What are artists you knew instantly would never have another hit?

Statistically, the majority of artists that hit the Top 10 never go there again.
Generally, when an artist breaks out of nowhere with a big hit, I assume by default that they'll be a one-hit-wonder, unless there is good evidence otherwise.
OMI was the first one that came to mind when I read the title though.

I feel like nowadays the two most likely types of artists to become one hit wonders are most alternative cross overs (Portugal. The Man most likely won't get another hit) and rappers who have no hype of their own and got big thanks to just one song going viral (like Silento, Ayo and Teo, I think that Lil Pump will also fall under this category)

This is obvious but most vine rap stars. Having your one hit be about a novelty dance is one of the quickest ways to fade into obscurity, and many of these people didn't even release a second song period.

He also had huge hype, Gucci Gang didn't really go viral, it just became huge. It may seem a little sad, but I think that Lil Pump is here to stay. |

I thought Cardi B would be a one hit wonder but it doesnโt look like she will be. She already has three top 10 hits and two new songs on the iTunes top 10, so yeah, that ship has sailed. Leona Lewis Luis Fonsi Jordin Sparks Nope to all three. Both ladies had multiple hits (Jordin Sparks even had a hit from her second album!). I could see the argument with Luis Fonsi on the US only but you would have to ignore a massive, 19+ years career with hit after hit in Latin America, and รchame la Culpa is doing well. |

I know it may be too early to predict, but Portugal. The Man will never chart on hot 100 again. Common logic would certainly suggest this, but I'd actually give them a decent shot of having their second single, Live in the Moment, cross over too. It's pretty catchy and pop friendly. |

Anyway, the most obvious ones are alternative crossovers like Portugal. The Man and novelty rap dance songs (Soulja Boy and the New Boyz are the only ones who managed to score more than one hit and are often still called one hit wonders anyway). |

Yung Joc (technically a 2 hit wonder but one of them was a feature)
This guy's 2000s material was good but was 90s a bit and the fact that he included an obscure R&B star on his follow-up to his huge hit was just laughable. Now in the 2010s he sounds like he is biting off of Soundcloud Rappers' style for relevancy (same reason why he made that laughable hairstyle and why he wore a ladies' dress in public).
Listen to this and try to tell me that he is not biting Soundcloud Rap style:
