This is hard, some of her best tracks are her lead singles. I voted Cowbody Casanova (cus that shit BUMPED when it was released) and Something in the Water. Her last 2 lead singles have been her weakest, IMO.

I guess most of the time I prefer her later singles/album tracks. None of my favorites here.

01. "So Small" 02. "Good Girl" 03. "Cowboy Casanova" 04. "Cry Pretty" 05. "Something in the Water" 06. "Jesus, Take the Wheel" 07. "Smoke Break"
"So Small" has always been my favorite lead in all its schmaltzy glory. The next two are sonically similar enough that it can switch on any given day. This sound has become ubiquitous for her, though I find it much stronger here then in her other uptempo material.
"Cry Pretty" explores new grounds for Carrie in that it's not really a retread of anything she's done thus far which is appreciated. It's nice to see the 80s/90s influence and sound reflected in her solo work as opposed to just covers (which she knocks out the ballpark). It's not "explosive" in sound akin to GG/CC but a nice surprise nonetheless.
Objectively, "Something in the Water" is a good song, I just can't get past the religious context and I never listen to it because of it. "Similarly for "Jesus...", but the song doesn't really do anything for me—though its a lovely vocal.
"Smoke Break", well...this one should've just remained an album track nearing the end of the album that you never listen to again. Nothing good to say about this one.
That said, her leads have never been amongst her best works—i'm partial to her darker stuff.

This is hard. She has the perfect lead singles, except for Smoke Break.

Cry Pretty.
Aside from being a great song, I have rarely heard her go off on a her songs this much. It's a vocal masterpiece.
