After two consecutive eras filled with flawless singles, I've never been more excited for a new Carrie lead single. I enjoy "The Champion" as a pop song but I want this to be nothing like it honestly.
Yaassss, I hope this is the epic lead single smash that I need from her right now!!!! I am READY for new Carrie music!
I hope that sonically she kinda moves away from the direction she headed with the Storyteller era though. While all the singles were great, the dark yet overproduced sound is kinda starting to be beat into the ground for me. I hope for something more like Cam's "Diane" from a sonic standpoint. Something that stands out in a big way for having a modern yet cheery production, and allows Carrie's voice to shine naturally rather than being drowned in a wall of sound.
Of course if it MUST continue the dark and overproduced sound, hopefully it is more along the lines of the Blown Away singles rather than the Storyteller singles.
I've been called by a higher lonesome than low as low can be You can write it on my tombstone, outlaw life looks pretty wholesome When you pay the price in foolishness it takes to get you free Higher lonesome killed the bitter parts of me
1) Post with Content. You don’t have to be perfect about this, and enthusiasm isn’t a crime, but we’d rather have posts driven by thoughts and ideas. If you develop a pattern of posting in the “discouraged” zone below, we’ll work with you to try to correct it, but you won’t get warned unless you’re incredibly stubborn about content-free posting. Anyway, below is the “discouraged zone”, a list of some posting examples that you should avoid:
"I love this song!"
"Get that smash!"
"Heard it on the radio today!"
"This song sucks."
"#18 on Mediabase today!"
Such 'drive-by' comments don’t really add to the discussion. When posting, it helps if you explain yourself. What specific things (vocals, lyrics, melody, production, etc) do you like or dislike about a song? We don’t need each post to be multiple paragraphs in length, nor are we looking for a thesis or a research paper. If you can explain something in 1 or 2 sentences, that’s acceptable. Just keep in mind that this is a discussion board, not a chat room.
Anyway...on to a post with a little more substance...
I can't help but wonder if this isn't the same tune Jason Eady recording a while back. I'm guessing not - doesn't seem to fit Carrie's style - although anything is possible.
I'm sure plenty of folks will like this simply because of the artist. I'll be waiting until I hear the song to pass any judgment, good or bad.
I can already tell this is going to be my favorite song of the year.
Let me make sure I understand this. You can already tell this is going to be your favorite song of the year...before you've heard the song...before you've heard the music...and before you've even heard the lyrics???

Ooooookay then.
Yeah, correct! My queen doesn’t disappoint. #Ooooookaythen

So you're saying every other song on her new album will be worse than this... ;)
Do not get lost in a sea of despair. Do not become bitter or hostile. Be hopeful, be optimistic. Never, ever be afraid to make some noise and get in good trouble, necessary trouble. - John Lewis

I understand that the country forum prefers to stick towards serious discussion as much as possible but discouraging people from expressing their enthusiasm to a new single from one of their favorite artists seems counterproductive as well. I'm not taking a shot at the rule itself, just the need to post it in this thread just because a couple people are excited and didn't go on a full-on rant about it.
Y’all are wild. We haven’t even heard the single yet and you’re already at each other’s throats and chastising fellow members.
Let’s take our feet off the pedal of aggression and enjoy the anticipation of a new lead single without a fight breaking out. If you can’t be trusted to respect other posters, refrain from posting.
