100% no. All these years later and I still remember how much I was seething that Taylorβs medicore Disney-esq ballad won over one of the best singles that year, βJust A Dream.β
Knowing that LAW was in that category too makes that win even more cringeworthy.

Martina, Carrie or LAW should have won this. This was a situation where the most popular person won!

OMG this list just makes me mad! I have been pissed for years that Taylor beat Martina for the Grammy when "I'm Gonna Love You Through It" was up against "Mean", but I had no idea that the same thing happened just a couple years prior!! Seriously, the worst possible option won. "White Horse" is a fine song, but this is an award for the best vocal performance. In terms of vocals, Taylor Swift from her first 2 eras shouldn't have even been allowed to have a microphone. I know that "I Just Call You Mine" is not one of Martina's more popular songs, but to me it is one of her very best vocal performances. There are so many little vocal inflections that give me life in that song! But either way, the only reason I harp on Taylor and Martina is because Taylor won. Which is absolutely ridiculous, and gave me PTSD back to 2013. The fact is, this award should have gone to Carrie Underwood NO QUESTIONS ASKED!!! "Just A Dream" is one of the best songs of her career, and her vocal on it is legendary in every sense of the word! If Carrie had been the one to beat Martina, it would have been perfect! But the fact that Taylor beat BOTH of them makes it so much harder to swallow...

Even as a Taylor fan I can't believe "White Horse" beat the other four songs here. My pick would be "Just a Dream", her performance on that song is just phenomenal, not to mention it's one of my favorite Carrie Underwood songs. So basically what bboat11 said lol I guess people were just bandwagoning on the breakout wave that Taylor was riding that era, with maybe some sympathy votes coming from the Kanye incident at the VMAs.

Nope. "White Horse" is the weakest song of the 5, honestly. This should've gone to "Just a Dream" or "Dead Flowers." "I Just Call You Mine" is one of my favorites from Martina McBride... not exactly Grammy-worthy over the other two though. Love Lee Ann Womack, but "Solitary Thinkin'" was a bit boring, especially following such a great single in "Last Call." There were so many better radio options on that album that could've done better.

bboat11 said it all. Taylor Swift had no business even being nominated, never mind winning. I would have accepted ANY of the other four winning over her but Martina or Carrie were top 2 easily (and I don't really care for Martina's song tbh). Voted for Carrie Underwood because "Just A Dream" is incredible and one of Carrie's best vocal performances

I would agree with "Mean" > "Mama's Song" ("Mama's Song" is probably the worst single she's released, I appreciate the message behind the song but that song had no business being a single). Not to mention "Honey Bee" and "Dirt Road Anthem" lol. But it's Best Country Solo Performance and idk if Taylor's performance in "Mean" is enough to warrant the award. But I know you don't like "I'm Gonna Love You Through It" so lol

I would've rather had "Dirt Road Anthem" win that over "I'm Gonna Screech Right Through It"

I don't mind "White Horse," but "Just a Dream" deserved it.

I don't know the Martina song, but the other four here are all terrific nominees. Greate category.
