In years past we have seen some interesting things happen on the AC chart once the all-Christmas stations are removed from the panel. For example, in 2003, Unwell was able to get to the #1 spor for two weeks in December only to be taken out in January by Shania Twain/Uncle Kracker/Train. In 2005, You & Me was able to squeak a week at #1 in December during Lonely No More's reign. Currently we are seeing a fight for #1 between Home and Big Girls Don't Cry. Will that continue in a month, or can another song sneak into the #1 spot?

I think a new Xmas song will be #1 by 12/1, and hold on 4-5 weeks like it has the last 4 years.

The rockish songs are usually (but not always) the ones that benefit the most during the Christmas season, presumably because the majority of their plays come from the Hot AC-leaning stations which don't tend to play as much Christmas music. So I'm placing my bets on "Home" and "Hey There Delilah" at this point, although that 400-spin gap separating the latter from the #1 spot may be a little too big for it to make up, even with stations going all-Christmas.
Predicting the effects all-Christmas stations will have on the AC chart may be a bit harder this year in general just because there seem to be more rock-leaning songs on the chart than there have been in years past.

I think Colbie may get a shot at it.

I think Colbie may get a shot at it. Colbie's gained a lot of ground just in the week since this topic was made, so I'm going to have to go with her now too.

Yep, I think "Bubbly" will bubble to #1 after the holiday music is cut from the airwaves. It's really more of an AC/Hot AC hit that luckily crossed over to CHR recently.

I forgot to not look at the AC chart around the holidays, eww The golds chart looks much worse, although it won't look nearly as bad once the all-Christmas stations are removed from the panel (which usually happens the last week of November, so sometime very soon). Expect the spin totals for non-Christmas songs to continue to drop rapidly for the next several days. Once we reach a week or so after Thanksgiving, things should begin to stabalize a bit as Thanksgiving (or a day or two after) seems to be when a lot of the stations make the switch.

Carrie Underwood's "Do You Hear What I Hear" seems to be rising very fast!

^It's the first track off the "Hear Something Country Christmas" album that was released either October 2nd or October 9th (can't exactly remember).
