Welcome, one and all, to the 1993 Year-End Country Songs Rankdown! I've compiled the year-end lists from both Billboard and American Country Countdown, plus a couple of extra top five hits from that year. The messy looking picture up above represents the artists' albums that were prominent a quarter of a century ago in regards to the biggest hits (e.g. "Chattahoochee", "One More Last Chance", "Passionate Kisses", "Let That Pony Run", "A Thousand Miles From Nowhere", etc.).
Note that these aren't the only artists and albums to be featured in this rankdown; in fact, I'll go ahead and give y'all the songs and the playlist so you can go ahead and get started on these. For now, I'll set the deadline for May 6 (the first Sunday of May), but I may end up extending it by a week since I've opened this later than I anticipated. Also note that my rankings for this year have NOT been finalized yet and I'm not giving y'all a whole lot of time to do this.
Most of you guys are already familiar with these rankdowns, but just in case you're a newbie: listen to all 100 songs, make sure you're well-acquainted with them (i.e. don't just base your opinion off of one listen), and rank them from your most favorite (#1) to your least favorite (#100). Once you're finished and relatively comfortable with your list, send it to me via PM (Cody Wants Out... ). I'll respond once your list is in my spreadsheet. Given that there's plenty of time between your submission and the deadline, you can sit back and do your thing while waiting for the results!
HAVE FUN!

I love 90s country, but I'm going to pass on this. I'm just too busy these days to participate in most rankdowns.

But not having this song show up in EITHER year is just plain inaccurate... Lmao following the year-end chart is worthless if it means excluding what would have otherwise been one of the biggest hits of any individual year had it not peaked at the wrong time... Edit: Not to mention you led us to believe that it would be in the 1993 rankdown when tim questioned why it was left out of the 1992 rankdown! Lol

Aaaaaaaaand I just realized that Martina's "My Baby Loves Me" peaked at #2 in December of 1993... After being released in JULY. How does a song climb for an entire half of the year, miss hitting #1 by like 1 spin or whatever crazy metric she lost the #1 spot by, and then not make the year-end chart???! > (Not to mention one of the biggest country hits of all time which blocked Martina, Garth's "American Honky-Tonk Bar Association"). No offense, but I am having a lot of trouble with the idea of a year-end rankdown that completely ignores some of the biggest hits of an artist's entire career just because they peaked at the wrong time of the year. Everything that has been mentioned this afternoon/evening belongs in this list more than like 80% of the songs that actually are...

Yeah, I don't understand what's going on here that so many obvious big hits are left off the list. Some of them should've been in 1992 but weren't, so they should be on here. Big hits from artists like George Strait and Martina McBride have no business getting shafted in a YE rankdown. Cody Wants Out... your 1992 rankdown had 104 songs on it, so I think you need to just tack on a few extras here as well for the glaring omissions.

Cody Wants Out... your 1992 rankdown had 104 songs on it, so you need to just tack on a few extras here as well for the glaring omissions. look... I already got a couple of submissions; if I added more songs on here, then I would have to start. all. over. and go back to square one. I would have to toss the couple of lists I've already received along with my own and create a brand new spreadsheet. I would not be the only one upset over doing something like this. Chances are, if I add any extras to compensate for these so-called 'glaring omissions', there'll end up being more songs than in the '07 RD as I had almost 130 songs chosen. It hurt me that I couldn't include "Two Sparrows" in either '92 or '93, but I've accepted that fact and have moved forward. Had "I'm in a Hurry" debuted on the charts in September instead of October, I would've included "I'm in a Hurry". Also, I didn't wanna say this, but "My Baby Loves Me" will be in my '94 RD; it's already on my Spotify playlist and I don't really plan on starting it until the end of the summer. P.S. 102 in '92, there were 104 in '98. P.P.S. No one is forcing you to participate, btw.

Whoa I didn’t even realize Alabama’s “I’m in a Hurry” and Tanya’s “Two Sparrows” were also left off the YE rankdown. With “I Cross My Heart” and “My Baby Loves Me” also left off that’s four iconic songs that really should’ve never been left out.
And that comment about no one forcing us to participate is kind of uncalled for. I know you put a lot of time into setting these up, but all we’re saying is that’s a lot of glaring omissions that are probably some of our favorite songs still to this day.

Cody Wants Out... why would you have to throw those lists away? We're talking about maybe adding like 4 very well-known songs to the list, and I'm sure the people who have submitted would have no problem going and listening to a couple extra songs and slotting them into their list where they see fit... and they're more recognizable than many of the songs that did make the list, so it would probably be a small task. The deadline you set is still over a month away and if a few people have already been so proactive as to have already gone through this list, then I'm sure they could find the time to slot 4 additional songs into their list. Look dude, since you're the one making this an ego thing: no one is forcing us to participate, but none of us agreed that you needed to be in charge of hosting these, either. If you're not gonna do an adequate job of making sure massive hits aren't purposefully left off the final list just because you decided it was okay since they peaked in December, then maybe you shouldn't be running the show.

No one put him in charge of hosting these YE Rankdowns, and it's not like it's a subjective personal rankdown. I don't think it's asking a lot for him to include a few #1 or #2 hits that should've been considered in the first place.

I don't think anyone is trying to boss the host around, rather just trying to make sure that the song list is as accurate as possible for this year's YE chart, and that all artists/songs that should be represented are indeed represented. I know for me, if a YE rankdown is missing songs that said YE rankdown should have in it, it skews the whole thing for me and takes away a lot of the enjoyment. I see little point in ranking the songs in a YE rankdown if the song list itself is incomplete and/or missing certain songs. I tend to agree that the specific songs that indulge, bboat, and tim suggested do indeed belong in here and I don't think it would be that difficult to add them in at such an early stage, but since Cody started the rankdown and this specific thread it is, of course, his decision in the end.

'm not going to really get into this much and I respect Cody's choice to handle this how he wants but I do agree with everything that LBTrocks says here. It does take away from the enjoyment of the entire experience if songs that should be here are being left off. "Two Sparrows In A Hurricane", "I'm In A Hurry", and "My Baby Loves Me" are three of my all time favorite songs and to see that they won't be included in any year-end rankdown is a big disappointment, and "My Baby Loves Me" was released and peaked in 1993 so it should be a part of the 1993 rankdown not the 1994 one. While I'm not the biggest fan of "American Honky-Tonk Bar Association" or "I Cross My Heart" they need to be in one of the two years as well. Another thing I want to add is I get it is really hard to narrow songs down but the biggest hits of the year should be the priority in making the lists one way or another. Just my two cents. I respect your choice here Cody Wants Out... but I want to share my thoughts and I'll be participating either way.
