This week I have noticed that The Beat has tweaked their format to include original versions of some pop songs. They went from playing remixes of Say Something, Stupid Girls and Say I, to playing the damn originals.
This station should stay true to their dance roots unless no decent remixes exist of current chart-topping hits.
Is this bothering anyone else as well??

Well, if they're a dance station, they should be playing the dance versions of non-dance songs (most of the time). Those three songs you mentioned have decent dance mixes and they should be playing them. What they could do is alternate with the originals and remixes.

BPM tried this for like, a day. Reaction was so bad that they were back to normal in no time. I don't mind it personally, but there are enough places to find the original versions that I don't think the satellite dance stations need to be playing them too.
Of course I've always thought BPM was much better than The Beat anyway.

This SUCKS! It will just be a few months now and it'll just be another faceless Top 40 station. Ever heard of KTU?

I listen to The Beat all the time and I haven't heard them do this. So maybe they did it for a day?

KNGY has received a lot of complaints regarding the change in mixes of the Rihanna track. People wanted the original, not the remixes!

Haven't heard the Chris Cox mix. Does it have the "Tainted Love" sample? If not, I am not suprised by the complaint. The sample is 1/2 of the allure of the song. A mix without it is like a dub. Almost worthless. Similar to mixes of The Tamperer's "If You Buy This Record" without the Madonna backing. Not the same song. Not a hit.

The Chris Cox mix has some of the sample, but it doesn't come in fully until the middle. There's a little break in the club mix where the "Tainted Love" sample comes in. The Nevins mix is a little closer to the original. The sample is there a lot more. But the original is pretty dancey. When I play "S.O.S" during gigs, I usually play the DJ MichaelAngelo Mix which is is just a longer version of the original with some vocal samples from the original song.

I did notice that The Beat played "S.O.S" lacking the remix. I seriously do not need another KTU as a source for some dance music. I say that, at the most, they should be switching between the original and the mixes.

I agree that the MichaelAngelo mix is the mix of choice, but Nevins' is the other one I play.
