I'm really looking forward to hearing this. Hopefully, they won't disappoint.

Do you guys think this will have much success on the alternative format, given their late 90's success on pop?

Do you guys think this will have much success on the alternative format, given their late 90's success on pop? Actually, blink have had way more success on alternative than they've had on pop. I guess that's cause they're kinda the traditional 'alternative' band...y'know, with a sort of punk edge, a la green day. All their first 4 or 5 songs, I think, reached #1 on the modern rock chart, and they've had way more hits on alternative than on pop. But I guess their success on respective formats depends on each song, not on history. Anyway, I'm glad to hear more fom blink-182. I really don't think much of groups like good charlotte, simple plan, bowling for soup, and all these other groups which are, in fact, more pop than rock.

Blink-182's Alternative chart history:
Dammit 10 What's My Age Again 2 All The Small Things 1 Adam's Song 1 Man Overboard 3 The Rock Show 2 Stay Together For The Kids 8 First Date 6
Eight top 10 hits and no misses since their first hit. I'd be shocked if it didn't hit the top 10. But stranger things have happened, I guess.

"Whats My Age Again" would have definitely hit #1 had it been released any other time. It was at #2 behind the biggest Alternative hit of all-time (if I'm not mistaken), "Scar Tissue" by Red Hot Chili Peppers which I believe spent 16 weeks at #1.

I used to listen to the countdown show "Out Of Order" with Jed The Fish; my local radio station used to air in weekends. It's this alternative chart show produced by Westwood One. I'm sure all those songs reached #1 on that show, except for the last two and "Dammit". Does anyone know which charts the show uses? I would think it's R&R, because as far as I know it's not the Billboard Modern Rock chart. And didn't "dammit" come out later?

Those listings came from an archive of Alternative chart data compiled by GordonUM a while back, so I assume he's right. I don't know what methodology "Out of Order" uses.

I bet Out Of Order is just some conglomerate of the R and R charts and KROQ's playlist.

If it did, it failed to make top 30. The stats I posted came from Gordon's Excel archive file.

On Billboard's Modern Rock... What's My Age Again - #2 for 11 weeks! Adam's Song - #2 for 7 weeks The Rock Show - #2 for 4 weeks
"Josie" doesn't show up on there.

I don't like it much at all. Seriously, I think Blink-182 has passed us by, they just don't want to know it yet. Of course, there's the loyal fanbase that will always buy the new Blink record, but for a casual fan like this, I really think their best days have passed. I wish I could say better of this song, but I can't.
If anybody knows how to make it so that I don't have to hear the song on Madden 2004, let me know.

The song on Madden 2004 isn't "Feeling This", I believe it is "Action". That's what I read on the EA Sports website anyways, plus Madden was released at the end of August and "Feeling This" went for adds in October.
So maybe you heard the wrong song because what I heard was pretty good.

There's two songs on there I believe. I definitely heard Feelin' This at one time or another. Trust me. According to the game, it tells me I've collectively wasted three weeks of my life in front of it.

I like this song a lot - it should be at least a top 10 at alt radio. Definitely nowhere near as poppy as the lead singles from their last 2 albums, which means that they won't do much at pop at all, but this is a good record, IMO.

I like this, but they should have released it in June. There's no way you can listen to this song in 50° weather when it's raining.

I generally like Blink-182, but this song isn't that great at all. I suppose it could grow on me though.

This one is pretty bad. I agree that the verses are okay, but the chorus is awful

I really like this. I actually like the chorus better than the verses, but I like it all. I heard this on the radio on K-Rock as I was driving into Jersey from school today. Sounds like a hit to me, although I agree with who said it would have been even better as a summer single.

Man, I listened to this song with those comments in mind and I couldn't even tell what was the chorus and what wasn't the chorus, on one listen. What a totally fucked up song. I think I actually may end up liking it.

Yesterday Blink-182 was gaining over 1,000, and could keep Linkin Park out of Number 1.

I'm going to go ahead and predict that it won't get to number one. There's no way a song that sounds like this that isn't by Linkin Park could go to number one. Top 5 based on name recognition, definitely, but not number one. Think "Man Overboard".

"Action" and "Feeling This" are the same song. It was called "Action" before "Feeling This". The only difference is, "Action" hadn't been mixed yet, so the vocals are more clear on "Feeling This" and some of the background vocals are a little different, the guitars are louder, etc. As for the song - I love it. It still definitely has that Blink feeling, but it's something new. With Take off Your Pants and Jacket, they were definitely going on the safe route, trying to replicate the brilliant Enema of The State. It turned out alright, but was nothing compared to it's predecessor. "Feeling This" is definitely harder than anything on the previous two albums, but wouldn't have sounded completely out of place on Dude Ranch, save the lyrical content. I think it will do pretty well on Alternative. They're definitely going to have to release something else to CHR if they want another top 20.

I really don't think it sounds too much harder than their other stuff... maybe there's just less of a chorus so it feels a little poppy. To be honest, I was disappointed in "The Rock Show" as a lead single. I think this song is MUCH stronger than that one. I really think this can get to #1, even if for a short while. I also could see this doing stuff at Pop... it's very catchy.
