The Longest-Leading Billboard Hot 100 No. 1s
Just 3 percent of all Hot 100 No. 1s have led for 10 weeks or more.
From Debby Boone's 1977 smash "You Light Up My Life" to 2018's "God's Plan" by Drake, a relatively select few smashes have led the Billboard Hot 100 chart for at least 10 weeks. How few? A mere 3 percent of all Hot 100 No. 1s dating to the chart's launch on Aug. 4, 1958, have earned the achievement.
In honor of the singles to claim the Hot 100's top spot the longest, here's a look at the elite leaders to rule for double-digit weeks, an exclusive club led by two titles with a record 16 weeks at No. 1 each: Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee's "Despacito," featuring Justin Bieber, in 2017, and Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men's "One Sweet Day," in 1995-96.

Man I am so bored of the charts, last year there was so much shake up around this time. Everything is so stagnant right now, there's nothing interesting to talk about. This same time last year we were rid of all the 2016 late hits, but for some reason Havana and Perfect are still lingering around despite being way past their primes. It's a bit frustrating, I'm hoping someone like Rihanna or Adele will come out of nowhere and shake up the Hot 100.

Feels like majority of relevant artists have released an album or at least had a charting hit that year. So far 2018 is more of a cool down year

It's a bit frustrating, I'm hoping someone like Rihanna or Adele will come out of nowhere and shake up the Hot 100. I do agree that it's annoyingly slow but Perfect actually wasn't on the 2017 year-end so it's really more of a big 2018 hit and Havana was only #96 and in any case it's one of only two songs in the top 10 where the lead artist is female so I really can't complain it's doing so well. That said we definitely do need some more shaking up of the top, I have nothing against the song but the fact that Stir Fry is still at #13 despite losing a ton of points since its #8 peak seems to be a sign that there's just nothing here to replace the top songs. Also, I think we gotta start asking is God's Plan coming for 17 weeks? It refuses to fall and the rest of the hot 100 is so weak, I mean there's no way Meant To Be or Psycho has any chance. I honestly think the only chance is for some huge artist to debut at #1 and the list of people who could do that is few indeed. Taylor, Ed, and Kendrick are all still cycling through current eras and that really just leaves Rihanna and Adele to come out of nowhere. The other chance is that something gets a bunch of out of nowhere virality a la See You Again (one of the other record preservers) or Black Beatles and there's really no way to predict what that would be

If nothing comes along in the next few weeks, which is totally possible as people like Ariana could be having a huge summer hit waiting for us, it's totally possible but considering the timing, it all depends on what comes along and when.

It reminds me more of the first 5 months of 2014, which was an incredibly stagnant year overall but that first half was unbearable. We had 4 or 5 big hits that stuck around at the top for months with only mild movement in the bottom half of the Top 10, May came around and we saw many new hits come through but man that was a terrible couple months for the charts.

Questions I have for people:
Could "Okra" be able to chart this week?
What are your expectations for "Invasion of Privacy"'s first week on the Hot 100? How many debuts? How many songs altogether? What positions?
Could "Framed" debut on the Hot 100 sometime?

Re: Okra: YouTube doesn't appear to have it logged in their services yet, and its official video streams are a little weak all things considered anyway. It might get a minor debut from on-demand streaming alone along with incidental sales of ~5,000.
Re: Invasion of Privacy: We don't know, wait until Friday for at least a ballpark to form.
Re: Framed: It could get a week off YouTube, but nothing else appears to be there for it. Maybe if momentum builds for the 4/21 chart.

Listening to "Walk It Talk It" for the first time, of course I hate it. Sigh... Since the video is what it is, I expected the song to be more upbeat and, well, less like everything they've put out already. What is that chorus?
Seriously, the video doesn't fit the song at all.

It was more than likely (possibly confirmed, I am not sure) inspired by this mashup:

Listened to The Weeknd's ep for the first time. "Call Out My Name" is pretty good, glad it'll be doing ok. I hope it doesn't drop massively in the 2nd week, but I expect streaming to keep it afloat. With radio and maybe a video, could it possibly dethrone "God's Plan"? Too soon to tell I guess.
"Hurt You" was my favorite; "Try Me" is also good, I've forgotten the others. Can't really remember "Wasted Times" but the lyric "I got no business catchin' feelin's" seems meme-worthy.
