this song during a pre-game show at the NRL grand final during a campaign surrounding Australia’s non-binding, voluntary postal survey on marriage equality. While he did not reference the marriage equality campaign directly, the lyrics in the third verse were changed to call for “the country” to be united by law, and closed out the performance with a call for “equality for all”. There were petitions that tried to prevent him from doing the song there.
