Hot 100: #53 (-1) Mediabase: #3 (+2) Billboard Country Airplay: #3 (+2) Billboard Hot Country Songs: #8 (+3) Still looking good for #1 in a few weeks! Jason Aldean should finish this week at #1, but Scotty looks all but guaranteed to finish the week ending February 10 at #1. It might even be possible for Scotty to get two weeks at #1, since both Luke Bryan and Luke Combs are quite a ways back in total audience.

I would like to take this mentor to start the campaign for "Boys From Back Home" to be the third single. I do know that the 3rd single is selected and ready to go (connections lol) but I don't know what it is. "Boys From Back Home" is my choice too. It has that Summer Kenny Chesney feel to it. It's a much stronger Summer song than "Feelin' It" was for Scotty. He actually wrote this about his personal friends in NC and experiences. So that makes the song that much better. Everything he wrote about actually happened, names and all. "Five More Minutes" was about his Grandpa. "This is It" is about was about his wife. So it'd be fitting for his 3rd single to be about his best friends. I love when artists write about their own life and Scotty's entire album is that.

"Home In My Mind" should be next. The chorus is an earworm and would connect with a lot of people.

Scotty's entire album pretty much sounds like a collection of singles. So many good choices! It makes me wish getting 4 singles a year was the norm like it was before the mid 2000s when it all slowed down. Albums like this deserve a lot of songs with radio success.

I really wish I got what everyone hears with Scotty McCreery. He seems like a nice guy, but neither of these first 2 comeback singles have clicked with me and both have become instant station changers and bored me on first listen.
Good for him for having this comeback, I will say his music has gotten better than the stuff released with UMG.

However, I don't know if it's a good idea for Scotty or the label to release 3 consecutive ballads as singles. I think if an uptempo song is a single it should be "In Between." Both these 2 songs are great single choices.

"In Between" and "Boys from Back Home" are both fantastic songs and I think either of those should be next to pick up the tempo a bit. Glad to see this era panning out very well for him at country radio. The 1-2 punch of "Five More Minutes" and "This Is It" was stellar.

Good for him for having this comeback, I will say his music has gotten better than the stuff released with UMG. Just my opinion, but I hear old country in a newer younger voice and I love it. I really detest the faux country that has taken over the airwaves in the last couple of decades or so. I actually think Scotty brings out some of the older country fans because he’s closer to what country used to be. He has a good voice, but I think it’s mire about being genuinely connected to the songs and having an authentic sound to the voice instead of an affectation. Again just my opinion.

I think it is safe to say the next single will be more up tempo. As was mentioned before 3 ballads in a row may not work. Five More Minutes was a hit from the moment it was written. This is It, while it wouldn't have been my choice for 2nd single, has connected with so many people as well. And that speaks to his label. Triple Tigers simply knows their stuff. Think about it. They have been behind 4 singles so far, Yours, Blue Tacoma, 5MM and This is It. If This is It takes the final step to #1 (#2 as of this morning) all songs will have made it to the top. Pretty impressive! So glad for him that TT is in his corner.

"Boys From Back Home" sounds great, but I'm not sure reminiscing about football days will connect with the all-important young female demo. "In Between" is a good song, but imo the chorus doesn't pop as all that catchy or sing-along. Which leaves "Barefootin" to be pushed for the summer. It's not my favorite, but it's probably his best shot at a third straight hit.

I personally think it will be either "In Between" or "Wherever You Are" as the third single. Nothing against any of the other songs on the album these just seem like the obvious choices imo. Also this song got lucky because if it would've been any closer to Luke Combs current single I think it would've been blocked from #1 I think. Luke Combs is on his way to another massive hit with "Beautiful Crazy" and he's passing people like their sitting still. I'm happy that this will get at least 1 week at #1 though. Congrats to Scotty for back to back hit singles!

Is this making its push for #1 this week or next week? The daily updates don't seem that great. It's looking like it will definitely get #1 on Mediabase next week, but it's AI is not increasing fast enough that I think Aldean could have another week at #1 on Billboard.

Good for him for having this comeback, I will say his music has gotten better than the stuff released with UMG. This is pretty much my opinion on him too. On UMG he felt too aw-gee-shucks down-home good-ol'-boy, like someone who'd be a side character in a Norman Rockwell painting. That same Norman Rockwell-ness is still present in his Triple Tigers stuff IMO, but not quite to the same extent. To be fair, I think "Five More Minutes" is his best single. While I didn't really love it, I at least liked that it brought back the "chorus that applies to three different situations" trope that was so common in the 90s (e.g. "How Can I Help You Say Goodbye", "Don't Take the Girl", "Where've You Been", etc.) but that I otherwise haven't heard in ages now. Also, now that he has facial hair, he doesn't look like Alfred E. Neuman anymore...

It's looking like it will definitely get #1 on Mediabase next week, but it's AI is not increasing fast enough that I think Aldean could have another week at #1 on Billboard. The ad Scotty's label had in Country Aircheck was simply telling radio stations to "power up" this song, rather than calling for "max spins" like labels usually do at the beginning of the absolute final week of radio promo, so it's likely next week will be the final week of radio promotion. I still think Scotty will end up getting the Billboard #1 this week simply because "Girl Like You" is no longer being promoted and songs that are no longer being promoted almost never remain at #1 for even one additional week after the label pulls its support. (Also, it's pretty common for songs that are going for #1 to have modest airplay gains the first half of the week and a few days of huge gains at the end of the week.) "This Is It" should easily get two weeks at #1 on Mediabase and will most likely also get a second week at #1 on BIllboard, depending on how fast Jason falls this week and how big the gains are for "Beautiful Crazy" next week.

Awesome for Scotty!
On another note, all four singles from Triple Tigers artists (Scotty and Russell Dickerson) have hit number one. Has any other new label had a perfect record?

Awesome for Scotty! On another note, all four singles from Triple Tigers artists (Scotty and Russell Dickerson) have hit number one. Has any other new label had a perfect record? It's definitely a record for an independent label. When Russell & Scotty already hit #1 with both of the label's 1st releases to radio, that was already a record. Chris Lane on Big Loud was credited with being the 1st ever artist on an indie to have the label's 1st release go #1. That wasn't that long ago. I would think one of the majors would have had a perfect record on their 1st 4 singles just because of their resources, but I don't know.
