Sorry to continue this, but I can't handle the hypocrisy. You're the one that brought Rihanna into the discussion in the first place. Alright, I'm out. Peace! Unfortunately, you missed the point of me bringing up Rihanna. It wasn't to incite a "stan competition" but an effort to promote consistency. *waits for your essay deciphering every single word I used in the post to prove your point* Girl, what part of "I'm out. Peace!" did you not understand?

What's the point of quoting someone, reigniting something that was already explained and then "go away"?

What's the point of quoting someone, reigniting something that was already explained and then "go away"?ย Did you read my post? It actually had nothing to do with anything Glove Slap posted. Not once did I bring up the original argument of why this should be or not be in the pop section. I brought up the part where NeRD brought in Rihanna to add to his weak complaint because someone accused him of being butthurt over his fave and when he couldn't handle it, he resorted to a hypocritical response, to which I was calling him out on. So what was the point? I already explained that as well. I can't stand hypocrisy. You don't like it? Report me. :)

I'm just disappointed Glove Slap used the Genie summon gif from Kingdom Hearts and not the original from the movie.

I really did feel like this was a legit promo single. Especially when "Ready For It" was getting a video and spins picked up. I was surprised that it hit the Top 50 so quickly. Is this getting a video? Did it get an adds date or just sent to radio?

As for a video, pretty sure not, this song is a promo single unlike RFI that was kinda a promo single and turned into single later.

Hello. "Gorgeous" is in the top fifty on pop radio, and when that happened last week, Juan Carlos explained that it was moved for that reason. As is generally the case with songs that either a) receive unsolicited airplay without being officially confirmed as a single (see "The Hills" and maybe "Rumour Has It"), then fall back out of the charts (I can't think of an example of this offhand), or b) are singles that fall out of the chart, but then have notable activity elsewhere to discuss ("Run Away With Me," "Into You"), this thread will be moved to Non-Singles when and if its radio run is complete, assuming there's still anything to discuss beyond that point (in many cases, the threads just die off). It could be argued that as staff, we aren't 100% consistent in enforcing this guideline โ see, for example, the "Swish Swish" thread โ but this thread isn't the place for that discussion. Ideas and thoughts are welcome through the pmbstaff account or in the Forum Questions & Announcements subforum. Lastly, as two staff members have pointed out already, the bickering and snide remarks about other posters and their contributions need to stop. I'm the third staff member to point this out today and there will not be a fourth without warnings being issued. Please use the report button in lieu of responding in-thread, which is clearly outlined as a rules violation. Thanks.

I'm all for this dying on radio, but is anyone else starting to like this? I AM... The song actually is kind of growing on me, listened to it twice today Still not even close to single-worthy though, that's for sure.

Hey now haha, Speak Now had its fair share of clunky lyrics too. However, if you are speaking about the perfection that is Enchanted; I totally understand your POV. Hmmm, I actually am impressed with it's lyrics... what songs are you referring to? Well first I have to give credit where credit is due. She wrote the entire album singlehandedly, which is a lustrous feat. Secondly, wasn't she only 18/19 years old if my memory serves me correctly? While all of this is impressive, Speak Now did have its fair share of clumsy lyrics. Here are some examples, Never Grow Up While the song has a relatable and poignant message, it still has some clumsy and puzzling lyrical choices. For instance, "You're in the car on the way to the movies And you're mortified your mom's dropping you off At fourteen, there's just so much you can't do And you can't wait to move out Someday and call your own shots But don't make her drop you off around the block Remember that she's getting older too And don't lose the way that you dance around in your p.j.s getting ready for school" I get the sentiment here, but it is clunky. It sounds like she is just rambling lyrics off without concise direction or editing. Haunted I love the verses and the orchestra in this song, but when the chorus hits..... " Come on, come on don't leave me like this I thought I had you figured out Something's gone terribly wrong, you're all I wanted Come on, come on don't leave me like this I thought I had you figured out Can't breathe whenever you're gone Can't turn back, now I'm haunted" Again, the chorus needed some editing, even with her pacing in the chorus, it still feels disjointed. Sparks Fly I will be honest.... I hate this song to pieces, so I may have a bias haha. "My mind forgets to remind me, you're a bad idea You touch me once and it's really something You find I'm even better than you, imagined I would be I'm on my guard for the rest of the world But with you I know its no good And I could wait patiently But I really wish you would" Again, something should have been edited on the cutting room floor. Long story short, I think Speak Now has some creative, insightful, and brilliant songwriting (Enchanted, Dear John, Mean, Better than Revenge etc.) Nonetheless, the album does have some lyrical shortcoming, which album reviewers also picked up on. In the end, it is a person's opinion. I think Taylor has shown her strongest writing skills on Red.

All Too Well alone sh*ts on every Speak Now track lyrically, IMHO. Speak Now was a good effort but it feel a bit same-y, and she really benefits from co-writers.
